AnapplicationforA THREEYEARSERVICECONTRACTisincludedwiththismanual.
Thetermsofthecontractare:
1.Iftheinstrumentcoveredbythiscontractbecomesdefective,Mclntoshwillprovideallparts,
materials,andlaborneededtoreturnthemeasuredperformanceoftheinstrumenttothe
originalperformancelimitsfreeofanycharge.Theservicecontractdoesnotcoverany
shippingcoststoandfromtheauthorizedserviceagencyorthefactory.
2.AnyMclntoshauthorizedserviceagencywillrepairallMclntoshinstrumentsatnormal
servicerates.Toreceivethefreeserviceunderthetermsoftheservicecontract,theser-
vicecontractcertificatemustaccompanytheinstrumentwhentakentotheserviceagency.
3.Alwayshaveservicedonebya Mclntoshauthorizedserviceagency.Iftheinstrumentis
modifiedordamagedasaresultofunauthorizedrepairtheservicecontractwillbecancell-
ed.Damagebyimproperuseormishandlingisnotcoveredbytheservicecontract.
4.Theservicecontractisissuedtoyouastheoriginalpurchaser.Toprotectyoufrom

1:YoucanoperatetheMCD7008asa singlediscplayer.
2:Youcanstoreuptosixdiscsinsidetheplayer,aswellasa seventhdiscusedinsingle
discmode.Thesediscscanbeplayedinany ofthefollowingways.
3:Playallthediscsfromstarttofinishautomaticallyintheorderthattheywereloaded
intotheplayer.
4;Playanyofthediscsbydirectselectionfromeitherthefrontpanelkeyboardorthekeyboard
ontheHR7008handheldremotecontroller.
5:Afterselectinga disc,any trackonthedisccanbeplayedbydirectaccessonthefront
panelkeyboardorhandheldremotecontroller.
6:SelectRandomPlaywheretheplayerwillselectdiscsandvarioustracksonthediscs
ina totallyrandomorder.Playbackwillcontinueuntilalltracksonalldiscsstoredintheplayer
havebeenplayed.Ifonlyonediscisintheplayer,eachtrackofthatdiscwillbeplayedin
randomorder.
7:Selectanynumberoftracksyouwishtohearinanysequence,onany orallofthediscs
storedintheplayer.Enterthisinformationintotheplayer'smemory.Theselectedtrackswill
thenplayintheorderselected.Aslongasthediscsareleftintheplayerthememoryisre-
tained,eveniftheplayeristurnedoff.
8:Reviewwhichtrackswereselectedandstoredinthememory,aswellasthetotaltime
ofthestoredtracks.
9:Selectrepeat,andtheplayerwillplaythrougheachdiscstoredintheplayerandwhen
finished,startplaybackagainfromdiscnumberoneandcontinueplaybackaslongasdesired.
10:Scanfunctioncausestheplayertoplayonly10secondsofthefirsttrackoneachdisc
torevealwhichdiscshavebeenloadedintotheplayer.
11:Playbacka 3 inchdiscwithoutneedforanadapter.(Singlediscmodeonly.)
INTRODUCTION
BeforeconnectingtheMCD7008,turnthetransportlockingscrewfromthe"LOCK"position
tothe"FREE"position.Thisscrewisreachedthroughanaccessholeonthebottompanelof
theplayer.Theplayerwillnotoperateuntilthelockingscrewisturnedtothe"FREE"position.
Forfuturetransportorshippingoftheplayer,removealldiscsandturntheunitoff.Then
setthetransportlockingscrewtothe"LOCK"position.

Slideopenthecoverofthebatterycompartment.InsertthetwosuppliedsizeAAbatteries
intothecompartment.Besuretoobservethecorrectpolarityofthebatteriesasindicated
inthebatterycompartment.
Whenthebatteriesarenearingexhaustion,theeffectiverangeoftheremotecontroller
decreases,andMAYevenfailtooperate.Inthiscase,replacebothbatterieswithfreshones.
NOTE:
-Donotusea mixtureofoldandnewbatteries.
-Makesurebothbatteriesareofthesametype.
-Topreventdamagecausedbypossiblebatteryleakage,removethebatteriesfromthe
remotecontrollerifitisnottobeusedforanextendedperiodoftime.
-Neverdismantlebatteriesordisposeoftheminfire,astheymayexplode.Disposeofbat-
teriesonlyinanapprovedmethodforpropersafety.

TheMCD7008canbeplaceduprightona tableorshelf,standingonitsfourplasticfeet.
Theplayeralsocanbecustominstalledina cabinetofyourchoice.Thepanelcutoutand
playerdimensionsareshowninthediagramsfoundonpage19ofthismanual.
Theplayerisheldinplacebytwoanglebracketsmountedtothebackpaneloftheplayer
chassis.Thebracketsattachtotheplayerwithtwo6/32x 3/8inchmachinescrews,andto
themountingshelfwithtwo6 x 1/2inchwoodscrews.
Alwaysprovideforadequateventilation.Neverplacetheplayerdirectlyabovea heat
generatingcomponentsuchasa highpoweredamplifier.Cooloperationinsuresa longer
operatinglifeforanyelectronicinstrument.Allowatleast1 1/2inches(3.8cm)abovetheplayer
sothatairflowisnotobstructed.Therecommendedminimumspacefora custominstallation
is181/2inches(47.2cm)wide,6 inches(15.2cm)highby171/2inches(44.5cm)deepin-
cludingconnectors.Allow1 inch(2.54cm)infrontofthemountingpanelforknobclearance.

ThesefunctionsarePLAY,NEXT(Track),BACK(Track),NEXT(Discs1 through6),BACK(Single
Disc)andSTOPNEXT(Track)andBACK(Track)canbeperformedafterplaybackhasstarted.
NEXT(Discs1 through6)andBACK(SingleDisc)canbeperformedwhentheplayerisinSTOPmode.
PresstheNEXTbutton andyouwillselectdiscnumber1.PressNEXTagainasdesired
toselectdiscs2 through6.PressBACKtoselectthediscintheSINGLEposition.
DATAIN
Thisconnectorjackallowsserialremotecontrolfromanaccessorycomponent.Anexam-
plewouldbetoconnecttothisjackfromtheDATAOUTjackona Mclntoshpreamplifier
orremotecontrolsystem,sotheHR7008RemoteControllerwilltransmittothepreamplifier.
ThismethodofoperationprovidesallthefunctionsoftheHR7008RemoteController,transmit-
tedtothepreamplifiersensor.ItisthennotnecessarytopointtheHR7008towardtheCD
playerforallnormalplayerfunctions.

P:FF(FastForward):Allowsa similarfastforwardmovementonthedisc.
Q:BACK:Movestheplayerbacktothebeginningoftheprevioustrack,orthebeginningof
thetrackbeingplayed.
R:NEXT:Movestheplayerforwardtothenexttrack.
S:STOP:Causestheplayertostopplayingandremainina standbymode.
T:PAUSE:Stopstheplaybackatthepointthebuttonispressed.Resumeplaybackbypushing
thePLAYbutton.
U:REPEAT:Causestheplayertoplayeachdiscstored,andwhenfinishedwillstartplayback
