Preface
This manual is intended as a reference for dismantling MIS 5022 switch systems
in preparation of meeting the requirements of WEEE recycling. Intended
Audience
This manual is intended for technicians who dismantle the switch systems as a
reference for WEEE recyclers.
Mellanox Technologies emphasizes the importance of carefully following all
procedures described in this guide to prevent personal injury.

and electronic equipment must be disposed of.
Mellanox Technologies has worked closely with its suppliers to eliminate
hazardous materials from its Products. There are instances, however, where it has
not proven possible to completely eliminate all hazardous materials.
Consequently, all applicable products are labeled with a crossed out “wheelie” bin
symbol, indicating that special care must be applied to their disposal and / or
recycling.

1Dismantling Instructions
This guide provides detailed instructions for dismantling the Mellanox InfiniBand
switch systems. Follow the instructions in the order they are presented.
1.1 InfiniBand Switch Systems - General
The InfiniBand switch system complies with the RoHS directive under the
exemption known as RoHS-6.
The last digit of the product part number represents the RoHS type.
For example
MIS5022Q-1BRR—the last R = RoHS-6
InfiniBand switch system systems are comprised of:
Cover
Power Supply Unit (PSU)
Harnesses
Fan unit
Main Board
1.2 General Preparations
The InfiniBand switch system is assembled using Philips screws, and handles
with snap in latches for modules.
To disassemble the InfiniBand switch system you will need a small Philips
screwdriver.
The pictures displayed in the following pages provide visual guidance explaining
how to remove the modules from the mechanical base.

1. Unscrew the rear-side screws, and slide the cover to the back for opening it.
2. Slide the top to the rear and lift off.

1.4 Extracting the Power Supply Unit
The power Supply unit is located on the side of the switch unit next to the main
board.

1. Disconnect the 3 harness connectors from the main board, the inlet and the ground.

2. Disassemble the 4 screws & washers attaching the power supply to the mechanical
base.

1.5 Extracting the Fan Unit
The Fan unit is located in the rear of the system.

1. Disconnect the 3 harnesses from the fan unit to the board.

2. Disassemble the 2 screws attaching the Fan wall to the bottom of the mechanical
enclosure base.
3. Disassemble the 4 screws attaching the Fan wall to the rear of the mechanical base.

1.6 Extracting the Board
1. Disassemble the 5 screws and washers attaching the main board to the mechanical
base.
