Getting Started - MX Keys for Mac

DETAILED SETUP
1. Make sure the keyboard is turned on.
The number 1 LED on the keyboard should blink quickly.
NOTE: If the LED is not blinking quickly, perform a long press (three seconds).
2. Choose how you want to connect.
Important
FileVault is an encryption system available on some Mac computers. When enabled, it
might prevent Bluetooth® devices from connecting with your computer if you have not
yet logged in. If you have FileVault enabled, we recommend using a Logitech USB
receiver to use your mouse. If you need more information, click here.
oUse the included wireless receiver:
Plug the receiver into a USB port on your computer. If you are working on a
desktop, we recommend using the USB receiver.

oConnect using Bluetooth:
Open the Bluetooth settings on your computer to complete the pairing.

3. Install Logi Options+ Software
Download Logi Options+ to use all the possibilities this keyboard has to offer. To
download and learn more, go to logitech.com/optionsplus.
PAIR TO A SECOND COMPUTER WITH EASY-SWITCH
Your keyboard can be paired with up to three different computers using the Easy-Switch button
to change the channel.
1. Select the channel you want and press and hold the Easy-Switch button for three
seconds. This will put the keyboard in discoverable mode so that it can be seen by your
computer. The LED will start blinking quickly.
2. To connect your keyboard to your computer:
oBluetooth: Open the Bluetooth settings on your computer to complete the
pairing. You can find more details here.
oUSB receiver: Plug the receiver to a USB port, open Logitech Options, and select:
Add devices > Setup Unifying device, and follow the instructions.
3. Once paired, a short press on the Easy-Switch button will allow you to switch channels.

Battery Status Notification
Your keyboard will let you know when it is running low. From 100% to 11% your LED will be
green. From 10% and below, the LED will be red. You can continue typing for more than 500
hours without backlighting when the battery is low.
Plug the USB-C cable at the top right corner of your keyboard. You can continue typing while it
is charging.

Smart backlighting
Your keyboard has an embedded ambient light sensor that reads and adapts the level of
backlighting accordingly.
Room brightness
Backlight level
Low light - under 100 lux
L2 - 25%
Mid light - between 100 and 200 lux
L4 - 50%
High light - over 200 lux
L0 - no backlight*
Backlight is turned OFF.
There are eight backlight levels.
You can change the backlight levels at any time, with two exceptions: the backlight cannot be
turned ON when:
•The room brightness is high (above 200 lux)
•The keyboard battery is low (below 10%)
Software notifications
Install Logitech Options+ software to get the most out of your keyboard. Click
logitech.com/optionsplus for more information.

1. Backlight level notifications
Change the backlight level and to know in real-time what level you have.
2. Backlighting disabled
There are two factors that will disable backlighting:
When your keyboard has only 10% of battery left when you try to enable backlighting,
this message will appear. If you want backlight back, plug your keyboard to charge.
When the environment around you is too bright, your keyboard will automatically
disable backlighting to avoid using it when not needed. This will also allow you to use it
longer with backlight in low light conditions. You will see this notification when you try
to turn backlighting ON.
3. Low battery
When your keyboard reaches 10% of battery left, backlighting turns OFF and you get a
battery notification on the screen.
4. F-Keys switch
Press Fn + Esc to swap between Media keys and F-Keys. We’ve added a notification to
let you know you’ve swapped.
NOTE: By default, the keyboard has direct access to Media Keys.

Logitech Flow
You can work on multiple computers with your MX Keys keyboard. With a Flow-enabled
Logitech mouse, such as MX Master 3, you can work and type on multiple computers with the
same mouse and keyboard using Logitech Flow technology.
You can use the mouse cursor to move from one computer to the next. The MX Keys keyboard
will follow the mouse and switch computers at the same time. You can even copy and paste
between computers. You will need to install Logi Options+ software on both computers and
follow these instructions.

Step-1
Download Logitech Options to use all the possibilities this mouse has to offer. To download and
learn more about the possibilities go to logitech.com/options.
Step-2
Turn your mouse on.
Step-3
This mouse allows you to use it with up to three different computers. Just use the Easy-Switch™
button to change the channel. Select the channel you want and go to the next step.
Step-4
To connect your mouse to your computer press the Easy-Switch™ button for 3 seconds. When it
blinks fast it means it's in discoverable mode.
Step-5
Choose if you want to pair with Bluetooth or with the provided Unifying receiver.

Features:
Speed adaptive scroll-wheel
If SmartShift™ is enabled, the speed-adaptive scroll wheel shifts between two scrolling modes
automatically, in response to your touch.
•Click-to-click (ratchet) mode —ideal for precise navigation of items and lists.
•Hyper-fast (freespin) mode —near-frictionless spinning, letting you fly through long documents and
web pages.

Enable SmartShift
Select Enable from the SmartShift pull-down menu on the Point and scroll tab.
Turn off SmartShift by selecting Disable from the SmartShift pull-down menu.
When SmartShift is disabled, spinning or braking the scroll wheel has no effect on the current scrolling
mode.
Switch modes manually
Whether SmartShift is enabled or disabled, you can manually switch between modes by pressing the mode
shift button.
By default, mode shift is assigned to the button on top of the mouse. (Check current button assignments
on the Mouse tab.)

Set a fixed scroll wheel mode
If you prefer to use just one mode, you can fix the scroll wheel to either click-to-click (ratchet) or hyper-
fast (freespin) mode.
On the Point and scroll tab, select Ratchet or Freespin from the Fixed scroll wheel mode pull-down menu.
IMPORTANT!
You can fix the scroll wheel mode only if SmartShift is disabled and mode shift is not assigned to any MX
Master button.
To activate fixed scroll wheel mode:
•Select Disable from the SmartShift pull-down menu.
•On the Mouse tab, click the highlighted mode shift button and select an action other than mode shift.

Thumb wheel
Scroll side to side effortlessly with a stroke of your thumb.
To scroll horizontally:
•Spin the thumb wheel up (to scroll right) or down (to scroll left)
Install Logitech Options software to extend thumb wheel capabilities:
•Invert scrolling direction
•Reproduce touch-based gestures
•Adjust scrolling speed and resolution
•Navigate tabbed content
•Switch apps

Gesture button
GESTURES STREAMLINE NAVIGATION AND DESKTOP MANAGEMENT
Install Logitech Options software to enable gestures for managing media, panning, zoom, and rotation,
plus custom tasks.

Assign up to five different actions to the Gesture button. Or map gestures to other MX Master buttons,
including the middle button or manual shift button.
To perform a gesture:
•Hold down the Gesture button while moving the mouse left, right, up, or down.
The figure below shows the gestures for managing windows in Windows 8 and in Mac OS X.
Back/Forward buttons

Conveniently located at your thumb, the back and forward buttons enhance navigation and simplify tasks.
To move back and forward:
•Press the back or forward button to navigate web or document pages, depending on the location of
the mouse pointer.
NOTE: On the Mac, enabling of the back/forward buttons requires installation of Logitech Options
software. Install Logitech Options software to unlock new capabilities for the back/forward buttons. In
addition to enabling the buttons for use with Macs, Logitech Options software lets you map other useful
functions to the buttons, including OS navigation, zoom, dictionary lookup, and more.
Battery

1 –Charging cable
RECHARGE MX MASTER 2S
•Connect one end of the provided charging cable to the Micro-USB port on the mouse and the other
end to a USB power source.
A minimum of 3 minutes charging gives you enough power for a full day of use. Depending on how you
use the mouse, a full charge can last up to 70 days*.
* Based on eight hours of daily use. Battery life may vary depending on user and operating conditions.
CHECK BATTERY STATUS
Three LED lights on the side of the mouse indicate battery status.
Install Logitech Options software to receive battery status notifications, including low-charge warnings.
