Light Symphony LS30505SCC User manual

PUMP CONTROL
It may be desirable to exclude circuits from the global ‘Garden On/Off’ buttons on
the remote, so they stay on when the lighting is switched off. This unit can be
programmed to ignore whole “GARDEN ON/OFF” commands by selecting ‘Set-
up’, pressing Garden Off (to switch off the circuit), then pressing the Dim Up &
Down keys together, and then moving the slide switch back to Switch or Dim. As
before, the unit can be programmed into its own ‘Area(s)’ but will now ignore global
‘Garden On/Off’’ commands.

INTRODUCTION
The ‘Lighting Control Module’ is for switching and/or dimming a lighting
circuit. It may be used with all lighting types including mains-halogen,
magnetic low-voltage transformers, most electronic transformers, (compact)
Fluorescent, Metal-Halide, Sodium and LED. Its output is selectable as
dimmable or switching and is suitable for all load types. Before use, ensure the
unit is set correctly, if unsure select ‘Switching’. The unit is designed for
outdoor installation but take note of the safety instructions below.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
REMEMBER ELECTRICITY CAN KILL
IF IN DOUBT CONSULT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN
1. Mount the unit in a safe position to avoid possible damage by mowers or
other garden tools. This unit must not be buried without proper protection.
2. The unit is a double-insulated and therefore requires no earth.
3. The electrical supply must be protected at source by an ‘Earth Leakage’
circuit breaker and suitably low rated fuse (0.5A per 100W’s of load).
4. Where 230V power is routed outside, national wiring regulations must be
adhered to. For UK installations rugged ‘Concentric’ type cable is
recommended above ground.
5. Where 230V power cable is buried, ‘Steel Wire Armoured’ cable must be
used. Buried cables must be at least 450mm (18”) below the surface.
6. BURN HAZARD: Take care not to touch hot lamps and keep children
away.
7. Fully loaded, this lighting module will generate up to 4½Watts of heat.
Ensure adequate space or ventilation to avoid over-heating

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION

ulations.
TESTING & SET-UP
2. Set the MODE switch to SWITCH or DIM to suit the lamp type.
Do not attempt to dim non-dimmable lighting or damage may result.
3. To test the unit is working, press “Garden On/Off” on the remote control.
4. The LED will blink when a wireless command is received.
5. From the factory, the unit only responds to Garden On/Off but can be
programmed to respond to other lighting Area’s using the procedure below;
AREA PROGRAMMING
The lighting channel (circuit) can be included in any number of Light Symphony’s
‘AREAs’. To program the unit into a new ‘Area’ key on the remote;
1. Slide the MODE switch to the ‘Set-up’ position.
(the LED will blink to show the memory is open).
2. Use the ‘Area’ key on the remote*to switch ON the lamp.
( *NOTE: can also use any other Light Symphony transmitter)
3. While the lamp is ON, move the Slide switch to SWITCH or DIM.
The LED will stop flashing and the unit will now be included in the
new Area. Teach other Areas by repeating this process.
The unit can be removed from an ‘Area’ using the same procedure, but with the
lamp OFF when the slide switch is moved from Set-up to SWITCH or DIM.
e.g. Slide the switch to ‘Set-up’, use the Area key you wish to erase to switch OFF
the lamp, then move the slide switch to SWITCH or DIM.
NOTE: The Set-up function will close automatically after 20 seconds if no button
is pressed (LED stops flashing). If required, re-enable it using the slide switch.
SCENE MEMORY
The 29 Area memories can also be used to create lighting Scene’s, where the
whole garden’s lighting configuration and dim-levels can be stored and recalled
with a single button-press. Scene setting is more relevant to dimmable lighting,
but switched scenes are also possible using Light Symphony.
To create a new scene, use the above Area Programming procedure and use the
remote’s Dim keys to set the level before moving the slide switch back to
SWITCH/DIM.
Walk around the garden configuring each lighting controller in turn in the same
way, so all lighting controllers respond to the same Area key.
LIGHT SHOW
By default, all circuits will be included in the light show. To configure which
channels should be included move the slide switch to set-up and press the
‘Rainbow’ key on the remote control two times to switch on the lamp. Circuits
that were ‘off’ when the memory closes will no longer be part of the show.
WIRING
NOTE: NOT suitable for dimming very small transformers (less than 10W). If
the lamp flickers, the transformer is too small or not compatible, Switch
off immediately to prevent damage to the Transformer and/or unit.
