Screen orientation
Youcanrotate the display panel to your preferred orientation.
The orientationof the display automatically changes (alternating betweenportrait and
landscape modes) depending onhow youhold it.

•Use only the power adapter and power cord shipped with the computer.
•Output of the power cord is 20 V for charging function.

the combined power adapter and power cord with anunapproved device cancause damage. You
are responsible for any problems caused by their misuse.
Combo audio jack Connects to headsets.
Notes:
•The combo audio jack does notsupportconventional microphones.
•The recording functionmightnotbe supported if third-party headphones or headsets are connected,
due to different industry standards.
Micro HDMI port Connects to devices with HDMI inputs, such as a TV, or an
external display.

Using a micro SD card (not supplied)
Your computer supports micro Secure Digital (SD) cards.
Inserting a card
1 Openthe card slotcover.
2 Slide the card in until it clicks into place.
Removing a card
1 Push the card in until youhear a click.
2 Gently pull the memory card out of the slot.
3 Close the card slotcover.
Power button Whenthe computer is off, press and hold this buttonto turnon
the computer.

Function key combinations
Through the use of the functionkeys, youcanchange operational features instantly. To use this
function, press and hold Fn ; thenpress one of the functionkeys .
The following describes the features of each functionkey.
Fn + Esc: Mutes/unmutes the sound.
Fn + : Closes the currently active window.
Fn + Delete: Enables/disables the touchpad.
Fn + Backspace: Enables/disables Airplane mode.
Fn + PgUp: Activates the home key function.
Fn + PgDn: Activates the end key function.
Fn + : Increases the display brightness.
Fn + : Decreases the display brightness.
Fn + : Decreases the volume level.
Fn + : Increases the volume level.

Combination of tablet and keyboard dock (on select models)
Lenovo Miix 2 11 is notonly a tablet. Itcanbe combined with a keyboard dock and used as a
notebook computer.
The keyboard dock supports two-way insert.

Configuring the operating system for the first time ----------------
Youmightneed to configure the operating system whenit is firstused. The configuration
process caninclude the procedures below:
• Accepting the end user license agreement
•Configuring the internetconnection
•Registering the operating system
•Creating a user account
Operating system interfaces -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows 8.1 comes with two main User Interfaces: the Startscreenand the desktop.
To switch from the Startscreento the desktop, do one of the following:
•Selectthe desktop tile onthe Startscreen.
•Pressthe Windows key + D (located onthe keyboard dock).
To switch from the desktop to the Startscreen, do one of the following:
•SelectStart from the charms.
•Pressthe Windows button.
•Movethe cursor to the lower-leftcorner, thenselectthe Start button.

The charms -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charmsare navigationbuttons thatletyoucontrol your Windows®8.1 experience.
Charms include: Search, Share, Start, Devices, and Settings. The CharmsBar is the menu that
contains the charms.
The five charms provide new and faster ways to perform many basic tasks, and are always
available regardless of which app youare currently in.
To display the charms, do one of the following:
•Movethe pointer to the upper-rightor lower-rightcorner until the charms bar is displayed.
•Useone finger to swipe in from the rightedge of the screenuntil the charms bar is displayed.
•Pressthe Windows key + C (located onthe keyboard dock).

Search charm
The Search charm is a powerful new way to find whatyouare looking for, including settings,
files, Web images, Web videos, etc.
Share charm
The Share charm enables youto send links, photos, and more to your friends and social
networks without leaving the app youare in.
Start charm
The Start charm is a way to go to the Startscreen.
Devices charm
The Devicescharm allows youto connector send files to connected external devices, including
the devices to play, print, and project.

Settings charm
The Settings charm enables youto perform basic tasks, such as setting the volume or shutting
downthe computer. Also, youcangetto the Control Panel through the Settings charm when
using the desktop screen.

Putting the computer to sleep or shutting it down -------------------
Whenyouhave finished working with your computer, youcanput it to sleep or shut it down.
Putting your computer to sleep
If youwill be away from your computer briefly, put the computer to sleep.
Whenthe computer is in sleep mode, youcanquickly wake it to resume use, bypassing the
startup process.
To put the computer to sleep, do one of the following:
•Pressthe Power button.
•Openthe charms, and thenselectSettings Power Sleep.
To wake the computer, do one of the following:
•Pressany key onthe keyboard (located onthe keyboard dock).
•Pressthe Power button.
•Pressthe Windows button.
Shutting down the computer
If youare notgoing to use your computer for a long time, shut it down.
To shut downthe computer, do one of the following:
•Openthe charms, and thenselectSettings Power Shut down.
•Pressand hold or right-click the Start buttonin the lower-leftcorner and selectShut down or
sign out Shut down.
