Device Installation
Step 1 – Unpack materials
• Remove all materials from shipping box and verify all components are available
Step 2 – Mount CG-100
• Physically mount device on to wall, panel or other appropriate location.
Step 3 – Connect MBUS devices to CG-100
•
Connect each MBUS device in the chain by “daisy-chaining” them together on a single bus. MBUS
devices should be laid out as per the block diagram below.
•
Many MBUS devices can be powered from the CG-100 Gateway. Follow the manufacturer’s
instructions for installing and powering the MBUS devices.
•
The CG-100 gateway does not require the user to set the MBUS primary address for each individual
device. Instead, secondary addresses are detected automatically when initial scan is initiated. This
process ensures that no two devices will ever have the same address.
Step 4 - Power-up and diagnostics
•
Ensure that the power supply provided with the CG-100 is connected. After power is applied, a white
Power light in the upper right of the GC-100 should come on (the boot sequence will require up to 30
seconds to complete).
•
If the “Power” light does not come on, verify that the power cord is plugged in. If after cycling the power
the unit still does not power up contact technical support. After the CG-100 has been powered up for a
minute, the green Alive LED should blink slowly once per second during normal operation.
•
POWER (White):
A Solid light means the system is powered correctly.
•
MBUS Transmit (Green):
Blinks when sending data across the MBUS
network
• MBUS Receive (Amber): Blinks when receiving data from the MBUS
network
•
Ethernet Link/Act (on RJ45 connector): Amber -
On when connected
to a hub or switch, off when not connected.
Green -
Blinks when Lan
traffic is being sent or received.

Getting Started
The CG-100 should now be available on the local area network for you to access using a web browser such as
Google Chrome or Firefox.
Step 1 - Use your web browser to connect to the CG-100 by entering http://ipaddress/. Where ‘ipaddress’ is the
IP address given to the CG-100 by your DHCP Server.
In order to see what the IP address of your device is, you may use various net discovery tools such as NMAP or
ARP, given the MAC address as noted on the nameplate on the side of the device.
Step 2 - When prompted, use the following default login information
Login: admin
Password: password

CG-100 Industrial Gateway
Page 8
You will be presented with the front page giving a basic overview of your connected devices and links to
available setting pages. You can also change your password on this screen and reboot the device from here in
the top menu. Please note: Rebooting the device takes approximately 30 seconds to complete its boot cycle.
By selecting Device Information, you can view the specific fields related to your specific device. In order to
update Hostname or IP configurations, click on General Settings.

The hostname can be customized to your network needs. The default name selected is CG100 followed by the
MAC Address of your specific gateway for easy identification. Currently this gateway ships with DHCP settings,
an updated version will provide static IP settings control.
By clicking on the Mbus Menu, you can setup your FTP settings (where you would like to receive your CSV
files). Multiple FTP sites can be defined by clicking the Add button. The device currently collects MBUS data
from all connected meters each hour and sends data to specified FTP sites once per day.

Page 10
After connecting your MBUS meters to the gateway, click “Run Scan Now”. This will perform a scan across the
MBUS network and add any meter connected to the device (up to 100 meters). Depending on the size and
scope of your network this scan could take up to 30 minutes. If Lynked meters are connected, this scan will only
take approximately 3 to 5 minutes. Attached meters will then show up in the status list on the right (which will
provide a quick view of your meter reads.)
In order to ensure that meters are connected and to get real-time readings, the diagnostics view will allow you to
poll your devices in real time and provide an online viewer to ensure no data corruption. Please note that these
values will not be stored in the hourly CSV recording files.

Page 11
Data Parsing allows you to customize the view of your data such that raw values are formatted for your needs
when diagnosing the raw meter reads.
The CSV viewer allows you to review any data stored on the gateway. Readings are added to the CSV’s hourly
and saved to this repository for review. Transmission of CSV files via FTP are nightly (Midnight UTC). Data will
remain on the gateway for up to 90 days before being purged.
