Junior Arch Owner’s Manual
The Junior Arch is a great tool for moving logs, bucking firewood and felling “hung-up” trees. With
its small, light frame, it is designed for hand use. Junior is a great little helper as it will allow you to
safely move a log that would normally take two men to move. It works on logs from 4” to 16” in
diameter weighing up to 1000 pounds. We offer several accessories, to make Junior the handiest of
tools to have.
Read all instructions before using.
Remain constantly aware that safe operating is your responsibility.
The tongs on the Junior arch are designed to move logs, poles, and beams only.
Do NOT use the arch to move logs on any public road.
Do NOT lift the arch when loaded.
Maintain control over the load at all times to prevent the arch and its load from springing up
abruptly.
Assembly
•Place reach (b) in brackets of arch frame (a) so
that the tongs hang on the unobstructed side of
frame.
•Line up the round holes of the bracket on the arch
with the holes in the reach. Attaching this bracket
first will ease assembly. (pic A)
•Use the 3/8” - 16 bolts (h) and 3/8” - 16 lock nuts
(i) to attach. Tighten with two 9/16” wrenches.
•Use the remaining nuts and bolts to attach the
front of the arch frame to the reach.
•Place wave washer (e) on axle (d) (may be
preassembled).
•With valve stem facing you, insert axle (d) through the
wheels (c) (pic B).
•Insert 1/4-20 x 1 1/2” bolt (f) through the frame and
axle. Attach 1/4”-20 lock nut (g) and tighten with two
7/16” wrenches (pic C).
•Open and close tongs by hand to loosen the powder
coating.

Maintenance
•Keep tires inflated to recommended pressures.
•Lubricate wheel bearings with Bluecreeper.
•Check bolts for tightness.
•Check tong tips for sharpness. File as needed. Do NOT use a grinder.
Usage
Moving Logs
•Position the arch so it straddles the log at the balance or mid-
point of the log.
•Lift the reach upright, to lower the tongs around the log.
•Set the tongs by pulling down on the reach (pic D).
pic D
•Place one hand on the end of the reach and one on the round
handle. With one swift motion, pull the handle down to your
waist (pic E)
•With the log fully suspended, you can push or pull the log. You
can also pivot the log with your free hand to steer the log around
obstacles.
•Keeping control of the reach, lower the log to the ground. A
quick release of the tongs takes practice; lower the log, pull the
arch back, then strike down the tongs with the nose of the arch.

Pro Tip: When using the arch in a brushy area where
the wheels won’t roll; pump the log out, by setting the
tongs, bringing the wheels toward you and as you lift the
log, the log will travel toward you about one foot, drop
the log and repeat.
Log is fully suspended and ready to
move in any direction.

Bucking Firewood
•Set tongs by straddling the arch
over the log and pull down on
the reach (pic F).
•Push the reach down and set it
down on the ground near the
log.
Felling Hung-Up Trees
For this technique, you need a low stump and the tree must be totally cut through.
•Always set tongs perpendicular to the trunk of the hung-up tree (pic G).
•Pull down on the reach, the arch will pick the tree up off the stump.
•With the tree off the ground, pull the tree back away from the stump until it falls.
This technique can be seen in the Junior Arch product video found on our website or on our YouTube
Channel.
Reposition Junior along the log
as needed.

WARNING: The log will want to
push you. Be aware of your path
and be prepared to drop the log.
Lower the log to use it as a brake.

Junior Extension Handle
Extends the reach of the Junior by 36”. The
extension handle is designed to give the operator a
longer reach. This option allows the operator to walk
in front of a 16’ log.

Options
Wide Tires
The Wide Tire Option offers better flotation
when operating on soft ground. Additionally,
it gives Junior a wider stance which can be
beneficial when working on slopes or using
Junior as a tag axle. This option changes the
width of the unit to 34.75” and weight to 70
pounds.

Increase the Functionality of Your Junior with these Attachments
Use the Junior Chain Adapter with a 1/4” or 5/16” choker chain to haul
small branches, pipes, or beams. Can also be used to pull out fence
posts, small stumps, storm sewer grates or other things that can be
lifted with a chain.
To Use: wrap the choker chain around the midpoint of the items to be lifted or carried. Place chain
through the c-hook/choker hook and pull it snug around object. With Junior straddling the load at the
load’s midpoint, lift Junior’s handle to lower the Chain Adapter over the load. Hook the chain into the grab
hook of the adapter by sliding one entire link into the hook. Hook the chain leaving a few links between
the c-hook and the grab hook. Fewer links will give you more lift or clearance. Push down on Junior’s
handle to lift the load. Maintain pressure on handle until the load is lowered to the ground.
To Install: open junior’s tongs and place them back on
Junior’s frame. Slide the Chain Adapter over the end of
Junior above the tong ring. Secure with 1/2” hitch pin.
MAINTAIN CONTROL OVER THE LOAD AT ALL TIMES TO PREVENT THE ARCH
AND ITS LOAD FROM SPRINGING UP ABRUPTLY.

To Install: Nothing to install
just open Junior’s tongs and
place them back on Junior’s
frame.
Now you can use your Junior Arch as a trailer dolly! Great for
positioning sawmills, trailers, splitters or anything on wheels with a 2”
ball. Equipped with three height adjustments so you can reach any
coupler. Note: 2” ball can be replaced with any ball with a 3/4” shank.
To Use: Slide strap under the load so that the loops are facing away from the load. Wrap the strap
around the load and slide the straight portion of the hook into the loop that provides a snug fit around
the load. With Junior straddling the load at the load’s midpoint lift Junior’s handle and hook the strap
into Junior’s ring. Push down on Junior’s handle to lift the load. Maintain pressure on handle until the
load is lowered to the ground.
With the Junior Sling, you can move beams, pipes, steel tube and all
kinds of long, heavy objects that you can’t or don’t want to use the
Junior’s sharp tongs on. The Junior Sling has 7 adjustment points so
that you can pick up square or round objects from 4” to 12” wide.
To Use: To determine the height of the ball, hold Junior’s
handle level, the ball should be a minimum of 2” above the
coupler. Once the Trailer Dolly Adapter has been installed
and adjusted, lift Junior’s handle to lower and place the ball
under the coupler. Push down on Junior’s handle to hook
the ball into the coupler. Keep constant downward
pressure on Junior’s handle as you use Junior to position
your trailer. Raise Junior’s handle to lower the trailer and
disengage the ball.

To Install: Open Junior’s tongs and hook them back on Junior’s frame. Place adapter over the Junior
above the tongs and secure with 1/2” hitch pin. Remove pin and slide the hitch out of the adapter.
(You may have to turn the hitch around so it is 180º from the position it was shipped.) Slide the hitch up
or down to line up the hole for your desired height.
