Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for
ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the
product and to protect it from over heating. The

proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer’s

CAUTION concerning the Power Cord
Most appliances recommend they be placed upon
a dedicated circuit;
That is, a single outlet circuit which powers only
that appliance and has no additional outlets or
branch circuits. Check the specication page of this
owner’s manual to be certain. Do not overload wall
outlets. Overloaded wall outlets, loose or damaged
wall outlets, extension cords, frayed power cords, or
damaged or cracked wire insulation are dangerous.
Any of these conditions could result in electric
shock or re. Periodically examine the cord of your
appliance, and if its appearance indicates damage
or deterioration, unplug it, discontinue use of the
appliance, and have the cord replaced with an
exact replacement part by an authorized service
center. Protect the power cord from physical or

This device is equipped with a portable battery or
accumulator.
Safety way to remove the battery or the
battery from the equipment: Remove the
old battery or battery pack, follow the steps
in reverse order than the assembly. To prevent
contamination of the environment and bring on
possible threat to human and animal health, the
old battery or the battery put it in the appropriate
container at designated collection points. Do
not dispose of batteries or battery together with
other waste. It is recommended that you use
local, free reimbursement systems batteries and
accumulators. The battery shall not be exposed to
excessive heat such as sunshine, re or the like.
CAUTION: The apparatus shall not be exposed to
water (dripping or splashing) and no objects lled
with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the
apparatus.

Notes on Discs
yDo not touch the playback side of the disc. Hold
the disc by the edges so that ngerprints do not
get on the surface. Never stick paper or tape on
the disc.
yAfter playing, store the disc in its case. Do not
expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of
heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed
to direct sunlight.
Notes on the Unit
yPlease save the original shipping carton and
packing materials. If you need to ship the unit,
for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it
was originally packed at the factory.
yTo clean the unit, use a soft, dry cloth. If the
surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth
lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution.
Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol,
benzine, or thinner, as these might damage the
surface of the unit.
yThe unit is a high-tech, precision device. If the
optical pick-up lens and disc drive parts are dirty
or worn, the picture quality could be diminished.

Introduction
About the “7” Symbol Display
“7” may appear on your TV display during
operation and indicates that the function explained
in this owner’s manual is not available on that
specic media.

yIf your TV is not capable of handling 96 kHz
sampling frequency, set the [Sample Freq.]
option to [48 kHz] on the setup menu.
yIf your TV is not equipped with Dolby Digital
and MPEG decoder, set the [Dolby Digital] and
[MPEG] options to [PCM] on the setup menu.
yIf the audio format of the digital output
does not match the capabilities of your
amplier, the amplier will produce a strong,
distorted sound or no sound at all.
yTo see the audio format of the current disc
in the on-screen display, press AUDIO.
yThis unit does not perform internal (2
channel) decoding of a DTS sound track.
To enjoy DTS multi channel surround, you
must connect this unit to a DTS compatible
amplier via one of this unit’s digital audio
outputs.

is equipped with a digital multi channel decoder.

Settings
When the unit is turned-on at the rst time, you
have to select the desired language. (Optional)
Adjust the Setup Settings
You can change the settings of the unit in the
[Setup] menu.
1. Press SETUP.
2. Use
w/s to select the first setup option, and
press dto move to the second level.

w/s to select a second setup option, and
press dto move to the third level.
4. Use
w/s to select a desired setting, and press
ENTER (b) to confirm your selection.
[LANGUAGE] Menu
Menu Language
Select a language for the Setup menu and on-
screen display.
Disc Audio/Disc Subtitle/Disc Menu
Select a language for the Disc Audio/Disc Subtitle/
Disc Menu.
[Original]: Refers to the original language in
which the disc was recorded.
[Other]: To select another language, press
number buttons then ENTER (b) to enter the
corresponding 4-digit number according to
the language code list. (See page 21) If you
make a mistake while entering number, press
CLEAR to delete numbers then correct it.
[O ] (for Disc Subtitle): Turn o Subtitle.
[DISPLAY] Menu
TV Aspect
Select which screen aspect to use based on the
shape of your TV screen.
[4:3]: Select when a standard 4:3 TV is
connected.
[16:9]: Select when a 16:9 wide TV is
connected.
Display Mode
If you selected 4:3, you’ll need to dene how you
would like widescreen programs and lms to be
displayed on your TV screen.
[Letterbox]: This displays a widescreen picture
with black bands at the top and bottom of the
screen.
[Panscan]: This lls the entire 4:3 screen,
cropping the picture as necessary.
Progressive Scan
(For Component Video connection)
Check whether your TV can accept the progressive
signal. If your TV accepts it, you can enjoy accurate
color with high quality by selecting [On].
If you set Progressive Scan to [On] in error, you must
reset the unit. First, remove the disc in the unit.
Next, press and hold STOP (Z) for ve seconds.
The video output will be restored to the standard
setting, and a picture will be visible on your TV.

[AUDIO] Menu
Set the player’s Audio options according to various
disc output type you use. (Optional)
Dolby Digital / DTS / MPEG
Select the type of digital audio signal to use the
DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack.
[Bitstream]: Select to connect DIGITAL AUDIO
OUT jack to an amplier with Dolby Digital, DTS
or MPEG decoder.
[PCM] (for Dolby Digital / MPEG): Select
to connect DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack to an
amplier without Dolby Digital or MPEG
decoder.
[O] (for DTS): Select to connect DIGITAL
AUDIO OUT jack to an amplier without DTS
decoder.
Sample Freq. (Frequency)
Selects the sampling frequency of the audio signal
between [48 kHz] and [96 kHz].
Speaker Setup
Selects an option according to the analog audio
connection.
[2 Ch]: Selects when 2 Channel stereo system
is connected to this unit.
[5.1 Ch]: Selects when 5.1 Channel surround
system is connected to this unit
After selecting [5.1 Ch], you can set the 5.1 Ch
speaker setup options. Press w/s to select an
option then press a/d to adjust the setting.
[Speaker]: Select a speaker that you want to
adjust.
[Size]: Select a size of the selected speaker.
(Large, Small) A size cannot be selected
depending on the selected speaker.
[Volume]: Adjust the output level of the
selected speaker. (-10 dB - 0 dB).
[Distance]: Select a distance to each speaker
from the listening position. You cannot adjust
Sub Woofer speakers. (1 m(3.28 ft) - 6.0 m
(19.7 ft))
[Test]: Select [All], a test signal is sent to each
speaker. During testing, you can select a
speaker and adjust volume setting. Select [o ]
to stop the test.
DRC (Dynamic Range Control)
Make the sound clear when the volume is turned
down (Dolby Digital only). Set to [On] for this eect.
Vocal
Set to [On] only when a multi-channel karaoke DVD
is playing. The karaoke channels on the disc mix
into normal stereo sound.

[LOCK] Menu
Firstly, you have to create the 4-digit password on
[Area Code] to use the LOCK menu.
If you forget your password
You can reset it. First, remove the disc in the
unit. Display setup menu then input the 6-digit
number “210499”. The “P CLr”appear in the
display window and the password is deleted.
Rating
Select a rating level. The lower the level, the stricter
the rating. Select [Unlock] to deactivate the rating.
Password
Sets or changes the password for lock settings.
Area Code
To input the standardized area code referring the
Area Code List on page 20.
[OTHERS] Menu
B.L.E (Black Level Expansion)
To select the black level of playback pictures, set
your preference and monitor’s ability.
REC Bitrate
You can choose a bit rate for USB direct recording.
Higher bit rate gives the better sound quality but
uses more space on the USB Flash Drive. For USB
direct recording, see page 17.
DivX(R) VOD
ABOUT DIVX VIDEO: DivX® is a digital video
format created by DivX, LLC, a subsidiary of Rovi
Corporation. This is an ocial DivX Certied®
device that has passed rigorous testing to verify
that it plays DivX video. Visit divx.com for more
information and software tools to convert your les
into DivX videos.
ABOUT DIVX VIDEO-ON-DEMAND: This DivX
Certied® device must be registered in order to play
purchased DivX Video-on-Demand (VOD) movies.
To obtain your registration code, locate the DivX
VOD section in your device setup menu. Go to vod.
divx.com for more information on how to complete
your registration.
[Register]: Displays the registration code of
your unit.
[Deregister]: Deregister your unit and display
the deregister code.

Playing a Disc rt
1. Press OPEN/CLOSE (B), and place a disc on the
disc tray.
2. Press OPEN/CLOSE (B) to close the disc tray
For the most DVD-ROM discs, playback starts
automatically.
For the Audio CD, select a track using w/s/
a/d, and press PLAY (z) or ENTER (b) to
play the track.

1. Press OPEN/CLOSE (B) to place a disc on the
disc tray, or connect the USB device.
2. Select a le using w/s/a/d, and press PLAY
(z) or ENTER (b) to play the le.
RETURN (x) Changes between Disc and
USB Device.
TITLE Changes the mode. (Music :
Photo :Movie)

You can display and adjust various information and
settings about the content.
1. While playback, press DISPLAY to show various
playback information.
2. Select an option using w/s.

Press A-B at the beginning of the
portion you wish to repeat and

Searches for the starting point of
entered time code. Press DISPLAY
then select clock icon. Enter a
time then press ENTER (b).
For example, to nd a scene
at 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 20
seconds, enter“11020”and press

If you enter the wrong number,

page

Press and hold SUBTITLE for 3
seconds during playback. The
language code will appear.

Connect USB Flash Drive to the
unit before recording.
Insert an Audio CD, and then
select a track using w/s, DVD
MENU, or numerical buttons.

resume stop mode.
yFor all track recording: Press
AUDIO([) in complete stop
mode.
yFor program list recording: In
stop mode, press AUDIO([)
after selecting a track on the
program list.
yIf you use this function, the “CD_REC” folder
will be created automatically in the USB
Flash Drive then the music le(s) is saved in
it.
yIf you remove USB Flash Drive, turn o or
open the unit while recording, it can make a
malfunction.
yIf the remaining space on the USB Flash
Drive is insucient, the recording is not
available. To increase the free space, delete
les in it using your PC.
yCD-G disc and Audio CDs encoded in DTS
cannot be recorded.
yExternal HDD, Multi Card reader, Multi
Partition USB, Locked device and MP3 player
are not supported.
yYou can set the recording speed pressing
AUDIO during USB direct recording.
-X1 Track: While normal speed recording,
you can listen to the music.
-X4 Track: While 4X speed recording,
you can not listen to the music.

securely.
The power is on, but
the unit does not work.
No disc is inserted. Insert a disc.
The unit does not start

An unplayable disc is inserted. Insert a playable disc. (Check the disc type

The rating level is set. Change the rating level.
The remote control
does not work properly.
The remote control is not
pointed at the remote sensor
on the unit.
