Thetermsofthecontractare:
1.Iftheinstrumentcoveredbythiscontract
becomesdefective,Mclntoshwillprovideallparts,
materials,andlaborneededtoreturnthe
measuredperformanceoftheinstrumenttothe
originalperformancelimitsfreeofanycharge.The
servicecontractdoesnotcoveranyshippingcosts
toandfromtheauthorizedserviceagencyorthe
factory.
2.AnyMclntoshauthorizedserviceagencywill
repairallMclntoshinstrumentsatnormalservice
rates.Toreceivethefreeserviceundertheterms
oftheservicecontract,theservicecontractcer-

takentotheserviceagency.

continuestheworld-wideMclntoshreputationfor
technologicaladvancementasthereasonfora new
model.Everyaspectofperformanceisimproved:
focusingandtracking,decoding,errorcorrection,
digitalfiltering,digitaltoanalogconversion
(convertersarespeciallyselectedformatched
channeltochannellinearity.)
TheMCD7007usesa newintegralmassivecast
discdriveplatformwhosevariablereluctance
suspensionsystemisadjustedandtunedtoreduce
oreliminatebothhighandlowfrequency
resonances,andtheimpactofvibrationsandshock.
Thereisa lowmass,lowinertia,highcompliance
singlebeamlaserpen.Thelaserpenassembly
achievesexceptionalradialtrackabilitythrougha
sub-miniature,resonancedamped,preciselybalanced
rigidsystemdesign.
Thesingle-spotlaser- whichwasalready
recognizedforitsreadoutpurity- staysevenmore
preciselyontrackandinfocus,andthedigitalsignal
thatisreadoutisprocessedevenmoretruthfully.
Eveninthefaceofdisceccentricityandwarpandof
discdefectsordirtthatwouldinterruptplayinthe
majorityofplayers,thesoundoftheMclntosh
MCD7007CompactDiscplayersetssuperlative
standardsofpurity.
Thefocusandcollimatorlenses,thereceiverand
transmitterfacesemployflatglassreplicatechnology.
•Themotorizedfront-loadingtrayisa newanti-
jammingdesignprotectedfromdamagebyforced
closure.Ifforced,itwillclosedirectlytoplaythe

AlargeFIFOmemorycanadsorbanydatastream
fluctuationswithadaptiveerrorcorrectionswhich
canhandleburststo15audioframes.
ThesingleDACchip- specificallyselectedforhigh
performance- incorporatesseparate16-bitconverters
forleftandrightchannels.Thereisnomultiplexing,
nodelaytimebetweenchannels,andanextra4 dB
ofchannelseparation.
Bothhigh-precisionservosareintegratedtoa
higherdegreethanever,embodyingmanyfunctions
thathavetobeperformedwithdiscreetcomponents
inotherplayers.Forthesefunctions,thereisno
wear,nodeteriorationwithtimenosetting-up
adjustmenttogowrong.Thusa permanent
improvementinreadoutaccuracyisachieved.
EnhancedperformanceCrossInterleaveReed
SolomonCode(CIRC)providesmaximumerror
detectionandcorrection.Errorcorrectionhassoft
mutingreinforcedwithenhancederrorconcealment
ofupto8 uncorrectablesamples.
Volumecanbecontrolledfromeitherthehand
heldremoteorthefrontpanelbuttons.
WiththeMCD7007MclntoshCompactDiscPlayer
performancemovestoa newpinnacleofcutting
edgetechnologicalachievementandhighestquality

discs,evenwhentheplayerisbumpedorknocked,
themusicretainsitssurpassingpurity.Thefull

PLAYERLOCATION
TheMCD7007maybeinstalledina Mclntosh
cabinetorcustominstalledinfurnitureofyour
choice.Alwaysprovideadequateventilation.Never
placeitaboveheatgeneratingcomponentssuchas
highpoweredamplifiers.Provide1½inches(3cm)of
spaceabovetheplayertomaintainwitha coolingair
flow.Alwaysusethecompactdiscplayerhorizontal-
ly,outofdirectsunlightandawayfromotherheat
sources.
REMOVETHETRANSITSCREWS
Onthebottomoftheplayeraretwoscrewswhich
locktheplayermechanismtoprotectitduring
transportation.Removethesescrewsandkeepthem
ina safeplace.Iftheplayeristobetransported
thesescrewsmustbereplacedtopreventdamage.
CUSTOMINSTALLATION
ThePANLOCsystemofinstallingequipmentcon-
venientlyandsecurely,isa productofMclntosh
research.ThePANLOCbuttonsonthefrontpanel
willlocktheunitfirmlyinplacewhenturnedap-
proximatelyone-quarterturnclockwise.A one-
quartercounterclockwiseturnofthePANLOCbut-
tonsunlocksthechassisfromitsmounting,
Toinstalltheinstrumentina Mclntoshcabinet,
followtheinstructionsthatareenclosedwiththe
cabinet.Foranyothertypeofinstallationfollow
theseinstructions:
1.UnpackfromCarton
OpenthecartonandremovethePANLOCbrackets,
hardwarepackage,andmountingtemplate.Remove
theinstrumentfromitsplasticbagandplaceitup-
sidedownontheshippingpallet.Unscrewthefour
plasticfeetfromthebottomofthechassisand
unscrewandremovethetransitscrews.Whenthein-
strumentistransported,damagecanoccurunlessits
transitscrewsareinplace.Keepthetransitscrewsin
asafeplaceforuseshouldyoutransporttheunit.
cd.Thebrokenlinesthatrepresenttheoutlineof
therectangularcutoutalsorepresenttheoutside
dimensionsofthechassis.Makesuretheselines
clearshelves,partitions,oranyequipment.Withthe
templateinplace,firstmarkthesixA andB holes
andthefoursmallholesthatlocatethecornersof
thecutout.Then,jointhefourcornermarkingswith
pencillines,usingtheedgeofthetemplateasa
straightedge.
3.DrillHoles
Usea drillwitha 3/16inch(5mm)bitheldperpen-
diculartothepanelanddrillthesixA andB holes.
Then,usinga drillbitslightlylargerthanthetipof
yoursawblade,drilloneholeateachoftwodiago-
nallyoppositecorners.Theholesshouldbarely
touchtheinsideedgeofthepenciledoutline.Before
takingthenextstep,makesurethatthesixA andB
holeshavebeendrilled.
2.MarktheCabinetPanel
Tapethemountingtemplateinpositiononthe
cabinetpanelwheretheinstrumentistobeinstall-

Sawcarefullyontheinsideofthepenciledlines.
Firstmakethetwolongcutsandthenthetwoshort
cuts.Aftertherectangularopeninghasbeencutout,
usea filetosquarethecornersandsmoothanyir-
regularitiesinthecutedges.
5.InstalltheMountingStrips
Inthehardwarepackageyouwillfindtwomounting
strips,andtwosetsofmachinescrews.Forpanels
thatarelessthan1/2inch(12.7mm)thick,usethe
3/4inch(19.1mm)screws;forpanelsthataremore
than1/2inch(12.7mm)thick,usethe1-1/4inch(31.8
mm)screws.
Startingattheright-handsideofthepanel,inserta
screwoftheproperlengthintothecenterholein
thepanel,markedB onthetemplate.Onthebackof
thepanel,aligna mountingstripwiththeholesin
thepanelandtightenthescrewuntilthescrewhead
ispulledintothewood.

Repeatthisproceduretoattachthemountingstrip
tothe(eftsideofthepanel.
6.AttachthePANLOCBrackets
UsingtwoscrewsoftheproperlengthintheA holes
oneachside,attachthePANLOCbracketstothe
cabinetpanel;theshortflangeismountedagainst
thefront(face)ofthecabinetpanel.Thescrewspass
throughthePANLOCbracketflange,thecabinet
panel,andthenthroughthemountingstrips
previouslymounted.
7.InstalltheInstrument
GuidetheACpowercordthroughthepanelopening
tothebackofthecabinet;then,slidetheinstrument
intotheopeningcarefullysothattherailsonthe
bottomofeachsideofthechassisengagethetracks
onthemountingbrackets.Continuetoslidethein-
strumentintothecabinetuntilthefrontpanelis
flushwiththecabinetpanel.TurnthePANLOCbut-
tonsatthelowerleftandrightcornersoftheinstru-
mentpanelclockwisetolocktheunitfirmlyinthe
cabinet.TurnthePANLOCbuttonscounterclockwise
tounlocktheinstrument.Itcanthenslideoutward
topermittheremovaloftheinstrumentfromthe
cabinet.

ThebackpaneloftheMCD7007hasconnectors
labeledFIXEDOUTPUT,VARIABLEOUTPUT,
REMOTE,a portmarkedDIGITALOUTPUTandthe
ACpowercord.TheVARIABLEOUTPUTisadjusted
bythefrontpanelVOLUMEbuttonswhilethe
FIXEDOUTPUTisunaffectedbythesecontrols.
Useshieldedcablestoconnecttheoutputsignalto
apreamplifierorpoweramplifier.Tominimizethe
possibilityofhum,theshieldedcablesshouldbeof
parallelconstructionorlooselytwistedtogetherand
locatedawayfromthespeakerconnectingcables
andACpowercords.Becertaintousegoodquality
shieldedcablesforallinterconnections.Yourdealer
canadviseyouonthekindandlengthofcablesthat
willbestsuityourinstallation.

TheFIXEDOUTPUTjacksareusedtofeed
programtoa stereopreamplifierorother
equipmentwithitsownvolumecontrol.
B.VARIABLEOUTPUT
UsetheVARIABLEOUTPUTjackstoconnectto
apoweramplifierora taperecorderwhere
controlofthevolumeattheplayerisdesired.
Thereisnodifferenceinthesignalqualityat
eitherpairofoutputjacks.Bothpairsofoutput
jacksmaybeusedsimultaneously.
Connecttheaudiooutputoftheplayertothe
"CD","AUX",orotherhighlevelinputonthe
preamplifier.Donotconnecttothe"PHONO"
input.ConnecttheRightplayeroutputtothe
rightpreamplifierinputandtheLeftplayer
outputtotheleftpreamplifierinput.

TheREMOTEcontrolconnectorisdesignedfor
usewiththeMclntoshmulti-areainfraredremote
