OPERATOR’S GUIDE
This guide describes the operation of the Personal Role Radio (PRR).
CONTROLS
Volume ON/OFF Switches on/off the radio and
adjusts the volume.
Channel Selector 1-15 position selector.
PTT (PRR) Press-To-Talk for the PRR.
Wireless PTT (PRR) Remote Press-To-Talk
for the PRR.
SETTING UP
1 Check PRR is switched off.
2 Connect headset.
3 Insert Batteries.
4 Check Channel Selector is correctly set.
5 Switch PRR on.
AFFILIATING TO THE WIRELESS PTT
1 Switch PRR OFF. Position Wireless PTT
as shown.
2 Switch PRR ON. Ascending tones heard.
3 Press and Hold Wireless PTT, until
ascending tones heard again.
4 Release PTT.
5 Descending tones heard if unsuccessful -
repeat steps 1 to 4.

DE-AFFILIATING FROM THE WIRELESS PTT
1 Switch PRR OFF. Position Wireless PTT as for affiliation.
2 Switch PRR ON. Ascending tones heard.
3 DO NOT PRESS WIRELESS PTT. Remove Wireless PTT and return 5 times in
succession within 5s of switching on radio until ascending tones heard again.
4 Descending tones heard if unsuccessful - repeat steps 1 to 3.
TONES
Power ON [Three short tones].
Power Off [Five medium tones].
Battery Low [Four alternating tones]
Wireless PTT Affiliation/De-affiliation taking place. Repeated if
successful. [Eight ascending tones].
Indicates failure of Wireless PTT Affiliation/De-affiliation.
[Eight descending tones]
Volume and Channel setting changes are confirmed by a single
bleep in the headset, one bleep per division/setting.
TO DISABLE TONES
To disable the tones switch off the radio then switch on again with the PTT switch pressed.
When tones have been disabled indications are recognised by interruptions in the received
audio or, in the absence of traffic, as interruptions in the background noise (hiss) in short
bursts equivalent in length to the related tones.
OPERATION
1 Check for channel activity by listening: no audio will be heard if the channel is clear.
Do not transmit if someone else is talking on the channel.
2 Press the PTT (PRR) and speak normally.
3 To receive messages, release the PTT (PRR).
WARNINGS & CAUTIONS
The PRR radio is an RF transmitter. Refer to separate Warnings and Cautions sheet.
