Installing the Speaker
• Remove the connector from the speaker and feed the cable
through the gland on the OCULi case, making sure to tighten
the gland so that the case remains water tight.
• The speaker connects to pins 3 & 4 ( the middle two pins ) of
the connector; polarity is not important.
• The connector then plugs into the back of the motherboard
9

• Only detections enable the Voice Challenge mode.
• The OCULi unit will listen for incoming phone calls for 2-3
minutes and answer them using the internal microphone and
external speaker.
• There is a Voice Challenge button on the Event panel in the
browser with the phone number linked to it.
• If the browser has a voice service associated with it ( such as
on a mobile phone or VoIP enabled PC ) you can call directly
from the browser, otherwise, the number will have to have been
stored in advance.
10
• To enable Voice Challenge, click the tick box option in the
UNITS section on the web portal. Do not select both Voice
Challenge and Stay-Online on the same unit.

The Oculi Web Portal
Events
This is where you can see the images captured by your OCULi units
after various triggered events. These events are colour coded and,
the key can be found to the right of the screen. This information
can also be found at the bottom of the Help tab. You can also see
which Site and Unit were triggered, as well as the Date and Time
of the Event. In the expanded view, you can both stop and start the
video footage, as well as download the images captured into a ZIP
file.
The brightness and contrast of the footage can be changed using
the sliders underneath the video. Clicking on the Clear Event tab
above the video will allow you to mark the event as read which will
stop it from flashing.
11

If you have enabled Voice Challenge and installed a Speaker to
your OCULi unit, a Voice Challenge button will appear to the top of
the Save as Images button when an OCULi unit registers a Detec-
tion event. This option lasts for 2-3 minutes whilst the unit listens for
a call. After this time has passed, the Voice Challenge option will
no longer be available.
Once an event has been cleared, you can delete the event by
clicking on the dropdown arrow to the right of the Event Actioned
box (where the Clear Event tab was) and selecting Delete Event.
12

Sites
Here you can assign units and users to specific sites, check the
data usage of pooled units, and set-up the arming schedule.
Only users that have been assigned to the site are able to make
changes to it. You can change the name of the site, as well
as assign it an address. There is also the option to add user
contact details. The data analysis for the site shows the number
of units assigned to it, the average data usage, the total pooled
allowance, and the projected usage.
Ticking Master Schedule will override the arming schedules of
individual OCULi units. You can choose to opt in to over-the-air
beta and release firmware updates, however, we recommend only
updating with release firmware.
A different arming schedule can be set for each day of the week,
but can also be copied from one day to another. For example,
to copy Sunday’s arming schedule to Monday, you would have
Sunday’s arming schedule open by selecting it from the dropdown
menu on the left, and have Monday selected from the right hand
dropdown menu. Clicking Copy will copy across the arming
schedule from Sunday to Monday.
The OCULi unit can be armed all day for every day of the week
by clicking the 24/7 button. Please be aware that having the unit
armed constantly will affect the battery life.
13

To set up a custom arming schedule, select an ‘on’ time using the
dropdown menus, and an ‘off’ time. Up to 3 on/off times can be
added per day. To create an arming schedule that arms the unit
only during regular non-working hours, you would set the unit to
be ‘on’ from 00:00 until 08:30, and then on again from 17:30 until
24:00. Please note that 24:00 indicates Midnight of the current
day.
Integrating with other monitoring platforms is simple. Select the
platform from the drop-down list and click integration. Clicking Info
shows which data should be added into which field.
You can assign different users to different sites by selecting them
from the list of operators and clicking Add Role to Site. Clicking
Settings will allow you to customize which site notifications are
sent to each user via the web portal and mobile app. These
notifications can also be sent via email.
Remember to click save to keep your changes.

Units
OCULi units will show here once you have linked your SIMs to your
account. Units will appear automatically once it has established
a connection to the server. You can change the unit name, see
its’ SIM number, Unit ID and firmware version, and assign it to a
specific site by selecting the target Site from the ‘Change Site To:’
drop-down menu.
Adjusting the video settings can be done for each unit individually
by using the sliders to adjust how many frames each video
captures, and how many frames per second it shoots at.
The PIR settings for the unit can be altered by changing the
power saving mode (which determines how often the unit can be
triggered), the and/or settings, pulse count, PIR sensitivity and day/
night threshold (which can be calibrated).
15

There are 7 power saving modes that allow for varying durations
of peace gaps before the unit can be triggered again. Options
that require longer peace gaps are ideal for busier locations or for
during working hours, and options that require shorter peace gaps
work best for quieter areas.
When the and/or setting is set to ‘and’, the PIR must register a
pulse in both IR beams before it triggers a detection, for example,
someone walking past the unit. When it is set to ‘or’ the PIR will
register a detection when only one IR beam registers a pulse, such
as a person lingering to the right or left side of the unit.Changing
the pulse count affects how many pulses the PIR has to register
in the IR beam before it triggers a detection. A lower pulse count
would trigger a detection for someone quickly passing by, whereas
a higher pulse count would only trigger if there was sustained
activity in front of the unit.
When Day/Night calibration is ticked, you will receive a mobile
notification when the unit thinks it’s night and day, allowing you to
adjust the threshold accordingly.
Voice Challenge can be enabled by ticking the checkbox in After
Detection Actions. Please note that Voice Challenge and Stay
Online cannot both be ticked on the same unit. If Voice Challenge
is enabled, the unit will remain active for 2-3 minutes after a
Detection event. During this time, a Voice Challenge button will
appear underneath the video footage captured. Clicking the
button will allow you to call the OCULi unit.
The Heartbeat determines the frequency at which the unit will
connect to the server to receive updates and can be adjusted in
the web portal. When TimeLine is ticked, it will take an image every
time it connects, and show the collection of images as a blue
heartbeat event.
16

When a heartbeat is missed, 5 email notifications are sent out to
the site users. A missed heartbeat can indicate a fault with the
server connection to the unit and it is recommended that the unit is
checked.
Individual units can have their own arming schedules. This can be
set up the same way as the SITES arming schedule, however, if the
Site has Master Schedule ticked, it will override the individual units’
schedule.
Graphs show statistics such as light levels, temperature and
voltage. These are useful for keeping track of the unit’s operation.
17

There are two dials to show battery and data usage.
This tool allows you to predict when you will need to change the
unit’s batteries, as well as how much data the unit is predicted to
use. When the batteries have been changed, click the ‘Tick When
Battery Changed’ box to reset the dial.
Remember to click save at the bottom of the page to keep your
changes.
18
