LUKAS products are developed and manufactured to ensure the best performance and
qualitywhenusedasintended.
Thesafetyoftheoperatoristhemostimportantconsiderationinproductdesign.Furthermore,
theoperatinginstructionsareintendedtohelpinusingLUKASproductssafely.
Thegenerallyapplicablelegalandotherbindingregulationspertainingtothepreventionof
accidentsandprotectionoftheenvironmentapplyandaretobecompliedwithinadditionto
theoperatinginstructions.
The equipment may only be operated by persons with appropriate training in the safety
aspectsofsuchequipment,otherwisethereisariskofinjury.
Wewouldliketopointouttoallusersthattheyshouldreadcarefullytheoperatinginstructions
andtheinstructionscontainedthereinbeforetheyusetheequipment,andthattheyshould
becarefullyfollowed.

whenhandlinghydraulicuid,
notethatitcannegativelyaect
biologicalsystems.
Whenworkingwithorstoring
theequipment,ensurethatthe
functionandthesafetyofthe
equipmentarenotimpaired
bytheeectsofsevere
externaltemperaturesorthat
theequipmentisdamagedin
anyway.Pleasenotethatthe
equipmentcanalsoheatup
overalongperiodofuse.
Makesurethereisadequate
lightingwhileworking.
Beforetransportingthe
equipment,alwaysensurethat
theaccessoriesarepositioned
insuchawaythattheycannot

3. Intended use
You can obtain accessories and replacement parts for the rescue equipment from your
authorisedLUKASdealer!

Thesafetyinstructionsintheseoperatinginstructionsconcerningtheinstallation
siteandtypeofinstallationmustalwaysbeobserved!
LUKAS hydraulic units are specially designed to supply LUKAS rescue equipment with
hydraulicuidsothatthisequipmentcanbeusedtorescuevictimsofroad,railorairtrac
accidents,aswellasfrombuildings.
Theiruseforsupplyingpressure/uidtoliftingsystemsofothermanufacturersispossible,
butrequiresthetechnicalinspectionandapprovalofLUKASineachindividualcase.
The equipment is not designed to operate without hoses or equipment
(operatingtime<15minutes).
ATTENTION!
When selecting the equipment to connect to the unit, bear in mind that the
maximumpossibleuseablevolumeofhydraulicuidislimited.
The sum of the maximum required operating volume (hydraulic uid) of all
connectedequipmentmay not exceed the maximumpossibleusable volume
oftheunit!
NOTE:
AlwaysregisteryourhydraulicunitontheLUKASHydraulikGmbHinternetsite.
Thisistheonlywaytoguaranteeyourextendedwarrantycover.
Beforeyouusecouplingsfromadierentcompany,youmustcontactLUKASor
anauthoriseddealer.
LUKASunitsofthetypeP630arenot explosionprotected!
When using the equipment in explosion risk areas you must make sure that
operationoftheunitdoesnottriggeranexplosion!
The responsibility for explosion prevention or for ruling out work with the P
630restswiththeoperatorofthedeviceor with the personresponsibleatthe
operatingsite.
When working in areas at risk of explosion, all applicable legal,
national and international regulations, standards and safety rules
for avoiding explosions must be observed without restriction!
The equipment should not come into contact with acids or alkalis. If this is
unavoidable,cleantheequipmentimmediatelyafterwardswithasuitablecleaning
agent.

OnallLUKAShydraulicunits,thehydraulicpump is operated with an engine.Thepump
conveys uid from the hydraulic oil tank and builds up the pressure in the tool. Fluid is
distributedtotheconnectedequipmentthroughvalves.
TheP630OGisaunitwithabaseandwithagasolineengineandsingle-owoperation.
AllLUKASrescuedevicescanbeoperatedwiththestandardfactoryhydraulicuidllingof
1.7l(0.45gal.-US).
An exception applies, however,forthefollowingrescuerams:

Beforeusinganyoneofthesecylindersyoushouldllthehydraulicoilreservoiruptothe
toplevelmarkofthellingindicator.Pleasenotethatthiswaytheweightofthemotorpump
willincreasecorrespondingly.
Theextensionhosepairsespeciallydesignedforthispowerunitare5m(16.4ft.)and10m
(32.8ft.)long.

5.3.1 Gasoline engine
Thesehydraulicunitsareequippedwithacombustionenginedrivenbygasoline.
Theunitsareequippedwithacablestarterwithwhichtheengineisstarted.
(For specic details, please consult the separate operating instructions of the engine
manufacturer!)
NOTE:
TheengineinstalledinLUKASunitsdoesnotmatcheverydetailoftheengine
describedinthemanufacturer'sseparateoperatinginstructions.
Nevertheless, it is important that you follow all safety rules and operating,
maintenance and storage instructions in the separate engine instructions as
given,astheyarenotaectedbyadjustmentsmadebyLUKAS.
TheHONDAengineshaveamainswitchthatmustbeactivatedtoswitchtheuniton
ando.Thespeedadjustmentleverforthisunithasbeenpermanentlysetforrescue
equipmentuse.
Switch setting (standard): Speed 4500 rpm " " may not be changed.
(Forotherapplications,thelevercanbeadjusteduptotheupperlimitstop"".Setting
takesplacebyadjustingthelimitscrewandmovingthespeedadjustmentlever.)

5.4 Connecting block with mono coupling
Thepumpblock is integrated intothehydraulic unit.Thehose assemblies (pressure line
(grey)andreturn(blue))mustbeconnectedtothepumpblockviathemono-coupling.The
rescueequipmentisconnectedtothehoseassembly.
Thehosesareconnectedwiththeconnectingblockviaamono-coupling.
ATTENTION!
Whenoperatingseveralpiecesofrescueequipmentwithoneunit,ensurethat
the usable volume of hydraulic uid in the unit is greater than the maximum
possibleoperatinguidvolumeofallconnectedrescueequipment!
TheLUKAShydraulicunitP630OGcomesequippedwithasingle-owpump.Thepumpis
rigidlyconnectedtotheconnectingblock.

Thepumpusedalwayshastwopressurestages-onelowpressureandonehighpressure.
Low-pressurelevel(LP) = upto14MPa*
High-pressurelevel(HP)= upto70MPa*
Thechangeoverfromlowpressuretohighpressureiscarriedoutautomaticallybythepump.
Thissystemissecuredwithapressurelimitingvalve.Therefore,themaximumpermissible
systempressurecannotbeexceeded.

connection components are not contaminated with dirt. Clean prior to use if

The hose assemblies / equipment are connected via quick-disconnect coupling halves
(femaleandmale)tothehydraulicpumporhosereelin suchawaythattheycannotbe
reversed.

Remove the dust caps before coupling together. Then push the male and female parts
together and turn the locking sleeve on the female coupling in the direction "1" until the
lockingsleeveclicksinplace.Theconnectionhasbeenmadeandlocked.Decouplingis
accomplishedbyturningthelockingsleeveindirection"0".
Couplingofthehoseassemblieswhenunderpressureisalsopossible,assumingthatthe
connectedequipmentisnotturnedon.
NOTE:
We recommend connecting the coupling halves in a depressurised state
whenworkinginareaswithlowambienttemperatureandusingextensionhose
assemblies/hosereels,asotherwisethecouplingmayrequiretheapplication
ofagreatdealofforce.
Fordustprotection,thesupplieddustcapsmustberetted.
Using the dust protection caps:
Thedustprotectioncaps"A"havetwoexternalgrooves"B".Thedustprotectioncapsmust
beinsertedinthefemalecouplinginsuchawaythatthegroovescanbeguidedoverthepins
"C".Screwinthedustprotectioncapstothelimitstoptoxtheminthecouplingsockets.

7. Erection and start-up

Because of possible spark formation, combustion engine units and electrical
equipmentmustnotbeusedinan explosion-risk area. Units with combustion
enginesmustnotbeusedinenclosedspaces,asthereisadangerofpoisoning
and/orasphyxiation!
Theunitistobesetupinasuitablelocation(safelocation/atsurface/sucientdistance
fromvehicles,loads,sourcesofignition,etc.).
LUKASunitsworkperfectlyatanangleofupto20°.However,inordertoguaranteemaximum
safetyanduidwithdrawal,theyshouldbeoperatedinashorizontalapositionaspossible.
ATTENTION!
Nevermixupthefuelandhydraulicuidtankswhenllingthetank;thiscan
damagetheunit!
NOTE:
Theengineoillevelmustbeinspectedbeforetherstcommissioningorafter
longerperiodsofstorage.Firstlltheengineortopupwithengineoil!
Forsafetyreasons,LUKASunitsdonotcontainengineoilupondelivery!
7.2.1 First commissioning - Unit without engine oil and gasoline.
1.Pour in the engine oil according to the instructions
in the scope of delivery included with the separate
manufacturer operating instructions regarding the ller
opening(engineoilllercap,seechapter"Installationof
theunit").
2. Pour hydraulic oil into the hydraulic uid tank until the
lling level indicator in the viewing window is between
MIN/MAX (see illustration on the right). The upper
mark shows the absolute lling level when connecting
additionalequipmentwithincreasedusablevolume.The
resultingllquantityisupto3.0l.
3.Pourfuel(gasoline)intothetankuptotheloweredge
ofthefuellevelmark,i.e.aconvexedgebelowtheller
opening.Iftheunitisrestingonaninclinedsurface,do
notllthetanktoitsmaximumcapacity.

4.Nowventthehydraulicunit(afterrellingorhydraulicoilchange):
5.Openandremovethetankcapsothatairentersthetank.
6.Opentheventingscrewonthepumpblock,tilttheunitbackwardsbyapprox.45°-60°
(seeillustration)andwaituntiloilcomesoutfromthescrew.Ifnecessary,tiltthepump
further. The lling level should be between MIN/MAX when the unit is in a horizontal
position.Forllinglevel,seeillustrationbelow.
7.Ifoilcomesoutattheventingscrew,theairhasescapedoutofthepump.Firstclosethe
ventingplugandthenreturntheunittolevel.
8.Checktheuidlevelsagain.Topupifnecessary.
9.Now connect the extension hoses and/or hose reels (unless already connected tothe
unit)and/orconnecttherescueequipment.

7.2.2 Commissioning(aftertherstllingorpriortouse)
1.Check the uid level of the engine oil, the hydraulic uid and the fuel tank. Top up if
necessary.Forprecisereadingoftheuidlevelsandfortoppingup,thehydraulicunit
shouldbeaslevelaspossible.
2.Nowconnecttheextensionhosesand/orhosereels(unlessalreadyconnectedtotheunit)
and/orconnecttherescueequipment.
Beforestartingthecombustionengine,checkthatthefueltankisfullandthattheengineoil
leveliswithinthepermittedtolerances.Ifnecessary,topuptherelevantuid.
1.Opengasolinetap.
2.SettheON/OFFswitchtotheONposition.
3.Move lever from switching position A to switching
positionB(choke)whenstartingfromcold
4.Pullstartercable.
5.Whentheengineisrunning,switchtheleverbackto
positionA.
For the detailed procedure for starting the combustion
engine,pleaseseetheseparateoperatinginstructions
of the engine manufacturer!

8.2 Stopping the engine
ATTENTION!
Theenginecanbefullyuseddirectlyafterstartingit.
However, after starting, the engine must be allowed to run for at least two
minutes beforeswitchingito,sothatnomalfunctioncanorprematurewear
andtearcanoccur.

Onceworkhasbeencompleted,allconnectedequipmentistoberesettoitsneutralposition
(storageposition)beforetheunitisshutdown.Subsequently,youcanswitchtheengineo.
Mono-couplings:
If the connected hose assemblies are to be dismantled during shut-down, decouple as
describedinchapter"Couplingthemono-couplings".Ensurethatyouputthedustprotection
capsbackontothemono-couplinghalves.
Cleanthehydraulicunitofanystubborndirtpriortostorage.
Ifthe equipment is to be stored for a longer period oftime, the exterior is to be cleaned
completelyandthemechanicallymobilepartsaretobelubricated.Youshouldalsoremove
thefuelfromthefueltank.
AvoidstoringtheP630OGinadampenvironment.
Observe the additional regulations in the separate operating instructions for the hoses.
Theenginemustbeswitchedoforrefuelling!
Procedure:
1. Openthefueltankcap.
2. Pourfuelintothetankuptotheloweredgeofthefuellevelindicator,i.e.theconvexedge
belowthelleropening.
3. Closethefueltankagainwiththefueltankcap.
WARNING / CAUTION / ATTENTION!
Besurenottospillfuel.Inparticular,hotenginepartsmustnotcomeinto
contactwithfuel;dangerofreotherwise!
Iffuelisspilled,itmustbecleanedupimmediatelywithasuitableabsorbent
cloth.Indoingso,becarefulnottoburnyourselfononeofthehotengine
parts!Theusedclothmustthenbecleanedordisposedofaccordingtothe
relevantprovisionsandguidelines.
8.3 Refuelling
8.4 Controlling the valves
Themono-couplinghasbeendesignedinsuchawaythattheyareautomaticallyinthede-
pressurisedstatewithoutaconnecteddevice.
Thecontrolunitonthedevicecontrolstheswitchingofthevalvewhenthedeviceis
connected.
9. Dismantling the equipment / deactivation following
operation
CAUTION!
Dependingonthesizeandweightofthehydraulicunit,itshouldbetransported
tothestoragelocationbyoneormorepersons.

10. Tests
Thehydraulicunitsaresubjecttoveryhighlevelsofmechanicalstress.Avisualinspection
musttherefore be carried out afterevery use and at leastone visual inspection must be
carriedouteverysixmonths.
This reveals wear and tear in good time; punctual replacement of these wearing parts
preventsdamagetotheequipment.Alsocheckregularlythatallthesecuringscrewsare
tightened(ifapplicable,observetheprescribedtighteningtorques).
Every3yearsorwhentheremightbedoubtsregardingthesafetyorreliabilityoftheunit,an
additionalfunctioncheckistobecarriedout(inthisconnection,complywiththeapplicable
national and international regulations with regard to the maintenance intervals of rescue
equipment). Operating time per day In the Federal Republic of Germany, regular safety
inspections according to the regulations of the Gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung (GUV;
connoted‘Legalaccidentinsurance’)aremandatory.
