conditions and your personal drivingstyle.

Notesabout attachments, add-on equip‐
ment, installations and conversions
Notesonbody/equipment mounting direc‐
tives
Both vehicle manufacturersand body manufac‐
turersmustalwaysensurethat theproducts they
manufacturecome intocirculation only in asafe
stateand do notpose anyriskstopeople. Other‐
wise, theremay be consequences under civil,
criminal or public law. All manufacturersare
responsible forthe products that they have man‐
ufactured. Manufacturersofattachments, add-on
equipment, installationsand conversions must
guarantee compliancewithDirective
2001/95/ECongeneral product safety.
Mercedes-Benz recommends thefollowing proce‐
durefor safetyreasons:
RDo notmakeany other changes to thevehi‐
cle.
Acceptance testsperformed by public test bodies
or officialapprovals do notrule out safetyrisks.

Conversions or changes to thevehicle can
prevent systems or components from func‐
tioningproperly and/or jeopardizethe vehi‐

If youintend to makechanges to your vehicle,
Mercedes-Benzstronglyrecommends that you
contact thedealer.Theywill giveyou all theinfor‐
mation youneed. Theremay be achargefor this
service.
If body manufacturersand dealersmakemodifi‐
cations that affect thefinalinspection of the
engine, vehicle or equipment, they mustaccept
sole responsibility forthe vehicle. This also
appliestomarking and documenting thevehicle
parts affected by thechanges that they make.
Youare responsible forensuring and providing
evidencethat thefollowing conditionsare met:
RThe vehicle complies withall relevant stand‐
ards and regulations that areaffected by the
modification.
RThe modified vehicle still meets thevehicle
safetystandards and emissionslaws and reg‐
ulations.
RThe modification does notimpair thesafetyof
thevehicle.
Mercedes-Benzisnot responsible forthe final
inspection, product liability or warrantyclaims
resulting from modification. This applies to the
following points:
RThe modified components or systems
RThe resultant violation of emissions laws and
regulations or vehicle safetystandards
RAll consequences resulting from themodified,
less safeorevenfaulty vehicle
Mercedes-Benzaccepts no responsibility as final
manufacturer or forthe resultant product liability.
Notesonthe radiator
Even seemingly minor changes to thevehicle,
suchasattaching aradiator grill in winter,are not
permitted. Do notcover theradiator.Donot use
anythermal mats, insect protection covers etc.
Otherwise, thevalues of thevehicle's diagnostic
system will be distorted. Some of these values
areprescribed by lawand mustbecorrect at all
times.
Notesonthe partition
Without apartition,vehicles that areregistered
as commercial vehicles (N1) do notfulfill
ISO 27956, which describes theequipment for
properly securing aload in deliveryvehicles. If
thevehicle is used to transport goods, retrofitting
thepartition is strongly recommended,asprop‐
erly securing theload in vehicles without aparti‐
tion will alwaysbeacomplexoperation.

These Operating Instructions describe all models,
as well as standardand optional equipmentof
your vehicle that wasavailable at thetime of
going to press. Country-specific differences are
possible.Notethat your vehicle maynot be
equipped withall functions described. This is also
thecase forsystems and functions relevant to
safety. Therefore, theequipment on your vehicle

foryour vehicle contains alistofall thesystems

Runleaded fuel forvehicles withacatalytic
converter maynot be available. Leadedfuel
can cause damagetothe catalytic converter.
Rthefuel mayhave aconsiderablylower
octane number.Unsuitable fuel can cause
engine damage.

If theunderbody paneling is damaged, flam‐
mable materials suchasleaves, grass or

twigs can collect betweenthe underbody and
theunderbody paneling. These materials may
igniteiftheycome intocontact with hotparts
of theexhaust system.

Diagnostics connection
The diagnostics connection is atechnical inter‐
face in thevehicle. It is used, forexample, within
thescope of repair and maintenanceworkorfor
reading out vehicle databyaspecialistworkshop.
Diagnostic devices should thereforeonlybecon‐
nected by aqualified specialistworkshop.

objectsinthe driver's footwell
Objectsinthe driver's footwell mayimpede
pedal travel or blockadepressed pedal.
This jeopardizes theoperating and road
safetyofthe vehicle.
#Stow all objectsinthe vehicle securely
so that they cannotget intothe driver's
footwell.
#Alwaysinstall thefloor mats securely
and as prescribed in order to ensure
that thereisalwayssufficient room for
thepedals.
#Do notuse loose floor mats and do not
place floor mats on topofone another.

Using devices at thediagnostics connection
drains thebattery.
#Checkthe charge levelofthe battery.
#If thecharge levelislow,charge thebat‐

The connection and useofanother device on the
diagnostics connection can have thefollowing
effects:

Moreover, connecting equipment to thediagnos‐
tics connection can lead to emissions monitoring
information being reset, forexample. This may
lead to thevehicle failing to meetthe require‐
ments of thenextemissions inspection during
themain inspection.
Notesonchanges to theengine output
Output increases can:

RLead to malfunctions.
RResult in consequential damage.

The operating safetyofthe engine is notguaran‐
teed in all situations.
Anytampering withthe engine management in
order to increase theengine output will lead to
theloss of theNew Vehicle Limited Warrantyand
other warrantyentitlements.
If yousell thevehicle, informthe buyer of any
alterations to thevehicle's engine output. This
mayconstituteapunishable offense under
nationallegislation.

Aqualified specialistworkshop has thenecessary
special skills, tools and qualificationstocorrectly
carry out anynecessaryworkonyour vehicle.
This particularly applies to safety-relevant works.

checks if it Mercedes-Benz has your registration
data.
