Introduction
Congratulation! You have just received your new Pyro-
terra Lighttoys Boom device, designed for safe use of
your purchased pyrotechnic effect (PE) during fire per-
formances.
Please take a brief moment to read the following in-
structions in order to ensure safe and trouble-free use.
!CAUTION! Use of pyrotechnics is always subject to
local laws and regulations. Please, consult them be-
fore use.

Safety first!
Whenever using Pyroterra Lighttoys Boom products
always follow these basic safety rules:
1) Never leave a loaded Boom device unat-
tended.
2) The person responsible for the control and fir-
ing of pyrotechnics must ensure that it is safe
to do so.
3) The loading and positioning of all devices must
be done with safety foremost.
4) Always take into account all personnel, scen-
ery and other objects on site. Take notice and
ensure that all fabrics in close proximity are
non-flammable. Beware: PE sparks can re-ig-
nite already burned-out fire spinning equip-
ment!
5) All pyrotechnics are potentially dangerous and
must be used strictly in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions and any relevant
data sheets.
6) Pyrotechnic devices must only be used by
competent adults. If misused they can be very
dangerous and cause serious injuries.

Proper use
In order to use Boom devices you need to purchase a
pyrotechnics effect (PE). We recommend stage effects
called: gerbs or silver fountains.
To obtain suitable PE we suggest contacting your local
pyrotechnic resellers, or search for suppliers on the in-
ternet. Pyroterra had good experience with the Le
Maitre Ltd. pyrotechnics provider: http://www.le-

How to attach PE to Boom
device
1) Remove any paper or plastic wrap from PE, in
order to prevent the PE from getting loose
during spinning.
2) Firmly attach the PE to the end of the Boom
device using strong adhesive tape (i.e. duct
tape). Make sure that the PE’s exhaust nozzle
is pointing away from the Boom device.
Note: Do not use any metal or plastic fasteners or
O-rings, in case of PE failure, they could shatter to
pieces and cause injury.
3) Optional: for Boom devices with multiple PEs
(Boom Stick, Fans, Dragon) switch on the main
switch and individually check each PE (one-by-
one) by plugging the metal contacts of the 2
ignitor wires into the nearest terminal. Be
careful not to touch the trigger and always
point the PE from your body.

The status LED should shine in red color. If not,
the ignitor in the PE is faulty and the PE must
be replaced. Switch off the main switch after
the test is over.
Note: To open the terminal, press on the plastic tabs
lightly.
4) Attach the ignitor wires of all the PEs to their
nearest terminals. Make sure the metal con-
tacts are not exposed and the 2 wires don’t
touch each other (it would create a short-cir-
cuit and the PE wouldn’t work).
5) To verify the connection of PE, turn on the
main switch and make sure the status LED is
shining in red color.
The Boom device is now ready for your spectacular
performance by pressing the trigger button!
Note: After the performance make sure to disconnect
all the PE wires from the terminals in order to prevent
any potential damage to the battery.

Maintenance and charging
Charging
The newer Boom device V2 is charged by any standard
5V USB charger via its USB-C charging connector.
The charging is indicated by the blue color of the status
LED. Once the charging is finished, the status LED stops
shining.
A fully charged battery, will last up to about 30 igni-
tions. We recommend charging the Boom device every
2-3 months, even if the device is not used. It’s also
good practice to charge before every major show.
The older Boom device V1 is charged via a proprie-
tary Lighttoys charger with a 3.5mm jack connector.
Maintenance
Periodically clean the terminal contacts mechanically
to protect them from chemical corrosion and pyro-
technic residue. You can also use damp cloth with iso-
propyl alcohol to do so.

Warranty and service
All Pyroterra Lighttoys Boom products are covered by
one year warranty. The warranty will be voided should
the product get in contact with water, misused or im-
properly maintained.
