Data Acquisition Module Quick Start Guide
The Data Acquisition Module (DAqM) is used to collect biomet data in LI-COR eddy covariance systems. This document introduces the DAqM and describes how
to connect it to a SmartFlux 2 or 3 System for the first time.

Analog input terminals: Connections for analog sensors.
Ground lug: Connect to an earth ground for lightning protection.
SDI-12 terminals: Connections for SDI-12 sensors. Terminal blocks (not
shown) are used to connect multiple SDI-12 sensors.
12 VDC Output: Regulated power supply for sensors.
Switched power outputs with current sensing: Switchable power outputs
with current sensing for powered sensors.
Digital input/output terminals: Connections for digital sensors.
DATA IN: Used to connect additional DAqMs.
Power input: Power to the DAqM (+9 to 30 VDC).
DATA OUT: Connects to the SmartFlux 2 or 3 System, to a Data Retention Module, or to another DAqM if the system has more than one.

Getting Started
Follow these steps if you have a DAqM without a DRM. If you have a DRM, follow the steps on the DRM quick start guide.
Step 1: Install the Blueprint Utility
Go to www.licor.com/env/support/Biomet-System/software.html. Choose the software for your operating system, install it, and open the app.
Step 2: Load a biomet program
Click Biomet Library, select the program that corresponds with your sensor package. Enter the calibration information for your sensors. The program will tell you
which multipliers are needed. For custom programs, you can either modify an existing program or create one from scratch. Click Help for in-app assistance.

Bundles of wire leads connect the DAqM to the SmartFlux 2 or
3 System. A standard Ethernet cable connects the SmartFlux
System to your network or computer. A detailed wiring dia-
gram is provided in the Data Acquisition System instruction
manual.
Step 4: Power on the system
Each part needs to be powered on (+9 to 30 VDC).
Step 5: Connect and send the program
Click Connect in the Blueprint Utility. Select the SmartFlux Sys-
tem from the list. It is identified by the serial number. Click
Configure Port and select the port that the DAqM is con-
nected to. Click OK to connect. Click Push to load the program. Additional steps must be taken to configure SDI-12 sensors and to connect the DAqM to your
eddy covariance system. Refer to the data acquisition system instruction manual for details.
