5. Using the web application
To test/evaluate the Zeus hand you can open the
Zeus Congurator web application by following the
provided instructions.
•Connect the Zeus hand to the Demo stand and turn it on.
•Open a Google Chrome (version 56 or higher) web brows-
er or Microsoft Edge (version 90 or higher) web browser.
•Open the following url in the chosen web browser: https://
www.zeus-congurator.com/
•The prompt asking for credentials should pop up. Please
use the following credentials:
»Username: aether
»Password: rozwiertak
•Provide the following password: Zeus2021 and click the
Next button.
Using the web application you can change the grips available
to the user, check the EMG signal acquired from the patient’s
muscles, tweak ngers positions in all of the grips and select
desired settings of the Zeus hand.

1. Connecting to the Demo stand
The Zeus demo unit comes with the device named “Demo
stand”. You can use it to test the prosthesis’ functionalities
without connecting it to the socket.
To connect the Zeus hand with the Demo stand you need to
align the wrist of the prosthesis with the lamination ring in the
Demo stand. Push the Zeus hand towards the Demo stand
and rotate it 90 degrees in either direction.
To disconnect the Zeus hand from the Demo stand you need
to rotate the prosthesis in either direction until you feel the
resistance. Continue rotating in the same direction and gently
pull the Zeus hand from the Demo stand.
2. Powering on and charging
To power on the Demo stand unit push and hold the
black button on the front of the Demo stand for 2 seconds.
The LED display should activate red bars step by step, going
up. You will know that the Demo stand is turned on if the LED
embedded in the front button is shining red.
You can check the battery status of the Demo stand
by clicking the black front button. It will shortly turn on the LED
bar display. Number of LED bars turned on is proportional to
the battery level.
To turn the battery o you need to hold the power
button for a full 2 seconds again. It will also power down by
itself after 30 mins of inactivity.
4. Controlling the Zeus prosthesis
You can use the EMG electrodes or the force sensors
on the sides of the Demo stand to simulate the signal of EMG
sensors. Pressing them gently will generate low signal and by
increasing the force proportionally you can generate higher
signal.
After powering on the hand it generates a short beep
and doesn’t move its ngers until the user generates a Change
Signal which is by default co-contraction (signal from both in-
puts at the same time). After receiving a change signal the Zeus
hand opens all of its ngers and moves them to the initial posi-
tion of the default grip of the current thumb position.
To close the ngers of the Zeus hand press the right
force sensor on the Demostand or generate an EMG signal on
the exion electrode. To open the
ngers of the Zeus hand press the left force sensor on the
Demostand or generate an EMG signal on the extension elec-
trode.
The Zeus hand is by default congured in the pair-
ing grip changing mode, the selected change signal is short
co-contraction and secondary change signal is long co-con-
traction. In the pairing mode, the grips are arranged in a hierar-
chical manner, allowing for quick access. The rst level of
division is based on the position of the thumb. When the
thumb is in the opposed position, the opposed group of grips
is active and when the thumb is in the non-opposed position,
the non-opposed group of grips is active.
To switch between the opposed group of grips and the non-op-
posed group of grips, the user has to move the thumb in the
desired position and then provide a change signal.
Within each group of grip, there are two subgroups - the pri-
mary group and the secondary group. Each subgroup has two
grips within it, the default grip and the alternate grip.
To switch between the default grip and the alternate grip,
provide a Change Signal. To switch between the subgroups,
primary group and the secondary group, provide a Secondary
Change Signal.
When you change the position of the thumb, provide a Change
Signal to allow the prosthesis to change between the opposed
and non-opposed group of grips.
To charge the Demo stand connect it via micro USB cable to
the 5V charger. It is recommended to use the charger provided
with the Demo stand.
3. Connecting the electrodes
You can connect the desired EMG sensors to the
Demo stand to test them with the patient without the need
of a test socket. At the bottom of the Demo stand there is a
place for the kidney connectors. The top one is a power supply
connector, the right one is for the 3 pin kidney connector for
the exion signal electrode and the left one is for the 3 pin
kidney connector for the extension signal electrode. It is better
to connect the electrodes while the Demo stand is turned o.
After you connect them you can place them on the
myo sites and put a wrist band around them. You should dis-
connect the electrodes while using the Demo stand with force
sensors as they might pick up the signals and make controlling
the hand more dicult.
