Straddle tread belt by standing on straddle covers
Attach red magnetic safety key lanyard to clothing via clip.
Connect red magnetic safety key to upper console.
Begin a manual workout by pressing START.
Treadmill belt will start moving at 0.1 mph.
Press+or–toadjustspeedoftreadmillbelt.

HeartRateControlMonitoring:
HeartRateControlMonitoring:
YourHeartrateisagoodmeasureofyourbody’sexercisestresslevel.Itreflectsdifferencesin
yourphysicalcondition,howtiredyouare,thecomfortoftheworkoutenvironment,even
youdietandemotionalstate.Usingheartratetocontrolworkloadtakestheguessworkoutof
yourworkoutsettings.
Consultyourphysicianbeforeusingheartratecontrolledworkoutsforadviceonselectinga
targetheartraterange.Also,itisimportanttousethetreadmillforseveralworkoutsinthe
manualmodewhilemonitoringyourheartrate
Compareyourheartratewithhowyoufeeltoensureyoursafetyandcomfort.

ChestStrapHeartRateMonitoring:
Althoughthistreadmillfunctionsfinewithoutusingtheheartratemonitoringfeature,this
kindofmonitoringgivesyouvaluablefeedbackonyoureffortlevel.Cheststrapmonitoring
alsoallowsyoutouseHeartRateControl,themostadvancedexercisecontrolsystem
available.
Whenyouwearacompatibletransmitterstrap,thetreadmillwilldisplayyourheartrateasa
digitalbeats‐per‐minute(bpm)readout.Thetransmitterstrapshouldbeworndirectlyagainst
yourskin,aboutoneinchbelowthepectoralmuscles/breastline(seepicture).Women
shouldbecarefultoplacethetransmitterbelowtheirbraline.Somemoistureisnecessary
betweenthestrapandyourskin.Sweatfromyourexerciseworksbest,butordinarytapwater
maybeusedpriortoyourworkoutifdesired
NOTE:ThecheststrapproducesaFMsignalthatthetreadmillreadsandregisters
yourheartrate.Theaccuracyofareadingmaybeaffectedwhenoutsideinterference
ispresent.
ContactHeartRate(CHR):
TheCHRsystemletsyoumonitoryourheartratewithoutwearingastrap.Gentlygraspthe
CHRpads.
Duringthistime,thesystemisanalyzingandlockinginyourheartrate
Withinabout15seconds,yourdigitalheartrateinbeatsperminute(bpm)shouldbe
displayed
NOTE:CHRmonitoringmaybelessaccuratethancheststrap,sincetheheart rate
signalsaremuchstrongeratthechest.
NOTE:TheCHRSystemshouldonlybeusedatspeedsof4mphorlower.Abovethis
speedCHRaccuracyisunreliableduetolargemusclemovements.Exercisewithsmooth
bodymotions.Breathesmoothlyandregularly,andavoidtalking.(Talkingwillcause
unrepresentativeheartratespikeof5‐10bpm.Gripthepadslightly,nottightly.Make
sureyourhandsareclean,freeofdirtandhandlotions.WhenusingtheHRCworkout,it
isbesttousecheststrapmonitoring.Heartratebasedworkoutsworkbestwiththeextra
accuracygainedfromthecheststrapheartratemonitoringsystem.

Warmup:
AtthebeginningofanHRCworkout,thetreadmillisinfullManualControlmode.Graduallyincreaseyour
workleveltoslowlyraiseyourheartratetowithin10beatsperminute(bpm)ofyourtargetheartrate.
Thetreadmillwilloperateasifinmanualmodeduringthewarmupstage.Youcontrolbothspeedand

incline.Youmayonlyincreasespeedandgradetothepresentmaximumvaluesentered.Itisimportant
thatyoustartatalowlevelofperceivedexertionandgraduallyincreaseyourworkloadoverseveral
minutesuntilyouapproachyourtargetheartrate.Thisallowsyourbodytoadapttoyourworkout.
Increasingworkloadgraduallywillallowyoutoentertheheartratecontrolstagewithoutovershooting
yourtarget,keepingyourheartratewithinafewbpmofyourtarget.
NOTE:Warminguptoofastmaycauseyoutoovershootyourtarget.Ifthisoccursit
maytakeseveralminutesbeforethecomputersoftwarecancontrolyourheartrate.
Youmayovershootandundershootforseveralminutesuntilcontrolisachieved.
AtHeartRateControl(HRC)stage:
TheHeartRateControl(HRC)workoutallowsthetreadmilltomonitoryourrelativeexerciseintensityby
wayofyourheartrate.Thetreadmillautomaticallyadjuststheworkloadoftheworkouttokeepyouat
yourtargetheartrateandthusyourdesiredexerciseintensity.Attheheartratecontrolstagethe
treadmilltakescontrolofspeedandincline,keepingyourheartratewithinafewbpmofyourtarget.
HRC–CruiseControl
Whileinanyworkout,setyourcurrentheartrateasyourtargetheartratebypressingtheHRCCRUIS
CONTROLkey
DuringanyPre‐SetProgram,attheendofyourworkouttimeordistance,thetreadmillreducesworkload
byhalfandgoesbackintoManualControlModewhereyoudirectlycontrolyourcooldown
