Precautions and notices
• Neverattempttodisassemble,repairormakeanymodicationstoyourrecorder.
Disassembly,modicationoranyattemptatrepaircouldcausedamagetothe
recorderandwillvoidanywarranty.
• Ifyouseeorsmellsmokefromtherecorder,stoppingchargingimmediately.
• Keeptherecorderawayfromthechemicalsubstancesordetergents.Theycould
becorrosiveandcausedamagetothesurfaceoftherecorder.
• Donotsubjectyourrecordertosevereshock,orinsertanyobjectotherthan
memorycardintotheslot.
• Makesurethatnoobjectisblockingthecameralensandnoreectivematerial
appearsnearthelens.Pleasekeepthelensclean.
• Alwaysusethesuppliedmountingequipmentwiththerecorder.Whenmounting
onamotorbikeorbicycle,makesurethatyouplacetherecorderinan
appropriateplace,soasnottoobstructyourview.
• AMicroSDcard(notincluded)isrequiredforvideorecordings.
• Foryourownsafety,donotoperatethecontrolsoftherecorderwhileridinga
motorbikeorbicycle.
• Itisnormalforthequalityofvideotobemomentarilyaffectedastherecorder
movesfromverydarktoverybrightconditions.
• Whentakingtherecorderoutofthewater,makesurethedeviceiscompletely
dried-upandallforeignobjectsareremovedbeforeopeningtheprotectioncap.
• Asthebatterylifemaybeaffectedbyextremecoldtemperatures,youare
advisedtoturnonthedeviceinawarmplacebeforeuseandtokeepthedevice
connectedtopowerwheninuse.

• Avoidsprayonthedevicewhiletheprotectioncapislooseorremoved;
otherwise,itmaycausedamagetothedevice.

Inserting a memory card
⚠Do not apply pressure to the centre of the memory card.
⚠Do not insert or remove the memory card when the device is turned on.
Youhavetoinsertamemorycardbeforeyoucanstartrecording.
1. Opentheprotectioncap.
2. Holdthecard(MicroSD)bytheedgesandgentlyinsertitintotheslotasshown
intheillustration.
3. Toremoveacard,gentlypushthetopedgeofthecardinwardstoreleaseit,and
pullitoutoftheslot.
LBefore you start recording, please format the MicroSD card to avoid malfunction caused by les not created by
MiVue M500.
LMiTAC does not guarantee the product's compatibility with MicroSD cards from all manufacturers.

Charging the battery
Whenchargingthebatteryforthersttime,youshouldfullychargethebattery.
ConnectyourMiVuetothecomputeroranotherpowersourceforcharging.
1. Opentheprotectioncap.
2. ConnecttheMicro-USBendoftheUSBcabletoyourrecorder.Thensecurethe
captightly.
3. ConnecttheotherendoftheUSBcabletoapoweredcomputeroranother
powersource.

Setting the date and time
Toensuretheaccuracyofrecordeddateandtime,makesuretosetthedateand
timebeforerecording.
1. MakesurethattheMicroSDcardisinserted.
2. Opentheprotectioncap.
3. Turnonyourcomputerandtherecorder.Connecttherecordertoyourcomputer.
4. Therecorderwillberecognisedasanexternalstoragedevice.Openthe"time.
txt"lefromtherootdirectoryoftheMicroSDcard.
5. Enterthecorrectdateandtime.
• Date:YYYY-MM-DD
• Time:hh:mm:ss(24hourformat)
6. Changethesettingvalueof[UPDATE:]from[N]to[Y]tosavethechanges.
Otherwise,yourchangeswillnotbesaved.
7. Closethe"time.txt"le.
8. Forthechangestotakeeffect,restarttherecorderwiththeMicroSDcard
inserted.
⚠New changes will not take effect if the MicroSD card is removed before restarting your MiVue.
LThe settings in the "setting.txt" le are for professional users only. If you are not familiar with the settings, do not
try to change them; otherwise, it may cause damage to the recorder.

Using the mount
UsethesuppliedmounttosecureyourMiVueonamotorbikeorhelmet.

Turning the recorder ON and OFF
• ToturnonyourMiVue,pressandholdthepowerbutton,orconnect(or
reconnect)theUSBcableforcharging.
• Toenterthestandbymode,brieypressthepowerbutton.(Therecording
indicatorwillstillglowinthestandbymode.)
BrieypressthepowerbuttonagaintoresumeyourMiVue.
• ToturnoffyourMiVue,pressandholdthepowerbuttonfor8seconds.(The
recordingindicatorwillturnoff.)

Continuous recording
⚠Keep the MicroSD card inserted in the recorder while recording.
Afterbeingturnedon,yourMiVuestartsthecontinuousrecordingautomatically
shortly.Therecordingindicatorashinginredindicatesthatrecordingisinprogress.
LThe recording will be divided into several video clips (about 1 minute for each clip by default); recording will not
stop between clips.
LIn the continuous mode, if your memory card is full, the recording continues and the earliest clips will be
overwritten by the new ones.
Tostoptherecording,pressthepowerbuttonbriey.YourMiVuewillenterthe
standbymodeandtherecordingindicatorwillstopashing.Pressingthepower
buttonbrieyagainresumesthecontinuousrecording.

AsystemprolelewillbegeneratedautomaticallyontheMicroSDcardafterthe
rstrecording.Youcansettheadvancedfeaturesusingthe"setting.txt"le.

try to change them; otherwise, it may cause damage to the recorder.
LightFrequency Setsthefrequencytomatchtheickerfrequencyofthelocalpower
supplywhenrecording.
TimeStamp Showsorhidesthedateinformationintherecordings.
CycleRecord Enablesordisablesthecontinuousrecordingfeature.
MicVolume Setsifyouwanttoincludesoundsintherecordings.
RecordingTime Setsthedurationofeachvideoclipforacontinuousrecording.
Bitrate Setsthequalityofthevideole.
BatteryLevel Displaystheremainingbatterypower.

MiVueManager™isatoolforyoutoviewthevideosrecordedonaMiVuerecorder.
LYour computer needs MOV and AVI codecs to play the recording les. Please visit www.mio.com/support to
install the required codecs.
LNot all features are available for every model.
Installing MiVue Manager
DownloadMiVueManagerfromtheSupportpageofMiowebsite(www.mio.com/
support)andfollowtheon-screenpromptstoinstallit.Makesuretodownloadthe
correctsoftwareversion(WindowsorMac)accordingtoyourcomputer'soperating
system.
Playing the recording les
1. Removethememorycardfromtherecorderandaccessthecardonthe
computerviaacardreader.
LYou are advised to copy the recording les to your computer for backup and playback.
2. StartMiVueManageronthecomputer.
3. Bydefault,MiVueManagershowsthecalendarandthelelistontheright.Click
ontheupper-leftcornertoselectthefolderthatstorestherecordingles.
• Whenarecordingleexists,youwillseethedatemarkedwith"●."Clickthat
datetodisplaythelesthatwererecordedonthatdate.
• Youcanchoosetheletypetodisplay:Normal(continuousrecordings).
LYour MiVue model does not support "Event" or "Parking."
• Todisplayalllesinthecurrentfolder,clickAll.Toreturntothecalendar
view,clickCalendar.

4. Double-clickthedesiredleonthelelisttostartplayback.Theplayback
controlsaredescribedasfollows:

❶Skipstotheprevious/nextleonthelist.
❷Startsorresumestheplayback.
❸Changestheplaybackspeedto1/4x,1/2x,1x(default),1.5x,or2x.
❹Mutesorunmutesthevolume.
❺Adjuststhevolumelevel.
❻Playsthevideoinfullscreen.
❼Displaystheplaybackprogress.Youcanclickonapointalongthe
trackbartomovedirectlytoadifferentlocationfortheplayback.
5. Duringplayback,youcancheckmoredrivinginformationfromthedashboard
panelandtheGsensorchartthataredisplayedbelowthevideoplayback
screen.
• Onthedashboardpanel,click todisplaythemapscreen.
• Gsensorchartdisplaysdatain3-axiswaveformaboutthecar'sshiftforward/
backward(X),totheright/left(Y)andupward/downward(Z).
LThe Map screen may not display when the computer is not connected to the Internet or when your Mivue
model does not support the GPS function.
LYour MiVue model may not support the G sensor function.
6. Thetoolbarallowsyoutodothefollowing:

❸Savestheselectedlestothespeciedlocationonyourcomputer.

❺OpenstheSettingsMenutoaccessthefollowingitems:Change
Language, Change Skin, Check for Update(requiringInternet
access)andAbout.
❻ExportstheGPSinformationoftheselectedleintheKMLformat
tothespeciedlocationonyourcomputer.
❼UploadstheselectedletoFacebook/YouTube™.

Takinggoodcareofyourdevicewillensuretrouble-freeoperationandreducethe
