LG Chem RESU Service Improvements, as of November 2019:
Dear RESU Partners,
LG Chem always appreciates your cooperation and interest in our residential battery products.
The purpose of this letter is to share a few updates the RESU Team has been working on since the onset of the 2019.
1. Customer Service Improvements:
We have on boarded a 3rd party service company, called ETS, who will be servicing our grid and residential
battery modules in North America. ETS has done business with LG for 30+ years and will be located in City of
Industry, CA and Louisville, KY. These two additional locations will be an extension of our Warranty Center in
Michigan, which will remain in operation. Your first point of contact will be LG Chem. LG Chem is also
adding a Customer Service Support Specialist to the RESU Team in an effort to increase our increase our post-
sales support for our RESU partners.
2. RMA Process Improvements:
The RESU RMA Process has changed to include reimbursements for labor ($250 per RMA) in addition to
shipping costs. These reimbursements will be credited to your Authorized RESU Distributor of choice.

3. Important Reminder regarding Prevention of
Remote F/W Update Failure of RESU HV (Type-C)
Dear Valued Customers,
LG Chem would like to thank you for choosing RESU and for your confidence in LG Chem as your battery supplier. As a market
leader we have an ongoing commitment to provide a safe, reliable and high-quality residential storage solution and to prevent
failure from remote firmware updates. This notice provides information necessary to prevent failures related to remote firmware
updates.
We are seeing an increase of RESU HV(Type-C) batteries produced prior to Jun 2019(RESU10H) displaying “battery not
configured” due to firmware update failure during commissioning.
Reminder
During initial commissioning, the SMA inverter attempts a remote battery firmware update via the Sunny Portal if the battery does
not have the latest firmware version. Once the firmware update begins, the green LED will blink. This is the firmware update signal
of the DCDC converter. Next, the red LED(fault LED) will blink - this is firmware update signal of the BMS.
If the red LED is blinking, the installer may believe there is a fault with the battery, and may attempt to shut down or reset the
battery system. The blinking red LED blinking is not a real fault situation, it is a normal firmware update process. If the battery
is turned off or reset during firmware update, the battery cannot recover and action must be taken by an LG Chem Technician.
Therefore, please do not turn off or reset the battery during firmware update. Please wait until the firmware update is completed
and the green LED is on.
If LG Chem must dispatch a technician or issue an RMA caused by the installer turning the battery off during the firmware update,
a service fee may be charged.
LG applied a firmware update to RESU10H(Type-C) batteries manufactured since 5/1/2019. This update includes LED blinking
signal color change from RED to GREEN regardless of the DCDC converter and BMS.
This guide covers units with production serial numbers in the table below.
