The PLATINUM 600 IR has an optional fibre channel and
can therefore be integrated into a SAN. Furthermore, the
MPL 600 IR offers the optional connection of an external
tape drive. These additional features and high scalability up
to 6 Terabytes makes the PLATINUM 600 IR the first choice
for expanding companies.
A problem-free network integration means NAS systems
allow fast extension of partially required storage space –
without alteration to the existing client/server architecture.
Furthermore, NAS installations can be carried out smoothly
in heterogeneous operation system environments. Typical
applications are file and print services.

Product characteristics
Those wanting to optimise or extend their storage
resources efficiently and affordably will find the NAS
(Network Attached Storage) an attractive alternative. Fitted
with an Intel®Pentium®D processor, the Microsoft®
Windows®Storage Server 2003 Standard Edition operating
system, hard disks in the RAID network and a high-
performance network card, the MAXDATA PLATINUM NAS
server provides applications with an affordable high-speed
memory.
This technology allows mainly small and medium companies,
but also larger departments, to expand their storage
volume in a particularly uncomplicated way. Although the
NAS systems, as well as the Storage Area Network (SAN),
separate memory from each server, they are otherwise
directly connected to the existing local network as SAN
systems.
The MAXDATA PLATINUM 600 IR server is based on the
Microsoft®Windows®Storage Server 2003 and thus offers
a simple and flexible solution for all the requirements of a
modern storage structure.With the assistance of a browser,
both systems can be configured within a few minutes and
integrated into the network. The NAS solutions do not only
have to be used as a ‘central distributor’ in a network , they
can also be used as a stand-alone solution.

Microsoft®Windows®Storage Server 2003
Windows®Storage Server 2003 is a dedicated file and
print server based on the Windows Server™ 2003, which
was developed to enable optimum reliability, smooth
integration and high cost efficiency within storage networks.
Windows®Storage Server 2003 is integrated into existing
infrastructures and supports heterogeneous data services
as well as file security and replication of saved data.
Furthermore, the Windows®Storage Server 2003 presents
a singular and ideal solution for the consolidation of several
file servers.This reduces costs and enables directive-based
management of storage space resources.
As Windows®Storage Server 2003 is pre-configured to
the MAXDATA NAS solutions, it is ready for operation in
a matter of minutes. Furthermore, the web-based user
interface allows easy management. Windows®Storage
Server 2003 is integrated into existing infrastructures,
allowing companies full use of conventional network
environments and standard management software such
as Active Directory®. Solutions are available in sizes of a
few hundred Gigabytes to several Terabytes with the pre-
configured Windows®Storage Server 2003.
