Engine Emissions
►Excessive engine exhaust from this machine contains chemicals that may cause cancer,
birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Always operate in a well-ventilated area.
►Look for relevant Emissions Durability Period and Air Index information on the Engine
emissions label, or refer to the engine Owner Manual for additional details.
WARNING
Gasoline is highly ammable and must be handled with care. Never ll the tank
when the engine is hot. Do not allow open ame, smoking, or explosives in the area.
Avoid over-lling and wipe up any spills.
► To prevent a vapor-lock condition, only ll the fuel tank to
approximately 80% of capacity.
►FUEL: The SPIDERSCREED™ uses unleaded gasoline
that must contain no more than 10% ETHANOL (E10) or 5%
METHANOL by volume. In addition, METHANOL must contain
cosolvents and corrosion inhibitors. Use of fuels with a higher
concentration of ETHANOL or METHANOL may result in
starting and performance problems. It may also damage metal,
rubber, and plastic parts of the fuel system and will void the
manufacturer warranty. REFER TO THE HONDA OWNER
MANUAL FOR DETAILS.
Gasoline Engine Precautions
►Whenever possible, remove the machine from the trailer and refuel it on the ground. If this
is not possible, refuel with a portable container—rather than from a gasoline dispenser
nozzle—to minimize the risk of static electricity sparks and/or spillage due to overlling.
►Use only approved gasoline containers.
►Do not use a gas pump nozzle lock-open device.
►Never remove the gas cap or add fuel with the engine running.
►Do not smoke while operating or fueling the machine. Be aware at all times of other
sources of ignition that may be present in the area of the machine.

MACHINE COMPONENTS
The SPIDERSCREED™ includes a 10-
foot (3.1m) auger screed head for concrete
screeding.
The screed head features:
• Adjustable plow
• Hardened, double-ight auger
• Floating, vibrating nish blade
Each style screed head has bearings on
each end for the auger and/or roller. There
are also bearings used on the vibrate
assembly on top of the nish blade. It’s essential to grease the screed head after every 4 hours
of use, and also grease and clean of the screed head at the end of a job. These are high-wear
items, so you should always keep spares with you when screeding—in case of failure. The auger
guards are easily removed to assist with clean up.

lower bearings allow all the machine to perform its
unique system of driving and steering.

14
MACHINE COMPONENTS
Ligchine™ manufactures the SPIDERSCREED™ with a
state-of the-art, high-capacity, open-loop hydraulic system.
During normal machine operation, there are three key
elements that you should fully understand and monitor to
extend the life of your hydraulic system: uid temperature,
uid level, and ltration status. Learn more in the sections
below.
Hydraulic System
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE
Machine hydraulic uid temperature must heat up to a MINIMUM of 80° F (28° C) for
the machine to operate at peak performance.
While operating the machine, it’s important to frequently check the hydraulic uid temperature
as shown on the MD4 display. There is also a manual thermometer on the uid level sight
glass. Termperature is regulated by the thermostatically controlled 12V fan attached to a
radiator. The fan is set to turn on when hydraulic uid reaches 120° F (49° C).
Fluid Temperature
If the hydraulic uid temperature exceeds the maximum of 160° F (70° C),
immediately shut down the machine until you are able to determine the cause of the
overheating and correct it.
MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE

15
MACHINE COMPONENTS
Dirt and debris within a hydraulic system can cause serious damage to machine components. The
SPIDERSCREED™ features two contamination lter systems that require maintenance according
to the maintenance schedule. One lter system is a user-serviceable, high-ltration lter that is
accessible directly below the ltration gauge. Also, a magnetic suction lter built into the tank
removes any steel lings or debris from the hydraulic uid. Under normal circumstances, the
magnetic suction lter should last the life of the machine without the need for service.
In addition, the machine has an easy to read ltration gauge located on the top of the hydraulic
uid holding tank. Check it regularly to be certain that your system is performing as designed.
GREENGREEN band - full ow ltration, and no action is necessary.
YELLOWYELLOW band - full ow ltration is functioning, but at a pressure
level above normal. Replace the lter element very soon.
REDRED band* – the lter is in bypass, and the element requires
immediate replacement. Stop the machine and replace the lter.
*NOTE: During cold start situations, the lter may indicate a REDRED
condition for a few minutes until the uid temperature is normal.
If the pointer is in the:
Fluid Filtration
For convenience, use the integral uid level eyeglass on the
side of the hydraulic uid tank. It’s important to frequently check
the uid level to ensure that the level is resting in the middle of
the sight glass or higher.
If uid level drops below the middle point, add ISO 32 grade
hydraulic uid sucient to rell the tank and see the level rise
to the middle of the sight glass. Under normal circumstances,
the uid level should not decrease. A sudden uid level change
is a strong indication that a leak exists somewhere in the
system. It is urgent that you correct this immediately, since
operating the machine with low uid levels will impair proper
function. Also, low hydraulic uid level may pose a safety
threat, and could cause serious damage to the hydraulic
components.
