2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Loca n
When ng a posi on for your refrigerator, you should make sure the floor is flat and firm,
and the room is well ven lated with an average room temperature between 50°F (10°C) and
109.4°F (43°C). Avoid placing your unit near a heat source, e.g. stove, heater or radiator. Also
avoid direct sunlight as it may increase the electrical consump on. Extreme cold ambient
temperatures may also cause the unit not to perform properly. This unit is not designed for use in
a garage or outdoor installa Do not drape the unit with any covering.
When installing the unit, ensure that 8" (20cm) of free space is le at both sides, 6" (15cm) at the
rear and 8" (20cm) at the top of the unit. This will allow cold air to circulate around the
refrigerator and improve the efficiency of the cooling process. The door can be opened to the
right or the le , depending on what best suits the loca on. Please ensure there is adequate
space for the door to fully open.

1Unplug your refrigerator and remove all food from the door shelves.
2Remove the left cover plate and the right top hinge cover, then
unscrew and remove the right top hinge. Keep the screws to reuse.
3Lift the freezer door up and away from your refrigerator.

4Unscrew the three screws holding the center hinge, remove the hinge,
then lift the refrigerator door up and away from your refrigerator. Save
the screws to reuse.

5Unscrew the two screws holding the bottom hinge, then
remove the bottom hinge from the bottom right side of
the refrigerator.
6Unscrew the hinge pin from the right side of the bottom
hinge and move it to the left side, then secure the bottom
hinge to the bottom left side of the refrigerator, using the
screws you removed previously.

7Remove the plastic bushing from the top right of the
freezer and refrigerator doors.
8Remove the hole cap from the top left of refrigerator
door and insert it in the other side.
9Insert the plastic bushings into the
left sides of freezer and refrigerator

10 Remove the door block from the
bottom, right side of the door
and attach it to the other side.
11 Attach the left upper door self-locking
block and the left door-open stopper
to the left side of the freezer door.

12 Remove the right upper door self-locking block
and the right door-open stopper. Store in a safe
place in case you need to reverse the door
position again.
Remove the two hole caps from the left side,
where the center hinge will go, and insert
them into the other side.
Attach the refrigerator door on the bottom
hinge, then attach the center left hinge to the
left side of the refrigerator.

Attach the left center hinge
15 Put the freezer door onto the center left hinge,
then attach the top left hinge to the top of
refrigerator. Cover the hinge with the top left
hinge cover and cover the screw holes on the
right side of the top with the cover plate you
previously removed.
16 Remove the screw caps on the door handles,
then remove the four Allen-screws securing
the handles to the left side of the doors with
the Allen wrench. Remove the handles.
Attach the top left hinge
17 Remove the four Phillips-head screws from
the left side of the door.
18 Screw the four Phillips-head screws into the
holes on the right side of the door.
19 Attach the handles to the right sides of doors
with the Allen-head screws you just removed.
Tighten with the Allen wrench and replace
the screw caps.

2.4 Ice Maker Installation Instructions
The refrigerator is ready for ice maker installation, if you need ice maker,
Please select the type IM1800MD Midea Ice Maker Kit. Contact your retailer or call Midea warranty for more
information.
Supplies Required:
-1/4 inch copper supply line with shut off valve
-1/4 inch brass compression nut and ferrule
-Freezer shelf If your model does not have one, contact your dealer to order one.
The copper tubing and shut off valve are available in a kit from your local hardware or plumbing supply
store. Coil enough tubing at the back of the unit to allow movement for cleaning.
Unplug the refrigerator. To eliminate the danger of electric shock during installation,
you must unplugthe refrigerator from its electrical outlet.

Tools Required:

1 Disconnect the unit from the electrical supply.
2 Remove ice tray rack from freezer.
3 Move the freezer shelf to the next position.

Carefully Remove the plugs / label from inside the freezer
compartment using a putty knife.
6 Peel away the label covering the ice-maker installation
hole.
7 Using a pair of needle nose pliers, remove the foam from
the hole.
8 Insert the water inlet tube into the small hole on the back of
the refrigerator. Rotate the hose while inserting until the flat
surface of the hose is secure against the back of the
refrigerator.
Plug
In order to remove the plug, you need to squeeze the two ends
and pull the plug out, or need to use the tools such as a flat
screw driver or needle nose plier

10 Push the water supply hose into the water inlet hose as far
as it will go and tighten the Nylon compression nut onto the
water inlet hose until it is secure/tight.
Then tighten the nut until it is secure but DO NOT
overtighten using a wrench.
11 Install the leveling bracket to the bottom of the ice maker
assembly with the screw provided.
DO NOT TIGHTEN.
This bracket will be tightened later in this installation.
12 Start two (2) long ice maker mounting screws into the
freezer wall.
Turn each screw five turns clockwise.
13 With the ice maker in one hand, plug the wiring harness
connector into the connector mounted on the top freezer
panel.
Make sure the connection is tight and secure.
14 Mount the ice maker assembly on to the two (2) screws
installed in step # 11.
Tighten the screws.
Be sure that the water inlet tube is securely inside the fill
cup.
9 Slide the hose through the hole of the security bracket and
the foam insulation pad, with the pad facing the rear of the
refrigerator and affix the hose security bracket and foam
insulation pad in place using the two (2) screws provided.

16 Reinstall the freezer shelf below the ice maker assembly.
Set the ice container below the ice maker assembly.
The ice maker will be level when the gap between the freezer
wall and the ice maker assembly is the same at the top and
bottom.
Once completely level, tighten the leveling bracket screw.
** NOTE **
Clean the area of the back of the unit where you will be placing
the plastic clamp with household cleaner, ammonia or alcohol
to provide a clean surface for the adhesive to adhere to.
18 Install the mounting box on the connecting terminal
of the water valve and the wiring harness. After the
cover is closed, fix the box cover and the mounting
box firmly with screws.

Ensure the connection is secure.
15 Adjust the leveling bracket to ensure the ice maker
assembly is totally level.
17 Connect the wiring harness to the water valve as shown.
Secure the plastic water tubing to the rear of the
refrigerator cabinet with the two (2) plastic clamps
provided.

Push up the white plastic ring at the bottom of th
valve until it doesn't move, then insert the water
pipe into it and loosen the plastic ring.
19 Locate the factory punched holes at the lower right
panel on the rear of the refrigerator.

2.5 Door Space Requirements
The refrigerator door must be able to open fully as shown.
Make sure that the refrigerator can open at least this wide
and this deep – 50.8"W x 58.5"D.
2.6 Leveling the Unit
Adjust the two leveling feet at the front of the unit.
If the unit is not level, the door and magnec seal alignments
will not be covered properly.
2.7 Cleaning Before Use
Wipe the inside of the unit with a warm water and baking soda soluon (1 tablespoon of baking
soda to a quart of water). Then rinse with warm water using a sponge or cloth once you wring
the excess moisture out of it. Wash the shelves and vegetable bin in warm soapy water and dry
completely before placing it back in the refrigerator. Clean the exterior of the unit with a damp
cloth. If you require more informaon, refer to the cleaning secon.
2.8 Before Using Your Unit
Before placing any food in your refrigerator, turn it on and wait for 24 hours, to make sure it is
working properly and to allow it to completely cool down. Do not overfill your refrigerator.
Before Plugging In
You must check that you have a socket which is compable with the plug supplied
with the unit.
Before Turning On
Do not turn on unl two hours aer moving the unit. The coolant fluid needs me to
sele.
2.9 Interior Accessories
Various glass or plasc storage shelves are included with your appliance - different models have
different combinaons. Always slide one of the full-size glass storage shelves into the lowest set
of guides, above the fruit and vegetable drawers, and keep it in this posion. To do this, pull the
storage shelf forward unl it can be swiveled upward or downward and removed. Do the same in
reverse to insert the shelf at a different height.

In order to make the most of the volume of the fresh food storage compartment and
frozen-food storage compartment, the user can remove one or more shelves or drawers
from the appliance, according to your daily use.

4. OPERATION
The operator panel and display layout are referred to in the following figure:

4.3 Display
Once powered on, the display screen (including the key light) is on full display for 3s,
and then operates as the displayed middle se ng.
In case of a failure, the appropriate LED light will show in combina on with the failure code
(in recycling display). If there are no failures, the opera on posi on of the refrigerator will be
on normal opera on display.
4.4 Se ng
Each me the Set key A is pressed once, the se ng n changes one A er the se ng
has been completed, the refrigerator will operate according to the set value in 5 minutes.

4.6 The Standby Control
While the refrigerator is opera ng, press and hold the SET key for 3 seconds, and the
refrigerator will enter standby mode. The standby indicator will light up, and all
se ngs will stop working.
While the refrigerator is in standby, press the SET key, and the refrigerator will resume
normal opera on. In since the refrigerator is now opera ng normally, the standby
indicator will turn itself off.
4.7 Duct Panel Opera on
1. The se ngs are 3 on the refrigerator control
panel and MID on the freezer temperature control dial.
2. If the ambient temperature is less than 10 degrees,
the recommended refrigerator control panel se ng is 4
or 5 with the freezer temperature control dial at the
COLDER posi on.
3. If the ambient temperature is higher than 43 degrees,
the recommended refrigerator control panel se ng is 4
or 5 with the freezer temperature control dial at the MID to COLDER posi on.
TIP: Leaving the freezer temperature control dial on the COLD se ng will help keep food cold
in the freezer. However, leaving the control dial on the cold se ng for an extended period of
me may cause items in the refrigerator to freeze.
5. CLEANING
5.1 Defros g
Auto-defrost for a frost-free refrigerator.
5.2 Cleaning the Interior and the Exterior of the Unit
Remove all the shelves and the vegetable and fruit drawers. To remove the drawers, first
remove the lower door shelf.
Wipe the inside of the unit with a warm water and baking soda solu on and then rinse with
warm water using a sponge or cloth once you wring the excess moisture out of it. Wipe
completely dry before replacing the shelves and the vegetable and fruit drawers.
Use a damp cloth to clean the exterior, and then wipe with a kitchen appliance wax or a mild
liquid dish detergent. Dry and polish with a clean, cloth. Make sure that the door is
closed to avoid the kitchen wax ge ng on the magne c door seal or inside the unit.
The grill of the condenser at the back of the unit and the adjacent components can be
vacuumed using a brush achment. Before cleaning the condenser, turn the
temperature dial to 0. Then sweep or vacuum up the dust.

5.3 Cleaning Tips
Condensaon may appear on the outside of the unit. This may be due to a change in room
temperature. Wipe offany moisture residue. If the problem connues, please contact a qualified
technician for assistance.
6. MAINTENANCE
6.1 Changing the Internal Light
Light must be replaced by a professional.
6.2 Care When Handling / Moving Your Unit
Hold the unit around its sides or base when moving it. Under no circumstances should it be lied
by holding the edges of the top of the refrigerator.
6.3 Servicing
The unit should be serviced by an authorized technician and only genuine spare parts should be
used. Under no circumstances should you aempt to repair the unit yourself. Repairs carried out
by inexperienced persons may cause injury or serious malfuncon. Contact a qualified technician.
6.4 Switching Offfor Long Periods of Time
When the unit is not in use for a long period of me, disconnect it from the electrical outlet,
empty all food and clean the appliance, leaving the door ajar to prevent unpleasant smells.
7. TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
Save me and money. Review the chart first, and you may not need to call for service. But if you
cannot correct the problem, then call the aer-sale service department.
Problem Possible Causes
Refrigerator does not operate. The refrigerator is plugged in, but there is low voltage.
The fuse is blown or the circuit breaker is tripped.
Refrigerator has an odor. Foods transming odor to the refrigerator.
Motor operates for long
periods or cycles on and off
frequently.
For the refrigerator to operate for a longer period of me in the
summer when temperatures are higher.
Do not put too much food in the freezer at one me.
Do not put foods in the refrigerator unl they are cooled.
Frequent door openings.
Light does not come on.
The refrigerator is plugged in, but the light is not on.
The light may be damaged.

7.1 Summer Weather Tips
The refrigerator enclosure may emit heat during operaon, especially in the summer. This is
caused by the radiaon of the condenser. This is normal.
Moisture: Moisture can form on the cabinet surface between the doors and collect inside in
humid weather. This is not unusual. The moisture can be wiped away with a dry towel.
Buzz: A buzz can be generated by running the compressor, especially when starng up or
shung down.
8. ENERGY SAVING TIPS
Try not to open the door too oen, especially when the weather is humid. Once you open the
door, close it as soon as possible.
Every now and then check to see if the appliance is sufficiently venlated (adequate air
circulaon behind the appliance).
In normal temperature condions, please arrange the thermostat at the middle seng. Before
loading the appliance with packages of fresh food, make sure that the food is cooled to room
temperature.
Frost or ice crystals on frozen food increase energy consumpon, so clean the appliance as soon
as the layer is 0.3-0.5cm thick.
If it is the outer condenser, the rear wall should always be clean and free of dust or any
impuries.
Always consider instrucons stated in the Posioning and Energy Saving Tips secons, otherwise
the energy consumpon might be substanally higher.
The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat-
producing appliances or heang ducts and out of the direct sunlight.
Let hot foods cool to room temperature before placing them in the refrigerator.
Overloading the appliance forces the compressor to run longer. Foods that freeze too
slowly may lose quality or spoil.
Be sure to wrap foods properly, and wipe containers dry before placing them in the
appliance. This cuts down on frost buildup inside the appliance.

The vegetable and fruit drawers should not be lined with aluminum foil, wax paper or
paper towels. Liners interfere with cold air circulaon, making the refrigerator less
efficient.
Organize and label food to reduce door openings and extended searches. Remove as
many items as needed at one me, and close the door as soon as possible.
