The ultimatein video recording technology,the UBB-4.CQMobile DVRsystemprovidesaround-
the-clockvideo surveillancerecording foryourvehicle.Theserecordingsmaybe used in court
toshowproofofanyeventthattookplacesuchas:accidents,theft,vandalism orcarjacking.It
isavehicle "blackbox"DVRsystemthatcan supportup tofourdifferentcamerasfor
simultaneousrecordingaround the vehicle.The systemuses(3)separatetriggerinputs
(Ignition,Securityand Reverse)toinitiatethe recording ofall fourcamerasand will storethe
recordingsonto(3)individual fileson aremovable SDcard.The recordingscan be reviewed on-
sitethrough an LCD monitororthe SDcardcan be removed and viewed on acomputer.

PR PRE-INSTALLATIONCONSIDERATIONS:
BEFOREBEGINNING,checkall vehicle manufacturercautionsand warningsregarding
electrical service(AIRBAGS,ABS BRAKES,ENGINE/BODYCOMPUTERAND BATTERY).
PLANOUTYOUR INSTALLATION.You should pre-determine the location ofthe DVRModule
(Brain),Microphone,IRSensor,Camera(s)and LCD monitor.Thiswill savetimeand easethe
installation process.Pleasemakesurethatwhen you aredetermining the mounting location of
the DVRmodule thatyou takeintoaccountthatyou will need toretrievethe SDcardatsome
point. Besuretomountthismodule in alocation thatwill makeiteasyforyou todo so.
USE VOLT/OHMMETER totestand locateall connections.During thisinstallation,you will be
testing forignition power,domelighttriggers,reverselights,etc.TestLightsorLighted Probes
could possiblydamage avehicle’scomputersystemorcausean airbag todeploy.
ADDITIONALPARTS,suchasadditional relays,wireconnectorsand zip tiesarenotincluded
withthisunit, and willbe needed foryourinstallation.
CAMERA(S) AND LCD MONITORS arenotincluded withthiskitand will need tobe purchased
separately.AnySecurView™camerasand monitorswill be compatible withyourUBB-4CQ
DVRsystem.However,you mayalsouseanyaftermarketcameraand monitorthatusea
standardRCAvideo connection. ALWAYSBENCH TEST all camerasand monitorsbefore
actuallyinstalling themintothe vehicle.

DONOTROUTEANYWIRINGTHATMAYBECOMEENTANGLED withthe brake/gaspedals,
steering column,oranyothermoving partsin the vehicle.If you areplanningon installing the
DVRmodule underone ofthe seats,pleasemakesuretoleaveslackon all wiresand cablesso
thatwhen the seatismoved backand forward,the cablesarenotoutstretched orbroken.Also,
be suretostayclearofanyairbag oroccupantsensorsand connectorsunderthe seats.
WHENINSTALLINGTHECAMERAS,BESURE todouble checkbehind the mounting
locationstomakesurethatyou will notbe drilling intoanywireharnessesorotherOEM
equipment. Ifyou areinstalling the interiorcamerason the headliner,be suretodouble check
forclearanceunderneaththe headlinersoyou willnotdrill through the outerrooforthrough any
wireharnesses,modulesorairventsin the ceiling ofthe vehicle.
DONOT routeanyvideo cablesorharnessesin frontofanycurtain airbagsorknee airbagsin
the vehicle.Doing somaycausethe airbagstofail in caseofan accidentcausing injurytothe
driverand passengers.
DONOT install the LCD monitorin alocation thatwill obstructthe driver’sview.

1. Carefullychoosealocation tomountthe UBB-4.CQmain module. Keep in mind thatyou will
notonlyhavemanydifferentcablesand harnessesconnecting tothismodule butyou will
alsoneed tobe able toretrievethe SDcardeasilytoviewthe recordingsorchange outthe
SDcard.
2. Therearemanydifferentlocationstomountthe module.The primarychoiceisofcourse
underthe dashboardbutyou can alsomountthe module underthe passengerseatoreven
behind the glovebox. (SEE FIGURE3)
NOTE: If you areinstalling the module underthe dashboardorbehind the glovebox,make
suretokeep all cablesclearofmoving partssuchasthe steering column,pedalsorvents.If
installing underthe passengerseat, pleasemakesuretoleaveslack on all cablestoaccount
forthe seatmoving back and forward.Alsomakesuretostayclearofanyairbag and
occupantsensorsunderthe seat.
3. Ifinstalling on acar,you can sometimesmountthe module underneaththe reardeckinside
the trunkifthereisnotenough spaceanywhereelsein the car. (See FIGURE4) Ifyou are
installing in thetrunk,pleasemakesurethatthe microphone and IRSensorcableshave
adequatelengthtoreachup tothe frontofthe vehicle.

NOTE: Onsomeoldermodel cars,thismounting location will notbe applicable becausethe
trunklidtension rodsgo acrossthe bottomofthe deckand will notleaveenough spaceto
mount. SomevehiclesmayalsohaveotherOEMequipmentinstalled inthisspacesuchasa
navigation system,subwooferorfactoryamplifier.
Again,pleasemakesuretomountthe module inalocation whereyou can easilyretrievethe SD
cardfromthe system.

INSTALLING THEMICROPHONE:
1. The UBB-4.CQsystemcomesincluded withasmall wired microphone thatplugsintothe
unitand can be mounted inside the vehicle foraudio recording when the unitisactivated.
2. You’ll wanttoinstall the microphone in alocation whereitwill pickup anynoisesall around
the interiorofthe vehicle.Itdoesnotneed tonecessarilybe mounted in the centerofthe
headlinerbutthe higherup,the better.The bestlocationsarethe driver’sside A-Pillaror
custommounted intothe centerroofconsole. (See FIGURE5) Intheselocations,the
microphone should be able topickup anynoisesinside the vehicle when the systemis
recording.
3. The microphone comeswithasmall clip thatyou can usetolooselysurfacemountittoa
panel orawireharness.Ifyou aregoing tousethismethod,the bestplacetomountitwould
be eitheron the top ofthe A-Pillar.Ifyou havearearviewmirrorthathasmap lightsorany
electronicfunctions,then you can mostlikelyclip the microphone tothe mirror’swireharness
coming fromthe headliner.
NOTE: You can removethe clipbysliding itsideways off ofthe microphone.Thiswill allow
you tocustommountthe microphone intoapanel ifyou choosetodo so.

INSTALLINGTHEIRSENSOR:
1. The UBB-4.CQincludesasmall wired IRsensorhasplugsintothe module and ismounted
in alocation wherethe system’sremotecontrol can transmitline-of-sighttoit. Thissensoris
responsible forallowing the remotecontrol tocommunicatewiththe module and allowyou to
navigatethrough the systems menusand settings.Itisveryimportanttoplacethissensorin
alocation thatisoutofthe waybutcan easilybe seen bythe remotesIntrared eye.
2. Mountthe IRsensoreitheron the dashboardorup bythe rearviewmirrorsothatyou can
easilypointthe remoteatittooperatethe systemand access themenusand settings. (See
FIGURE6) The sensorhasdouble-side tape tomountittothe surface.
NOTE: If you do notinstall the IRsensor,the remotewill notcommunicatewiththe module
and you willnotbe able toaccess the system’smenusorchange anysettingsofthe DVR
system. The IRSensoralsohasagreen LEDtoindicatewhetherthe systemison oroff.

INSTALLINGTHELCDMONITOR:
1. The UBB-4.CQusesastandardRCAvideo outputforconnection toamonitorforon-sight
playbackofthe recordingsand toviewthe systemmenus.AnySecurView™monitororany
aftermarketuniversal,rearviewmirrororin-dashstylemonitorsthatuseastandardRCA
video inputwill be compatible withthisDVRsystem. (See FIGURE6)

2. Thereareseveral differenttypesofmonitorsthatcan be used withthissystem.You can use
anyrearviewmirror,universal orin-dashstyle monitorsaslong astheyhaveastandard
RCAvideo input (See FIGURE7)
3. You will need torefertothe installation instructionsofthe monitortofind outhowtoinstall
themin the vehicle butmostofthe monitorsareverysimple toinstall and will requireminimal
installationtime.Mostmonitorswill haveatleastone video inputtoconnecttothe UBB-
4.CQsystemand will requireyou toconnectpowertoa+12Vignition sourcesothatthe
monitorwill comeon when the keyison atall times.
UNIVERSAL REARVIEWMIRROR IN-DASH
NOTE: TheLCD monitoris NOTINCLUDED withthe UBB-4.CQsystemand will havetobe
purchased separately.If you aregoing tousethe UBB-4.CQsystemwithan OEMin-dash
monitorthan somespecial interfacepartswillberequired tointegratethe OEMequipmentwith
the aftermarketRCAvideo plugs.
If you do notinstall amonitorwiththe UBB-4.CQsystem,then you will notbe able toaccessthe
systemmenusand change anyofthe settings.You will alsonotbe able toviewthe recordings
onsiteand you will havetoremovethe SDcardand connectitintoaPCorApplecomputerto
viewthe recordings.It isstronglyrecommended thatyou install and connectan LCD monitor
withthisDVRsystem.

1. The UBB-4.CQhasfourcamerainputsand can simultaneouslyrecordfromall forcameras
when the systemisactivated.The system’sfourinputsareforaFrontcamera(VIDEO1),
ReverseCamera(Video 4),SecurityorDomeLightCamera(Video 3)and alsoaVideo 2
inputfora4thgeneral purposecamera.The systemwill automaticallydetectwhen acamera
isplugged intothe specified inputand will startsimultaneouslyrecording on all cameras
when the systemisactivated eitherbythe Ignition,ReverseorSecurity(DomeLight)
triggers.
2. The forwardand reversecameraswillmounton the frontand the rearofthe vehicle like
normal camerainstallations.You can useanySecurView™cameraoranyaftermarketstyle
camerathatusesastandardRCAvideo output. (See FIGURE9)

3. TheforwardcameraRCAconnectstotheVIDEO1porton the UBB-4.CQand theReverse
cameraRCAplugsconnectstothe VIDEO4porton the UBB-4.CQ.
4. Forthe interiorcamera,you will mostlikelywanttouseacamerathatissmallerand less
noticeable.The SecurView™SV-007,SV-6828 orSV-6922.LM.II camerasareperfect
solutionssincetheyareall small buthigh-resolution cameras.However,anycamerawithan
RCAvideo outputconnection will workjustfine.
5. Mountingthe interiorcamerahigherup on the headlinerisusuallythe bestplace.The
interiorcameraconnectsintothe VIDEO3porton the UBB-4.CQsystem.The VIDEO2port
can be used asan extravideo sourceforanotherfrontcamera,soyou can placethe camera
whereveryou wanton the interiororexteriorofthe vehicle.Inthiscase,weshowitbeing
used on the interiorofthe vehicle. (See FIGURE10)

Selectmodel SecurView™cameraswillalsohaveaprogrammable parking line feature.Thisis
veryuseful when using acamerainthe frontorrearofthe vehicle.The parking linesare
distanceguidesprogrammed intothe camerasensorthatwill displaywhen the cameraison
and help the driveraccuratelyjudge the distanceon the frontofrearofthe vehicle depending on
wherethe cameraismounted.

The UBB-4.CQsystemcan be setupbyusing the hand-held remotecontroland IRsensorthat
isincluded withthe system.The remotewill communicatewiththe systemthrough the IR
sensor.You can navigatethrough all ofthe systemmenusand change anyofthe settingsusing
the differentbuttonson the remote.The remotewill alsoallowyou toeasilyswitchthe system
backand forthbetween Recording Mode and PlaybackMode.

indicatethatthe positiveside ofthe batteryfacesthatdirection.Pushthe batterytrayback into
the remoteuntil you hereitclickand lockintoplace.

OPERATION
RECORD &PLAYBACKMODES:
The UBB-4.CQsystemwill automaticallybegin recording when the ignition isturned on orthe
doorisopened.Ifthe ignition ison,the LCDmonitorwill activateand displaythe “Recording
Mode”screen.You can stop the Recording Mode and enter“PlaybackMode”atanytimeby
pressing the green REC/PB button on the remote.Ifyou wishtoexitPlaybackMode and
resumerecording,press the REC/PB button again onthe remote.
RECORDINGMODE:
When Recording Mode isactivated,the systemwill
automaticallydetecthowmanycamerasareplugged in and displaythemaccordinglyon the
LCD monitor.(Pleasesee the SCREENSTRUCTUREsection ofthismanual on page 42).All
cameraswill be activated bythe ignition circuitorthe doortriggercircuit. The reversecamera
(VIDEO4)circuitisthe onlycamerathatwill displaybyitselfwhen the vehicle isshifted into
reverse.Oncethe vehicle isshifted backintodrive,the restofthe cameraswill be displayed
again on the LCD monitor.All recordingsarestored on the system’sSDcardwiththe Timeand
Datestampand can be viewed atanytimebypressing the REC/PB button on the remote.
When the systemisactivated,itwill
automaticallyenterRecording Mode and
displayall camerason the LCD monitor.A
cameraicon will appearin the upperleft
cornerofthe screen totell you the systemis
recording.The recording interval timewill
alsobe displayed in red in the upperright
cornerofthe screen asitcountsup.The
Timeand Datewill be displayed in the lower
rightcornerofthe screen and will be saved
on eachrecorded file.Recording mode will
continue until the systemispowered down
(Ignition off ordoorclosed)orbypressing
the green REC/PB button on theremote.
InRecording Mode,you can zoomin and out
on the recordingsbypressing the ▼
buttonson the remote.Asmall distance
meterwill appearon the rightside ofthe
screen and the image will begin tozoomin
and out. The zooming effectwill alsobe
saved tothe recording and stored on the SD
cardsowhen you arereviewing the
recordings,you will be able tosee the
zooming effect.
NOTE: The zooming effectwill be resetonce
the systemispowered down(Ignition off or
doorcircuitopened and closed)
