INTRODUCTION
Monmouth Scientific Clean Air Module (CAM) is a self contained filtration unit
designed to fit into a wall to provide HEPA filtered clean air.
The module requires a 230vac 3A electrical supply supplied via a domestic 13A
socket outlet.

INSTALLATION AND SETUP
The module is freestanding and therefore requires no special mounting for it’s
operation. It should be positioned to allow unobstructed airflow into the prefilter.
SET UP FAN SPEED
This requires the use of a calibrated Ø100mm rotating vane anemometer with
readings taken from 150mm from filter face.
Turn the system on and set the fan speed using the speed control knob. Set to the
required level using the anemometer to measure the air velocity from the HEPA filter.
The air volume required to achieve N air changes per hour can be calculated by the
following formula:
Air volume required (m³/hour) = Room Volume (m³) X N
The air volume through the module can be calculated by the following formula:
CAM1500F : Air Volume (m³/hour) = 0.595 (filter area in m²) X measured HEPA
velocity (m/sec.) x 3600 (secs/hr)
Based on the filter size used in this module (850mm x 700mm), the following table
gives an indication of air volume (m³/hour) against HEPA velocity:

Please note:
This unit is capable of p ocessing ai volume is excess of 1500m³/h but it
should be noted that the filte will be potentially st essed beyond it’s design
limits, filte life will be g eatly educed and noise levels will inc ease
substantially.
It is the efo e advised that the unit is not ope ated beyond 0.7m/sec
(1500m³/h ).

MAINTENANCE
CHANGING PRE-FILTERS
Regular checks should be carried out to ensure the airflow performance is
maintained. Should the module fail to achieve adequate performance, this normally
indicates that the Pre-Filter/s and / or HEPA filter require changing.
(For replacement filter part numbers, see below)
1. Turn the system off and disconnect from mains.
2. Remove the thumb screws securing the pre-filter retaining frame.
3. Remove the pre-filter frame and filter.
4. Replace pre-filter with the correct type (see page 5).
5. Replace the thumb screws securing the pre-filter retaining frame.
6. Reconnect the mains supply and switch on.
7. Check the airflow and ad ust if necessary (as detailed in the setup section)
CHANGING HEPA FILTER
1. Turn the system off and disconnect from mains.
2. Remove the screws securing the filter retaining frame.
3. Remove the filter frame and HEPA filter.
4. Replace HEPA filter with the correct type (see page 5).
5. Replace cover filter and filter frame using the 8 screws.
6. Reconnect the mains supply and switch on.
7. Check the airflow and ad ust if necessary (as detailed in the setup section)
8. DOP test filter integrity.

SERVICING
An annual service is recommended to maintain optimum operating conditions and will
include the following points:
• Check / replace pre-filter
• DOP test the main HEPA filter if required
• Particle count check if required
• Check airflow monitor and re-calibrate if necessary
• Check and record air velocity readings
• Check general condition of system.
• Issue test report and airflow certificate.
