After installation work has been completed, explain the “Safety Precautions,” use,
and maintenance of the unit to the customer according to the information in the
Operation Manual and perform the test run to ensure normal operation. Both the
Installation Manual and Operation Manual must be given to the user for keeping.
These manuals must be passed on to subsequent users.

• Theunitmustnotbeinstalledbytheuser.Askadealeroranauthorized
techniciantoinstalltheunit.Iftheunitisinstalledincorrectly,waterleak-
age,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Forinstallationwork,followtheinstructionsintheInstallationManualand
usetools and pipecomponents specically madeforuse with R410A re-
frigerant.TheR410ArefrigerantintheHFCsystemispressurized1.6times
thepressureofusualrefrigerants.Ifpipe components notdesignedfor
R410Arefrigerantareusedandtheunitisnotinstalledcorrectly,thepipes
mayburstandcausedamageorinjuries.Inaddition,waterleakage,electric
shock,orremayresult.
• Theunit must be installedaccordingto the instructionsinorderto mini-
mizetheriskofdamagefromearthquakes,typhoons,orstrongwinds.An
incorrectlyinstalledunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• The unit must be securely installed on a structure that can sustain its
weight.Iftheunitismountedonanunstablestructure,itmayfalldownand
causedamageorinjuries.
• Iftheairconditionerisinstalledinasmallroom,measuresmustbetaken
topreventtherefrigerantconcentrationintheroomfromexceedingthe
safetylimitintheeventofrefrigerantleakage.Consultadealerregarding
theappropriatemeasurestopreventtheallowableconcentrationfrombe-
ingexceeded.Shouldtherefrigerantleakandcausetheconcentrationlimit
tobeexceeded,hazardsduetolackofoxygenintheroommayresult.
• Ventilatetheroomifrefrigerantleaksduringoperation.Ifrefrigerantcomes
intocontactwithaame,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
• Allelectricworkmustbeperformedbyaqualiedtechnicianaccordingto
localregulationsandtheinstructionsgiveninthismanual.Theunitsmust
bepowered by dedicatedpower lines andthe correct voltageand circuit
breakersmustbeused.Powerlineswithinsufcientcapacityorincorrect
electricalworkmayresultinelectricshockorre.
• Use C1220 copper phosphorus, for copper and copper alloy seamless
pipes,toconnecttherefrigerantpipes.Ifthepipesarenotconnectedcor-
rectly,theunitwillnotbeproperlygroundedandelectricshockmayresult.
• Use only speciedcables forwiring. Theconnections mustbemade se-
curelywithouttensionontheterminals.Ifthecablesareconnectedorin-
stalledincorrectly,overheatingorremayresult.
• Theterminalblockcoverpaneloftheoutdoorunitmustbermlyattached.
Ifthecoverpanelismountedincorrectlyanddustandmoistureenterthe
unit,electricshockorremayresult.
• Wheninstallingormovingtheairconditioner,useonlythespeciedrefrig-
erant(R410A)tochargetherefrigerantlines.Donotmixitwithanyother
refrigerantanddonotallowairtoremaininthelines.Airenclosedinthe
linescancausepressurepeaksresultinginaruptureandotherhazards.
• Use only accessories authorized by Mitsubishi Electric and ask a dealer
oran authorizedtechnicianto installthem.If accessoriesare incorrectly
installed,waterleakage,electricshock,orremayresult.
• Donotalterthe unit.Consultadealerforrepairs.If alterationsorrepairs
arenotperformedcorrectly,waterleakage,electricshock,orremayre-
sult.
• Theuser shouldneverattempt torepairtheunit ortransferit toanother
location.If the unitisinstalled incorrectly, water leakage,electricshock,
orremayresult.Iftheairconditionermustberepairedormoved,aska
dealeroranauthorizedtechnician.
• Afterinstallationhasbeencompleted,checkforrefrigerantleaks.Ifrefrig-
erantleaksintotheroomandcomesintocontactwiththeameofaheater
orportablecookingrange,poisonousgaseswillbereleased.
1.1.Beforeinstallation
Caution:
• Do not use the unit in an unusual environment. If the air conditioner is
installedinareasexposedtosteam,volatileoil(includingmachineoil),or
sulfuricgas,areas exposed to highsaltcontentsuchas the seaside, or
areaswheretheunitwillbecoveredbysnow,theperformancecanbesig-
nicantlyreducedandtheinternalpartscanbedamaged.
• Do not install the unit where combustible gases may leak, be produced,
ow,oraccumulate.Ifcombustiblegas accumulates around the unit, re
orexplosionmayresult.
• Theoutdoor unitproducescondensationduringthe heatingoperation.
Makesuretoprovidedrainagearoundtheoutdoorunitifsuchcondensa-
tionislikelytocausedamage.
• Wheninstallingtheunitina hospitalor communicationsoffice, be pre-
paredfornoiseandelectronic interference. Inverters,homeappliances,
high-frequencymedicalequipment,and radiocommunicationsequipment
cancause the air conditionertomalfunction or breakdown. Theaircon-
ditionermay also affectmedical equipment, disturbingmedical care, and
communicationsequipment,harmingthescreendisplayquality.
1.2.Beforeinstallation(relocation)
Caution:
• Beextremelycarefulwhentransportingthe units.Twoormorepersons
areneeded to handlethe unit, asit weighs 20kg or more.Donot grasp
thepackagingbands. Wearprotectiveglovestoremovetheunitfromthe
packagingandtomoveit,asyoucaninjureyourhandsonthensorother
parts.
• Besuretosafelydisposeofthepackagingmaterials.Packagingmaterials,
suchasnailsand othermetalorwoodenpartsmaycausestabs orother
injuries.
• Thebaseandattachmentsoftheoutdoorunitmustbeperiodicallychecked
forlooseness,cracksorotherdamage.Ifsuchdefectsareleftuncorrected,
theunitmayfalldownandcausedamageorinjuries.
• Donotcleantheairconditionerunitwithwater.Electricshockmayresult.
• Tightenallare nutstospecication usingatorquewrench. Iftightened
toomuch,thearenutcanbreakafteranextendedperiodandrefrigerant
canleakout.
