Software Installation
Important
Before connecting the device, you will have to install the necessary software (driver and
application).
Attention!
When installing programs or drivers, important data may be overwritten or modified. To
ensure access to original files in the event of problems during installation, you are rec-
ommended to back up the contents of your hard drive.
Note
If your operating system accepts the installation of software/drivers only if cleared by
Microsoft, a dialog box will open up. That does not mean that the driver is faulty. It
merely points out a non-existing Microsoft signature. You can ignore the message. To

Connecting to the PC
In order to make recordings with the DVD Maker, you will have to install the software first. If
you have not done so yet, see Chapter “Software Installation” on page 11 and follow the
instructions.
For better guidance, the connections have been numbered on the previous page.
1. Connect the video output of your recording source to the DVD Maker. For this purpose,
you can either
- connect a composite signal to the yellow RCA plug (2) or
- an S-Video signal to the black S-Video socket (1).
2. Now connect the DVD Maker to your PC. Remove the protective cap (4) and insert the
USB plug in a vacant USB 2.0 port on your PC (which must be switched on). If the port is
not easily accessible, use the extension cable supplied. Make sure that the DVD Maker is
connected to the PC as directly as possible (i.e., not via a hub).
3. The device is now being automatically detected by your PC. Follow the instructions on the
screen.
4. Use the software supplied to record from your source. Detailed user instructions have
been supplied with the software in electronic form. To access them, simply start the re-
spective program.
