CAUTION:
To ensure proper operation, this equipment must be installed according to the enclosed
installation instructions. To verify that the equipment is operating properly and can
successfully report an alarm, this equipment must be tested immediately after installation,
and periodically thereafter, according to the enclosed test instructions.
CAUTION:
This equipment cannot report an alarm over the telephone line when other non-LifeShield
equipment (telephone, answering system, computer modem, etc.) connected to the same
line is in use.
Battery arning
Rechargeable Nickel-Metal-Hydride Batteries Must Be Recycled or Disposed of Properly.
Do not mutilate the battery pack. Do not dispose of the battery pack in a fire due to risk of
explosion.
LIFESHIELD LIMITED ARRANTY FOR PRODUCTS AND ACCESSORIES PURCHASED IN
THE UNITED STATES OR CANADA
HAT IS COVERED UNDER THIS ARRANTY
Subject to the limitations and exclusions contained below, LifeShield, nc. (“LifeShield”)
warrants the LifeShield-branded (including all embedded software) sold by LifeShield for
use with the LifeShield Home Security System (the “Products”) to be free from defects in
materials and workmanship under normal consumer usage and in accordance with the
accompanying instructions and documentation, for the period(s) set forth below. This
warranty extends only to the first consumer purchaser, and is not transferable. LifeShield,
at its option, will at no charge repair, replace or refund the purchase price of any Products
that do not conform to this limited warranty. We may use functionally equivalent
reconditioned/refurbished/pre-owned or new Products or parts and we may retain all
replaced Products or parts. No data added to your Products, including but not limited to
component names and system preferences, will be reinstalled. This limited warranty is the
consumer’s exclusive remedy, and applies to new Products purchased by consumers in
the United States or Canada, which are accompanied by this written warranty.
PRODUCTS COVERED/LENGTH OF COVERAGE (the “ arranty Period”)
New Products: One (1) year from the date of purchase by the first consumer purchaser of
the Product.
Products That Are Repaired or Replaced.
The balance of the original warranty or for ninety (90) days from the date returned to the
consumer, whichever expires later.
Batteries. Only batteries whose fully charged capacity falls below 80% of their rated
capacity and batteries that leak are covered by this limited warranty.

You will receive instructions on how to ship the Products, at your expense, to a LifeShield
Authorized Repair Center. To obtain service, you must include:
a) a copy of your receipt, bill of sale or other comparable proof of purchase
b) a written description of the problem
c) the complete physical address of the location where the system was installed and
most importantly
d) your address and telephone number and,
e) the “Return Merchandise Authorization” or “RMA” number that LifeShield pro-
vides to you
HAT IS NOT COVERED (EXCLUSIONS)
Normal Wear and Tear. Periodic repair and replacement of parts due to normal wear
and tear are excluded from coverage.
Ornamental Decorations. Ornamental decorations, such as emblems and graphics and
other decorative elements, are excluded from coverage.
Ab se & Mis se. Defects or damage that result from the following are excluded from
coverage:
a) improper operation, storage, misuse or abuse, accident or neglect, such as
physical damage (cracks, scratches, etc.) to the surface of the Product;
b) contact with moisture, liquids, water, rain, extreme humidity, heavy perspiration
or makeup, sand, dirt or the like, food, or proximity to or exposure to heat or cold,
fire, flood, or lightning;
c) other acts which are inconsistent with the instructions and documentation that
accompany the Products; and
d) use of the Products with any system other than the LifeShield Home Security
System.
Use of Non-LifeShield Prod cts and Accessories. Defects or damage that result from
the use of Non-LifeShield branded or certified products, accessories, software or other
peripheral equipment are excluded from coverage, including without limitation defects or
damage to Products that result from such use are excluded from coverage.
Una thorized Service or Modification. Defects or damages resulting from service,
testing, adjustment, installation, maintenance, alteration, including without limitation,
software changes, or modification in any way by someone other than LifeShield, or its
authorized agents, are excluded from coverage.
Altered Prod cts. Products with the following characteristics are excluded from
coverage:
a) serial numbers or date tags that have been removed, altered or obliterated;
b) broken seals or Products that show evidence of tampering;
c) mismatched board serial numbers; or
d) nonconforming or non-LifeShield housings, antennas, or parts.
Comm nication Services. Defects, damages, or the failure of Products due to any
communication service or signal not provided directly by LifeShield is excluded from cov-
erage.
Ot of Warranty Prod cts. Defects or damages reported to LifeShield after the
Warranty Period are excluded from coverage.
Other Exclusions and Limitations

OR MPL ED. N NO EVENT SHALL L FESH ELD BE L ABLE, WHETHER N CONTRACT, TORT
( NCLUD NG NEGL GENCE) OR OTHERW SE, FOR DAMAGES N EXCESS OF THE PURCHASE
PR CE OF THE PRODUCT G V NG R SE TO THE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY ND RECT,
NC DENTAL, SPEC AL, PUN T VE, EXEMPLARY OR CONSEQUENT AL DAMAGES OF ANY
K ND, OR LOSS OF REVENUE OR PROF TS, LOSS OF BUS NESS, LOSS OF NFORMAT ON OR

Grid Extender Kit Contents
GEC1000 Grid Extender
LS180 Ni-MH Rechargeable Battery Pack
Determine The Location
Place the Grid Extender in a location that is spread apart from
the Console and Base. A second floor location is a great place
to install this, if you choose. Having these devices spread
throughout the home will maximize system coverage. A power
outlet is required to operate the Grid Extender.
Install The Grid Extender
1. nstall Battery Pack
Open the Battery compartment.
b) nsert the Battery plug into the two-pin jack, and insert
the Battery.
c) Replace the Battery cover.
2. Plug the Grid Extender into the electrical wall outlet.
CAUTION: RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN
INCORRECT TYPE. DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE
INSTRUCTIONS.
NOTE: Use only LifeShield LS180 Rechargeable Battery Pac supplied with
your Grid Extender.
Replacement battery packs are also available through LifeShield Customer
Support at 1-888-392-2044 or online at www.LifeShield.com.
Do not place wires or cables where they may create a trip hazard, or where
they could become pinched and create an electrical hazard.
Do NOT use AC power outlets that are controlled by a wall switch
Securing Grid Extender (Optional)
1. For personal safety, turn the power to the outlet OFF
at the circuit breaker.
2. Leave the wall plate on the outlet, but remove the
center screw
3. Plug the Grid Extender into the electrical outlet with
the phone jack facing down.
4. Replace the center screw by inserting it through the
tab on the Grid Extender.
5. Turn the power back ON at the circuit breaker.
Adding Additional Phone Backup (optional)
Plug one end of a phone cord into the phone jack on the
bottom of the Grid Extender and the other into an active
phone wall jack*.
*For DSL use DSL filter
Add the Grid Extender to Your LifeShield
System
Follow these steps for adding an additional device to an
existing system. Devices packed with kits are pre-registered
and do not require these steps.
After the initial installation of the LifeShield System,
components may be added to enhance access or performance.
The maximum number of devices that can be added to a
LifeShield System are:
* The system will allow a maximum of 8
Handset/Console or Grid Extender combinations.
After the hardware is installed, use a Handset or Console that
is currently registered on the System to follow the steps for
adding the Grid Extender.
After installing the hardware, enter MENU on your Handset
or Console.
1. Scroll to Security Setup and press SELECT.
2. Enter Code.
3. Scroll to GCs or Handsets and press SELECT.

4. Press the SELECT key to <Add New>. The system will
begin searching for the new Grid Extender you are adding.
5. On the Grid Extender, press and hold the center button until
the green light rapidly flashes.
6. The following messages will appear on the Handset or
Console when the system has found and added the
Grid Extender.
7. Press OK when you have been informed that the GX has
been added.
8. You will then be given the option to edit the default name.
8.5. Use DELETE to erase the current name and replace with
new text by using the keypad.
9. Press OK when editing is complete.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This
equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed
and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio
communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. f this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or televi-
sion reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is
encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
• Reorient or relocate the radio or television receiving antenna
• Reorient or relocate and increase the separation between the LifeShield
equipment and radio or television receiver
• Connect the LifeShield equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to
which the radio or television receiver is connected
• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help
The antenna used with this product must be installed to provide a separation distance of
at least 20 cm from all persons and must not be co-located or operating in conjunction
with any other antenna or transmitter.
This equipment should be serviced only by Lifeshield, nc. or its authorized agents.
FCC Part 68
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and the requirements adopted by
the ACTA. On the equipment there is a label that contains, among other information, a
product identifier in the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. f requested, this number must be
provided to the telephone company.
A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone
network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by
the ACTA.
Registration No.: Found on the bottom of the unit.
The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this is used to determine the number of devices
that may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result
in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. n most but not all areas, the
sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices that may
be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact the local telephone
company. For products approved after July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part of
the product identifier that has the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digits represented by
## are the REN without a decimal point (e.g., 03 is a REN of 0.3).
f this equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will
notify you in advance that a temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if
advance notice isn’t practical, the telephone company will notify you as soon as possible.
Also, you will be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is
necessary.
The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or
procedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. f this happens, the
telephone company will provide advance notice in order for you to make necessary
modifications to maintain uninterrupted service.
f trouble is experienced with this equipment, for repair or warranty information, please

is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that you
disconnect the equipment until the problem is resolved.
Connection to a party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility
commission, public service commission or corporation commission for information.
You must not connect your phone to:
• Coin-operated systems
• Most electronic key telephone systems
f your home has separate wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line at the
same time LifeShield equipment is installed, ensure the installation of both sets of
