Chapter 1 Introduction
Congratulationsonyour purchase of LevelOne WBR-3404TX Wireless BroadbandRouter.This
product is specificallydesigned forSmall Office andHome Office needs. It provides a complete SOHO
solutionforInternet surfing, and is easyto configureand operate evenfornon-technicalusers.
Instructions forinstallingandconfiguringthisproductcanbe found in thismanual. Beforeyouinstall
and use this product, please read this manual carefullyfor fullyexploiting the functions ofthis product.

2.2 ProcedureforHardwareInstallation
1. Decide where to place yourWireless Broadband Router
Youcanplace yourWBR-3404TX onadeskorotherflat surface, oryou can mount it onawall.
For optimal performance, place yourWireless Broadband Routerin thecenter ofyour office (or
yourhome) in alocationthatis awayfrom anypotential source of interference, suchasametal
wall or microwave oven. This location must be close topower and networkconnection.

2. Setup LAN connection
a. WiredLAN connection:connects an Ethernet cable from your computer’sEthernet port toone
ofthe LAN ports of this product.
b. Wireless LAN connection: locate this product at aproperpositiontogainthebest transmit
performance.

3. Setup WAN connection
Prepare an Ethernet cable forconnectingthisproduct toyourcable/xDSLmodemorEthernet
backbone. Figure 2-3 illustrates the WAN connection.
4. Connectingthis product with your printer
Use the printer cable toconnect your printer tothe printerport of this product.
5. Power on
Connectingthe power cord topower inlet andturningthepower switch on, this product will
automaticallyenterthe self-test phase. Whenit is intheself-test phase, the indicators STATUS will
be lighted ON forabout10 seconds, and thenSTATUS willbe flashed 3times toindicatethat the
self-test operationhasfinished.Finally,theSTATUS will becontinuouslyflashedonce persecond
toindicate that this product is innormal operation.

Chapter3 Network Settings and Software Installation
Touse LevelOne WBR-3404TX correctly,youhave toproperlyconfigure the networksettingsofyour
computers and install the attached setupprogram intoyourMS Windows platform(Windows
95/98/NT/2000).
3.1 Make Correct Network Settings of YourComputer
The default IP address ofthis product is192.168.123.254, andthe default subnet mask is
255.255.255.0.These addresses can be changed on yourneed,butthedefault values areused inthis
manual. If theTCP/IPenvironmentof yourcomputer has notyet beenconfigured,youcan refer to
Appendix A toconfigure it. Forexample,
1. configure IP as 192.168.123.1, subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 and gateway as
192.168.123.254, or more easier,
2. configure yourcomputers toloadTCP/IPsettingautomatically,that is, via DHCPserver of
this product.
After installingtheTCP/IP communication protocol, youcanuse the ping commandto checkif your
computer has successfullyconnected tothis product. The following example showstheping procedure
for Windows 95platforms. First, execute the ping command
ping 192.168.123.254
Ifthe following messages appear:
Pinging 192.168.123.254 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.123.254: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
acommunication linkbetweenyourcomputerand this producthasbeensuccessfullyestablished.
Otherwise, if you get the following messages,
Pinging 192.168.123.254 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Theremust besomethingwronginyourinstallationprocedure. You have tocheckthe followingitems
insequence:
1. Is the Ethernet cable correctly connected betweenthis product and your computer?
Tip:TheLAN LED of this product and the linkLED ofnetworkcardonyourcomputermust be
lighted.
2. Is the TCP/IP environment of your computers properly configured?
Tip:Ifthe IP address ofthis productis 192.168.123.254,the IPaddress of yourcomputermust
be 192.168.123.X anddefault gatewaymust be 192.168.123.254.
3.2 Installthe Softwareinto YourComputers
Skip this section if youdonot want to use the print server functionof this product.

Step 1: Insert the installationCD-ROM intothe CD-ROMdrive. The followingwindow will be
shownautomatically. Ifit isn’t, please run “install.exe”on the CD-ROM.

Step2:Clickonthe INSTALL button. Wait until thefollowing Welcome dialogtoappear,andclickon
the Next button.
Step3:Select thedestinationfolderandclickonthe Next button. Then, thesetupprogramwill begin to
install the programs intothe destination folder.

Step4: Whenthe followingwindow is displayed, clickon the Finish button.
Step5: Select the item torestart the computer and thenclickthe OK button toreboot your computer.
Step6: Afterrebootingyourcomputer, the software installation procedure is finished.
Now,youcanconfigure theNATRouter (refer toChapter4)andsetupthePrintServer(refer to
Chapter 5).

Chapter 4 Configuring LevelOne WBR-3404TX
WBR-3404TX provides Web basedconfigurationscheme, that is, configuringbyyourWebbrowser,
such as Netscape CommunicatororInternet Explorer.This approachcan be adoptedin anyMS
Windows, Macintosh orUNIX basedplatforms.
4.1 Start-up andLog in
Activate yourbrowser, and disablethe proxy or addthe IPaddress of this product into theexceptions.
Then, typethis product’sIP address in the Location (forNetscape) or Address (forIE)fieldandpress
ENTER. Forexample: http://192.168.123.254.
After the connectionis established, youwill see thewebuser interface ofthisproduct. There aretwo
appearances of web user interface: for general users and for system administrator.
Tologin asan administrator,enter thesystem password(the factorysettingis ”admin”)inthe System
Password field andclickonthe Log in button. Ifthepasswordis correct, thewebappearance will be
changedinto administrator configuremode. As listedin itsmainmenu,thereareseveraloptions for
system administration.

4.2 Status
This option provides the function for observing this product’s workingstatus:
A. WAN Port Status.
Ifthe WAN portis assignedadynamic IP,there mayappear a “Renew”or “Release”button
on the Sidenote column. You can clickthis button torenew or release IP manually.
B. Printer Status. Thepossiblekinds of printer statusinclude “Ready”, “Not ready”,
“Printing ”, and “Device error”.
Whenajob is printing, theremay appear a Kill Job”button on the Sidenote column.You
can click this button tokill current printingjob manually.
C. Statistics ofWAN: enables you tomonitorinboundand outbound packets
