Mounting the Anchor
1. With the help of another person, place the Axis
Shallow Water Anchor stern mounting bracket against
the transom and mark the location of the four mounting
holes (Fig.2A) with a non-permanent marker
2. Use an ⁄” drill bit to drill four pilot through-holes where
previously marked (step 1) (Fig.2A) on the transom
3. Set the Axis Shallow Water Anchor aside
4. Use a ⁄” drill bit to drill through the four previously
drilled pilot holes (step 2) to open them up
PARTIAL OR SURFACE-MOUNTING OF THE AXIS
SHALLOW WATER ANCHOR CAN COME LOOSE OR
BREAK FREE FROM THE TRANSOM, RESULTING
IN POSSIBLE SEVERE PRODUCT AND/OR
PROPERTY DAMAGE, INCLUDING VOIDING OF THE
COMPONENT WARRANTY, SERIOUS PERSONAL
INJURY OR DEATH. THE AXIS SHALLOW WATER
ANCHOR MUST BE SECURELY BOLTED THROUGH
THE TRANSOM.
5. Apply a generous amount of marine grade sealant
(3M 5200 or similar):
A. On the mating surfaces of the stern mounting bracket
and hull
Fig.2
B. All around the ⁄” stern bracket’s mounting holes
Make sure to seal the drilled holes toward the inside of
the vessel
6. With the help of another person, retrieve the Axis
Shallow Water Anchor and align it’s stern bracket holes
with the transom holes
A. Install one ⁄” x 1” OD washer (Fig.3A) onto each of
the four ⁄”-16 x 3” hex head screws (Fig.3B) then insert
from the outside of the vessel the assembled hardware
through the previously (step 4) drilled holes in the
transom and through the anchor’s mounting bracket
NOTE: Proper mounting bracket installation will have
each screw hex head facing outside the vessel and
the lock nuts facing inward from the inside surface of
the transom
B. Install one ⁄” x 1 ½” OD washer (Fig.3C) over each
of the four screws (Fig.3B) followed by threading on a ⁄”-
16 brass lock nut (Fig.3D) Hand-tighten the nuts to hold
the Axis Shallow Water Anchor in-place
Fig.3
A A
C. For each installed screw (Fig.3B), hold in-place with
a ⁄” wrench to keep it from turning, while tightening
the lock nut (Fig.3D) with a ⁄” socket and ratcheting
wrench Holding the hex head screw and tightening the
lock nut onto it prevents damage to the powder coat of
the Axis system
Optional Anchor Mounting
In addition to transom mounting, Lippert offers several
optional mounts, such as jack plate, engine, dovetail,
pontoon and universal mounts

If installed, the optional quick-detach dovetail bracket is
mounted in the same way as the standard stern mounting
bracket procedure with the only exception being the
bolts The quick-detach dovetail bracket uses four ⁄”-16
x 3 ½” flat head countersunk bolts instead of the hex
head style
NOTE: The quick-detach bracket mounting hole locations
are identical to the standard stern mounting bracket hole
locations, so no new holes are required when upgrading
Mounting the RF Module
1. Place the RF (radio frequency) module box (Fig.4) in
close proximity to the vessel’s power source
2. Hold the RF module in-place and, using a non-
permanent marker, draw an outline of the box
3. Using the provided mounting template, it is
recommended to pre-drill the four holes for the #6
mounting screws
A. Cut out the provided RF module mounting
template (Fig.10)
B. Place the template over the previously marked RF
module box outline (step 2) and secure it in-place; eg,
tape, tacks
C. Using a drill with an ⁄” drill bit, drill four holes (Fig.10)
where indicated on the template
4. Secure the RF module box in-place with the four
provided #6 x ¾” screws
Fig.4
A
B
C
5. Using the appropriate heat shrink connectors (NOT
supplied), connect the short black lead (Fig.4A) to -12V
source and the short red lead (Fig.4B) to +12V source
NOTE: Lippert recommends that the two power leads be
connected to a battery switch since the RF module will
draw a small amount of power when not in use
6. Plug the longer black lead (Fig.4C), congured with a
quick connect Deutsch Plug, into the receiving plug on
the Axis Shallow Water Anchor
Programming the RF Module
