WHEN SHOWSORFLASHESINTHEDISPLAYY
While the CD isplaying,ifthe alkaline batteriesareweakordischarged,
thissymbol “”showsorflashesinthedisplay,thenthepower
automaticallyturnsoff. If thisoccurs,replacebothalkaline batteries(also
ifthe displaydoesnotshowanything,the batteriesaredead).
TIPS ONBATTERYUSE
Reversing polaritieswill damage thebatteriesand possiblythisset. Be
suretofollowpolarity(+and -)asindicated.
Donotmixdifferenttypestogether(Alkaline,Carbon-Zinc,Nickel-
Cadmium etc.),orold batterieswithnewones.
When notin useforan extended periodoftime,orwhile internal batteries
willnotbeused,removethem topreventpossible acidleakageor
corrosion resulting in damagetothisplayer.
When the batterieshavebecomedischarged,theymustbedisposed

programsongstoplayinyourpreferredorder,followstepsbelow:

Cleaning thecabinet
Wipe withasoft cloth. If the cabinet
isverydirty,dampen (notdripping
wet)the clothwithaweaksolution
ofsoapywater,andthenwipe
clean.
Cleaning thelens
Adirtylenswill causesound
skipping.If thelensisverydirty,
theplayermaynotwork.We
suggestusing aspecial cleaning
disk (not included)available in most
musicand Hi-Fistores.However,
ifyou donothaveone,youmay
usethe instructionsbelow.
Useacottonswabveryslightly
dampened withalcohol toclean the
lens.

Cleaning theDiscs
Fingerprintsshouldbecarefully
wipedfrom the surfaceofdisc
withasoftcloth.Unlike
conventionalrecords,compact
discs haveno groovestocollect
dustand microscopicdirt, so
gentlywiping them withasoft
clothshould removemost
particles.Wipein astraight
motion fromthe centertothe
edge.
Neverusethinner,benzine,
recordcleanerorantistaticspray
onacompactdisc.Suchchemicals
candamageitsplasticsurface.
HandlingCompact
Discs
Dirty,scratchedorwarpeddiscs
maycauseskipping ornoise.
Handlethe disconlybytheedges.
Tokeep clean,do nottouchits
surface.
Discsshould bestored intheir
casesafterusetoavoidscratches.
Donotexposediscstodirect
sunlight, high humidity,high
temperatures,ordust,etc.
Prolonged exposuretoextreme
temperaturescanwarpthedisc
(suchasleaving the discs in your
carduringsummertime).
Donotstick orwriteanythingon
eitherside ofdisc.Sharpwriting
instruments,orthe inks usedin
somefelt-tippedpens,may
damageitssurface.
Toremove theDisc
Open the CD DOORbysliding the
CD DOOROPEN button,hold the
discbythe edge while slightly
pressingonthecenterspindleas
illustrated,then lift itfrom the edge
toreleaseandremove.

Theset’scabinetmaywarporthesetmayotherwisebedamaged ifitis
placedindirectsunlight,nearheaters(wherethetemperatureis1400F/
600Corhigher)orin carswiththewindowsclosed.Inthesummer,the
temperaturemaygetashighas2120F/1000Cormore.
Usethe setwithinatemperaturerangeof410F/50Cto950F/350C.
UseONLYtheoptionalDC4.5V600mAACAdaptorwithpolarity,
othersmaydamage thisset.DisconnecttheAdaptorfrom thewalloutlet
when thesetisnottobeusedforanextendedperiod oftime(3days or
more).
When cleaningthisset,useasoftdrycloth.Donotusesolventsor
commerciallyavailablecleaners,astheymaydamage ordiscolorthe finish.
Donotwearheadphoneswhile operatingamotorvehicle.Thiscouldcreate
atraffichazardand isillegal in many areas.Donotusethissetwhen
bicyclingorrunning.
The headphonessupplied withthissetprovide superbstereo listening
whileallowingyoutohearsome outsidesoundswhenlistening atnormally
lowvolume levels.Listening atextremelyhighvolume levelsminimizesthe
intrusionofoutsidenoise/sounds.Inthe interestofsafety,itisstrongly
advised againstthe usewhile engaging in activitieswheretheexclusion of
externalsounds(whistles,horns,sirens,traffic,etc.)couldbehazardous.
Alsoloud volume can hurtyourears.If you noticethatthe sound has
becomeweakordistortedoriftracks donotchange,thisisanindication
thatthebatteriesarelow.Replacebothbatteriesatthesame time (see
BATTERYOPERATION).
ThisCD-57isidentifiedbyaserialnumberlocatedin theBATTERY
COMPARTMENT.Recordthisnumberinthespaceprovidedbelow.
CONDENSATION
Ifcold waterispouredintoaglass,waterdropletsformonthe outsideofthe
glass.Thisiscalledcondensation.Condensation mayoccuron internal
operating partsofthelens.
Condensation occurs:
When thesetisbroughtfrom thecold outdoorsintoawarmroom,orifitisin
acoldroomtoaroomwhichisheated,orinthesummer,ifthesetismoved
from an air-conditioned roomorcartoahotorhumidlocation.
Shouldcondensation occur,thesetmaynotoperateproperly.Openthe CD
DOORandwaitforabout20minutes(toallowtheinternalpartstoadjustto
thesurroundingtemperature)beforeusingtheset.
