LUKAS products are developed and manufactured to ensure the best performance and
qualitywhenusedasintended.
Thesafetyoftheoperatoristhemostimportantconsiderationinproductdesign.Furthermore,
theoperatinginstructionsareintendedtohelpyouuseLUKASproductssafely.
Thegenerallyapplicablelegalandotherbindingregulationspertainingtothepreventionof
accidentsandprotectionoftheenvironmentapplyandaretobecompliedwithinadditionto
theoperatinginstructions.
The equipment may only be operated by persons with appropriate training in the safety
aspectsofsuchequipment,otherwise,thereisariskofinjury.
Wewouldliketopointouttoallusersthattheyshouldcarefullyreadtheoperatinginstructions
andtheinstructionstheycontainbeforetheyusetheequipmentandcarefullyfollowthem.

3. Intended use
StrongArm™e100/le100hasbeenespeciallydesignedasalightweightpersonaltoolwith
manyuses.Itcancut,spreadandliftmakingitversatilefromaRIT(RapidIntervention
Team)situation,technicalrescue,druginterdictiontoaSWATscenario.
TheStrongArm™toolwillliftdebris,cutthroughwires,cables,studsorbeusedasa
forcibleentrytooltopryopendoors,cutlocksandspreadorcutsecuritybars.
AlthoughtheStrongArm™toolisnotavehicleextricationtoolitcanbeusedtogain
accessthroughthehood,trunkordoorsinmostsituations.
Itiscross-functionalandpropertrainingisrequired.
StrongArm™e100/le100isNOTsuitableforuseunderwater.
Thegenerallyapplicable,legal and other binding national and international regulations
pertaining to the prevention of accidents and protection of the environment apply and
aretobeimplementedinadditiontotheinstructionmanual.

- thatworkingwiththedevicecouldtriggeranexplosion;e.g.sparksmayresult

4. Functional description
4.1 Description
ThecuttingandspreadingtoolStrongArm™e100/le100hasbeendesignedinsuchaway
that a hydraulically operated piston activates mechanical joints symmetrically to open or
closeasetoftwoopposingtoolarms,thusenablingobjectstobecutorspread.
Additionally,dooropenertooltipsespeciallydesignedforthatpurposecanbepositionedin
verynarrowgapsorcrackstospreadthemapart.
Foralldevices,themovementisactivatedbymeansofavalveintheformofastargrip.
Alldevicesemployadeadmanswitchandfullload-supportingfunctionwhenthestargripis
released.
TheStrongArm™e100/le100devicedoesnotneedtobeconnectedtoanexternalhydraulic
source(e.g.amotorpump).Generationoftherequiredhydraulicpressuretakesplacewithin
thebodyofthedevice.
Arechargeablebatteryservesasdriveandenergysource.
Theaccumulatorbatterycanbeinsertedintotheopeningprovidedinthebodyofthetool.
Itisthenautomaticallylockedintoposition.
Youcanextendtheoperatingtimeofyourdevicebyusingseveralbatteries.Thebatteries
canberechargedafteruse,usingtheexternalcharger.
AuniversalaccessoryrailismountedtothetopoftheStrongArm™toallowoptionalequip-
menttobemountedtothetool.Forexample,aashlightcanbemountedtofacilitework
beingdoneunderpoorlightingconditions.
Thereisanilluminatedringaroundtheswitchonthee100(blue)StrongArm™tooltoin-
dicatethetoolisonandreadyforoperation.Thele100(black)StrongArm™tooldoesnot
havethisfeatureinordertokeepvisibilitylow.
Anotherindicatorthateithertoolisreadyforoperationisthatthattheswitchisrecessed
whenitis“on”.Thisalsopreventsaccidentalactivation.

anditwillautomaticallyengagethenextlockingposition,thussecuringthehandleagain.

4.4 Operating movement controls
The piston movement is controlled by the star grip on the attached valve (see illustration
below).Thesymbolsshowtheturningdirectionforopeningandclosingthetooltips.

Commissioning
Before initial operation, the battery of the rescue device must be fully loaded, using the
externalcharger.
Procedure:
1. Fullypressbacktheredreleasebuttonand
pullthebatterycarefullyoutofthebattery
cradle.
Do not use force!
2. Thebatterycannowberechargedinthe
batterychargerandreplacedagain
(observealsotheseparateinstruction
manualforthebatterycharger).
3. Inserttherechargedornewbatteryinto
thecradlesothattheredreleasebutton
automaticallyengages.Thus,thebatteryis
lockedagain.

Ensure that the objects to be worked on are adequately stabilized/shored to ensure that
thereisnoriskofslidingorshifting.
Worldwide safety guidelines pertaining to the specic country must be observed and
compliedwith.

It is strictly prohibited to reach into the path of the
device (e.g. between the blades/spreader arms and the
material/object to which the force is to be applied)!

The strong eect of the force of the rescue equipment during operation could

Thosenotinvolvedintheemergencyoperationshouldthereforekeepatasafe
distance appropriate to the situation.Anytrappedorenclosedpersonsmust
beprotected.
Thefollowingaretobewornwhenworkingwiththerescueequipment:
- protectiveclothing,
- safetyhelmetwithvisororprotectivegoggles,
- protectivegloves
- safetyshoes
- and,ifnecessary,earprotection
- wearspecialprotectiveclothingincaseofextremely high temperatures
Beforeoperatingthedevice,youshouldensurethatnoparticipantsorbystandersareatrisk
fromthemovementsofthedeviceorfromyingfragments!Avoidunnecessarydamageto
propertybelongingtoothersortoobjectsnotinvolvedintherescueordamagecausedby
yingfragments.
6.2 Cutting

During cutting, the gap between the blade tips (in the transverse direction) must not be
exceeded,otherwisethebladeisindangerofbreaking:

Wherepossible,avoidcuttingthroughhigh-strengthpartsofthevehiclebody
(e.g. side impact protection). This may result in damage to the blades or to
increasedwearandtear!

Thedooropenertipsareespeciallydesignedforusingthemforforcedopeningoflocked
doors.
6.4.1 Points of application:
Doorswithsingleprotection:lockingfurnitureandhingeplates.
Doorswithmultipleprotection:lockingfurniture,hingeplates
andateachlockingbolt,ifrequired.
6.4.2 Procedure
Whenapplyingtheunit,theclawsmustbepressed
orbeatenintothedoorcrackashardanddeepas
possible(refertoapplicationexamples).
Whenworkinginanenvironmentwhichinvolvesthe
riskofexplosions,sparksmustbeavoidedwhenthe
clawsarepushedintothedoorgap!
