Welcome to the world of telecom solutions from Matrix and
thanks for purchasing a Matrix product.
We want you to get the maximum performance from our product.
If you run into technical difficulties, we are here to help. But
please consult this user’s guide first.
If you still can’t find the answer, gather all the information or
questions that apply to your problem and, with the product close
to you, call your dealer. Matrix dealers are trained and ready to
give you the support you need to get the most from your Matrix
product. In fact, most problems reported are minor and can be
easily solved over the phone.
In addition, technical consultation is available from Matrix
engineers every business day. We are always ready to give
advice on application requirements or specific information on
installation and operation of our products.
This user’s guide is designed to help the station user to use the
system features intelligently. Every feature is explained with
regard to its usage and application with relevant example.
This is a common user’s guide for the users of Cosine-64P and
Cosine-32P. The configuration of both the variants is tabulated
below:

Also note that, this also is a common user’s guide for all the
customers worldwide. Few feature access codes are region
dependent and hence the use of system is subject to the
settings (region selection) made in the system.
The feature access codes used in this user’s guide are
referenced to the default region code: Asia. The user is
requested to change the region code explicitly first and then use
the feature access codes depending on the region where the
system is installed. e.g. if the region code is selected as North
America, then the operator is accessed by dialing ‘0’. The
equivalent feature access codes for different regions are listed in
the relevant topics. The features are arranged alphabetically.
The Cosine users can be of two types:
1. SLT Users
2. DKP Users
This user’s guide is designed keeping in mind the SLT users.
The DKP users have the facility of using advanced features.
They are requested to use ‘Eon-45 User’s Guide’.
We hope this user’s guide assists you to use the system smartly.

Abbreviated Dialing
Personal Abbreviated Dialing
• You can store up to 10 numbers of your choice in personal
memory. The location codes for Personal Abbreviated Dialing
are 01-10.
How to program numbers in personal memory?
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 108-Location Code-Trunk
Access Code-Number-#*. Confirmation
tone
Replace the handset.
How to use it?
(For Asian/Australasian/European/African users)
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 8-Location Code. Number gets dialed.
Example:
To program telephone number 0265-2630555 at Location
Index 05 with trunk access code ’62’.
Dial 108-05-62-02652630555-#*.
Once this location IS programmed with the number, dial 805
to call the number.
(For North American/South American Users)
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 6-Location Code.Number gets dialed.

Example:
To program telephone number 265-2630555 at Location
Index 05 with trunk access code ‘82’.
Dial 108-05-82-02652630555-#*
Once this location is programmed with the number, dial 605
to call the number.
Global Abbreviated Dialing
• You can dial out numbers stored in the global memory of the
system using specific codes. The global memory is common
for all system users. The Location Code for Global
Abbreviated Dialing are 11-99.

Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 8-Location Code. Number gets dialed.
(For North American/South American Users)

Dial 6-Location Code.Number gets dialed.
Alarms
Duration Alarm
• You can ask the Cosine to remind you after some specific
time. On expiry of the set time, your station starts ringing. A
maximum of 8 duration alarms can be set simultaneously.

Single Alarm
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 161-Minutes. Confirmation tone
Replace the handset.
Multiple Alarms
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 161-Minutes. Confirmation tone

Example:
Dial 161-09 to set a reminder after 9 minutes (Single).
Dial 161-09 and 161-12 to set a reminder after 9 and 12
minutes (Multiple).
Time Alarm
• You can ask the Cosine to remind you at some specific time.
At the set time, your station starts ringing. A maximum of 8
time alarms can be set simultaneously. Time is in 24-hour
format i.e. 4:30PM is 1630 hrs.
Single Alarm
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 162-Hours-Minutes. Confirmation tone

Daily Alarm
• You can ask the Cosine to remind you daily at some specific
time. At the set time, your station starts ringing. A maximum
of 8 daily alarms can be set simultaneously. Time is in

Example:
Dial 163-1230 to set a daily reminder for lunch at 12:30PM
(Single).
Dial 163-1230 and 163-1530 to set a daily reminder for lunch
at 12:30PM and Tea break at 3:30PM (Multiple).
Date and Time Alarm
• You can ask the Cosine to remind you on a specific date at a
specific time. At the set date and time, your station starts
ringing. When you lift the handset, you get music or voice
message. A maximum of 8 date and time alarms can be set
simultaneously. Time is in 24-hour format i.e. 6:30PM is 1830
hrs. Date is from 01 to 31, Month is from 01 to 12 and year is
from 0000 to 9999.
Single Alarm
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 164-Date-Month-Year-
Hour-Minute. Confirmation tone
Replace the handset.
Multiple Alarms
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 164-Date-Month-Year-
Hour-Minute. Confirmation tone

Dial 164-01-04-2005-11-00 and 164-21-04-2005-23-00 to set
a date and time reminder on 1st April 2005 at 11:00AM and
21st April 2005 at 11:00PM.
Cancel Alarms
• You can ask the Cosine to cancel all the pending alarms.
Dialing 160 from the station will cancel all the alarms set on
that station.
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 160. Confirmation tone
Replace the handset.
Example:
To cancel the alarms set on station 26, dial 160 from station
26.
To cancel remote alarm set on station 26 from station 23, dial
165-26-0 from station 23.
Remote Alarm
• You can set alarm for some other station from your station. At
the set time, the station starts ringing.

To set a daily wake up alarm at 5:30AM on station 23 from

Cancel Remotely Alarms

3 Replace the handset.
Auto Call Back
Auto Call Back-On Busy
• You need not keep dialing busy station repeatedly. Instead
can request Auto Call Back by dialing ‘2’ when you get busy
tone. When the requested station becomes free it rings.
Simultaneously your station also starts ringing. 8 stations can
request for Auto Call Back-On Busy.
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial Number. Busy tone
Dial 2. Confirmation tone
Replace the handset.
Important Point:
If you don’t answer the Auto Call Back ring, it stops after 30
seconds and Auto Call Back request gets cleared. This timer
is called Auto Call Back Ring Timer and is programmable.
Auto Call Back-On No Reply
• You need not keep trying “no-reply” station repeatedly. You
can ask the Cosine to inform you whenever the requested
person returns to his desk. When the user lifts his handset
and goes On-hook you will get ring and the station will get
ring back tone. Once you answer the ring, speech is

established. Any number of stations can request for Auto Call
Back-On No Reply.

Cancel Auto Call Back
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 102. Confirmation tone
Replace handset.
Example:
Station 23 is busy. To enable Auto Call Back, dial 2. If you
have wrongly dialed 23 and disable Auto Call Back, dial 102
to cancel it.
Auto Redial
• You need not keep trying busy number repeatedly. You can
ask the Cosine to keep trying the number. The Cosine gives
you ring when the call goes through. The Cosine also allows
multiple Auto Redial. Eight different numbers can be set for
Auto Redial simultaneously.

Disconnect.
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 171.Confirmation tone
Replace handset.
Example:
Dialed number is busy. To use Auto Redial feature,
disconnect and dial 171.
Multiple Auto Redial
Repeat the above steps for ‘n’ times to set ‘n’Auto Redials.
Example:
• Dialed number 28010101 is busy. To set auto redial
Disconnect and dial 171.
• Dialed number 02228101011 is busy. To set second auto
redial, disconnect and dial 171.
• Dialed number 01126384589 is busy. To set third auto
redial, disconnect and dial 171.
Cancel Auto Redial
Lift the handset. Dial tone
Dial 170.Confirmation tone
Replace handset.

Example:
Dialed number was busy. Auto Redial was requested by
dialing 171. To cancel Auto Redial request, the station user
should dial 170.
Barge-In
• When your call is urgent and you cannot wait for the called
person to become free, you can land in his conversation after
intimating him.
• While landing, you get ring back tone and the called person
gets beeps for 10 seconds.
• During the beeps, the called person can dial ‘Flash’ to
answer your call.
• If the called party does not respond during these 10 seconds,
caller forcefully gets connected with the called person.

Dial 4.Ring back tone. The called
person gets beeps.
The system connects you to
the destination after 10
seconds. Start talking.
Replace handset on
completion of talk.
• The time for which the called person gets beeps is called
Barge-In Timer.

Call Follow Me
• After going to your co-worker’s desk if you desire to receive
your calls on his station, you can use this feature.
Lift the handset on your station. Dial tone
Dial 135-Station-User
Password.Confirmation tone
Example:
Your station number is 201. Your user password is 1212.
Right now you are at station 203. You want to divert all your
calls to station 203. Dial 135-201-1212 from station 203.
Cancel Call Follow Me
Lift the handset of
your station. Dial tone
Dial 130.Confirmation tone
• The default password has to be changed to use this feature.
Call Forward
Call Forward-All calls to another Station
• You can forward all the calls of your station to another station
where you might be temporarily shifted.

Call Forward-All calls to external number
• You can forward all the calls of your station to an outside
number (external number).

• You can forward all the calls of your station to another station
if you are busy when the call arrives.

24 when he is busy, he should dial 132-24.

calls within 30 seconds the calls should go to Station 24 (his
colleague), he should dial 133-24.

• You can forward all the calls of your station to any outside
number if you do not answer the call within a programmed
time.

number if he is busy or does not answer the call.
