ROOBOKART ASSEMBLY MANUAL
2
Assembly
The Roobokart is supplied in an assembly kit that includes all the
components necessary for assembly and programming.
The chassis mounting instructions are contained inside the envelope
that contains the parts that make it up, including the two direct current
motors.
Once the chassis is mounted, we bring the cables of the two engines to
the left as in the figure above.
We place the motherboard in the back of the chassis and fix it to this
using the provided spacers.
One solution is the one provided in the following photo, but it is not the
only one, other solutions are possible as long as they are useful to attach
the motherboard to the chassis.
3
It is preferable to place the motherboard as proposed, in order to then
install the battery on the axle of the motors, in order to favor the
adherence of the Roobokart to the road.
4
After mounting the motherboard on the chassis, we move on to
mounting the front board which includes proximity sensors, color sensor
and infrared sensors.
Here, too, we use spacers.
These should be mounted with the screws in the lower part, so as not to
facilitate contact with the road surface.
5
The sensor board can be attached to the bottom of the chassis as
shown below.
If alternatives to the proposed assembly are followed, it is important to
bear in mind that the sensor board must be as close as possibleto the
road surface, but without crawling on it.
6
At this point we can insert the cable from the front sensor board, into the
motherboard.
7
Under the cable, the battery will find space.
At this point we can switch to the connection of the two motors.
The left motor, looking from above, must be connected to the B+/B-
clamps, while the right motor to the A+/A- clamps.
Connect the red clamp on the pole + and the black clamp on the -, but
keep in mind that it may be necessary to reverse the polarities to make
the rotation direction compatible with the control software.
The test firmware will tell us if the polarities are correct.
To power the engines you need a jumper between the E5V and VIN pins.
The jumper can be made with a jumper, or with a cable
8
The figure below shows the connection with a Dupont cable.
We insert the Core card on the motherboard taking care to match the
pins as in the figures below.
9
Let's push it all the way
10
Everything is ready to feed the Roobokart.
We connect the USB cable taking care to pass it between the two parts
of the chassis, in order to minimize the footprint.
The USB cable must be connected between the battery and the Nucleo
board which will provide power to the motherboard, sensors and
motors.
