The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a four-seat, single-engine, high-wing airplane and probably the most popular flight training
aircraft in the world. The first production models were developed in the mid-1950’s with the first aircraft delivered in
1956. Up-dated Cessna 172’s are still in production with more than 43,000 total built to date.
The Skyhawk delivers an excellent blend of characteristics including seating for 4 adults, a modest capacity for
additional luggage or equipment, a cruising speed of 140 knots, plus economic operation and ease of maintenance and
the airplane is easy to fly. The Skyhawk is the aircraft people most visualize when they hear the words “small plane”.

NOTE
The full-scale Cessna 172 is a delicately balanced machine relying on the weight of the
powerplant and distribution of passengers to maintain a proper center or gravity. When
on the ground, the weight of the engine keeps the aircraft on its nosewheel. This model
provides a detailed engine and removable upper cowling. If you choose to display the
engine, you will need to fashion a tail support rod from fine wire or stretched clear sprue.
Simply drill a small hole in the rear fuselage underside, insert the support, adjust
the support to hold the model with the nosewheel touching, and apply glue.

Your Minicraft model includes high-quality waterslide decals. These decals adhere best
to a glossy surface; and it is recommended that you apply a clear gloss coat over your
painted model.
Use a sharp scissors or knife to cut individual decals from the carrier sheet. Do not cut
into the clear film surrounding the individual decals.
* It is recommended that you apply one decal at a time.
* Place the decal section in warm water, when first inserted in the water your decal will
curl, after approximately ten seconds the decal will uncurl. Remove from water and lay
on a paper towel. After approximately 10 - 20 seconds the decal will slide freely from the
backing paper. Use a small brush to help slide the decal from the backing paper and into
position on the model. Carefully blot excess water from the decal, using care not to move
the decal or tear it.
* If you choose to use a setting solution, apply a thin coat over the decal following the
manufacturer’s instruction.
* Allow the decal to dry overnight. Wash any adhesive residue off the model with a small
amount of clean water and dry thoroughly.
* Apply clear gloss, matte or flat coat to seal decals following the instructions from the
manufacturer.
