1 GENERAL PRESENTATION
1.1 Introduction
The PressioLIM is intended for the field of Geotechnic l Investig tion.
This device me sures pressuremeter tests (L.Men rd) ccording to EN-ISO 22476-4
Europe n str nd rd.
1.2 Re inder on the pressure eter test
The L.Men rd pressuremeter test consists of r di lly exp nding three-cell
cylindric l probe pl ced in the ground, me suring nd recording the pressures pplied by
the probe nd the volume v ri tions of the l tter in order to determine the rel tionship
between the pressure pplied nd the exp nsion of the probe.
1.3 Main technical characteristics.
The PressioLIM is Pressure-Volume Controller (Pressuremeter system) with
digit l displ y of the Men rd pressuremeter p r meters. It belongs to the 5th gener tion
of devices developped by LIM SAS.
The PressioLIM uses the most dv nced technologies nd s such, gives you the
benefit of rem rk ble e se of use nd very high reli bility. It h s the following
possibilities nd ch r cteristics:
•Displ y of the pressure nd volume p r meters required to perform the
pressuremeter test ;
•C.A.N. d t bus (Controller Are Network) for use with LIM d t recorder.
1.4 Displayed para eters
The m in pressuremeter p r meters me sured by the PressioLIM re:
•Pr pressure: pressure of the liquid in the centr l cell.
•Pg pressure: g s pressure cont ined in the gu rd cells.
•The different volume v lues in cm3 t 1, 15, 30 nd 60 seconds.
The units for the me sured physic l p r meters re:
•b r for the pressures.
•cm3 for the volume.

2 USING The PressioLIM

2.2 On Off
Connect the power c ble, connect it to the b ttery of the drill rig respecting the
pol rities + blue, - brown, on the power supply socket ( REF 14 ).
A short press on BP0 (REF 1) switches on the power.
A long press on BP0 (REF 1) switches off the power.

2.4 Displays, enus, and sub enus
2.4.1 Ho e enu
On power-up, home menu reminds the seri l number of the device for few
seconds then utom tic lly switches to the m in menu.
2.4.2 Main enu
Choice of the next menu.
Return to the cquisition menu.
Menu selection.
2.4.3 Inclination enu
Allows the PressioLIM to be leveled to optimize volume me surement.
The PressioLIM is level when the cross (+) is in the center of the circle.

2.4.4 Acquisition enu
This menu llows the perform nce of pressuremeter test, it displ ys in re l time
the volume nd the differenti l pressure or the liquid pressure nd the g s pressure.
Toggle displ y Pdi - VOL or PR - PG.
B ck to m in menu.
Volume zeroing.
St rt, stop of the pressuremeter test.
Actions :
•Toggle display:
Pdi & VOL display. PR & PG display.
•Zero Volu e:
In order to st rt test t 0 cm3, volume reset c n be performed. The m ximum
offset toler ted on the volume is 20 cm3. Beyond th t, the oper tor must djust the w ter
level of the column so th t the volume ppro ches zero.
The volume indicates 2 cm3. The volume now shows 0 cm3.

•Start test:
A test l sts 60 sec, the PressioLIM records the pressures nd the volume t 1,
15, 30 nd 60 seconds. The progress b r t the top of the screen provides inform tion on
the progress of the test.
Test progress:
Test at 1 sec Test at 15 sec Test at 3 sec Test at 6 sec
The results (see 2.4.5) re displ yed utom tic lly t the end of the test.
The test c n be termin ted t ny time. The results displ yed will of course be
incomplete.
2.4.5 Test results display
Reminds the import nt p r meters of the test.
Pr the pressure of the liquid t the st rt of the test.
Fluage the difference in volume t 60 sec nd t 30 sec.
Delta60 the difference in volume t 60 sec between two consecutive tests.
Vxx the volume t 1, 15, 30 nd 60 sec.
Note This displ y is only ccessible fter the end of test.

2.4.9 Pressure enu
It informs the p r meters of the pressure sensors: the sc le nd the offset on the
me surement.
Choice of the p r meter to modify.

2.4.10 Pressure sensor scale sub enu
It is used to modify the sc le of the pressure sensor.

Note The PressioLIM is only fitted with 100 b r sensors.
2.4.11 Pressure sensor offset sub enu
It is possible th t the pressure sensors h ve residu l pressure when empty,
which is why it is necess ry to djust the offsets.
Memorizes the residu l pressure.

Note If the drift is gre ter th n 0.5 b r, the sensor must be ch nged.

2.5 Volu e Calibration
There re two methods to c libr te the volume
2.5.1 Manual entry
M nu l entry of sensor volt ges in the 650 nd 100 cm3 c libr tion submenus.

2.5.2 Calibration procedure
•Cle r the column..
•Fill bout 50 cm3.
•Enter the 650 cm3 c libr tion submenu.
•Store the sensor volt ge s volt ge reference t 650 cm3, by pressing SET.
•V lid te OK.
•Accur tely fill the column with volume of 550cm3 (to re ch 100cm3).
•Enter the 100cm3 c libr tion submenu.
•Store the sensor volt ge s volt ge reference t 100cm3, by pressing SET.
•V lid te OK.
Note This setting is m de t the f ctory, it is not necess ry to redo it.

2.6 Connecting the LIM recorder
•Connect the LIM recorder with the CAN c ble to the CAN BUS socket ( REF 13 ).
•Switch on the PressioLIM.
•M ke sure th t the LIM recorder detects the PressioLIM.
•With 5th or 6th gener tion recorder, it is not necess ry to perform the c libr tion.
The recorder utom tic lly retrieves the c libr ted v lues from the PressioLIM.
