SAFETY WARNINGS AND GUIDELINES
Please read this entire manual before using this device, paying extra attention to these
safety warnings and guidelines. Please keep this manual in a safe place for future
reference.
This device is intended for indoor use only.
Do not expose this device to water or moisture of any kind. Do not place drinks or
other containers with moisture on or near the device. If moisture does get in or on
the device, immediately unplug it from the power source.
Do not expose this device to excessively high temperatures. Do not place it in,
on, or near heat sources, such as a fireplace, stove, radiator, etc. Do not leave it
in direct sunlight.
Unplug this device from the power source when not in use.
Prior to operation, check the unit and power cord for physical damage. Do not
use if physical damage has occurred.
Use only the AC adapter included with this device. If the AC adapter is lost or
damaged, use only an exact replacement.
Clean only using a soft, dry cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners, solvents, or
detergents. For stubborn deposits, moisten the cloth with warm water.
This device has no user serviceable parts. Do not attempt to open, service, or
modify this device.

INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing this SDI to DVI Video Converter from Monoprice!
This converter allows you to view your SDI source material on a digital DVI-D video
display. It also supports both digital optical (Toslink) and digital coaxial audio outputs
and features an SDI output connection, so that multiple units can be cascaded.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
1. SDI Video Input: Use an SDI cable (not included) to connect to an SDI video
source.
2. SDI Video Output: Use an SDI cable (not included) to connect to an SDI
display or other SDI device.
3. DC Power Jack: Plug the DC connector on the included AC adapter into this
jack.
4. Power Indicator: This LED indicator glows red when power is applied to the
converter.
5. Toslink Audio Output Jack: Use a digital optical (Toslink) cable (not included)
to connect to the digital optical input of an amplifier/AV receiver.
6. Coax Audio Output Jack: Use a digital coaxial RCA (not included) cable to
connect to the digital coaxial input of an amplifier/AV receiver.
7. DVI Video Output: Use a DVI-D cable (not included) to connect a DVI-D video
display.
SDI CABLES
SDI cables are constructed using RG-6 or RG-59 75-ohm coaxial cable, terminated with
BNC connectors on each end.

INSTALLATION
Perform the following steps to connect the converter to a DVI video source, an analog
audio source, and one or more SDI output devices.
1. Ensure that all devices you will be connecting are powered OFF.
2. Plug one end of a DVI-D cable (not included) into the video input of your DVI
display.
3. Plug the other end of the DVI-D cable into the DVI output port (7) on the
converter.
4. Plug one end of a digital coaxial audio cable (not included) into the digital coaxial
audio input jack on your amplifier/AV receiver. Alternatively, plug one end of a
digital optical (Toslink) audio cable (not included) into the digital optical (Toslink)
audio input on your amplifier/AV receiver. Note that you need to use only one of
the two audio options.
5. Plug the other end of the digital coaxial audio cable into the Coax jack (6) on the
converter. Alternatively, plug the other end of the digital optical (Toslink) audio
cable into the Toslink jack on the converter. Again, you need to use only one of
the two audio options.
6. (Optional) Plug one end of an SDI cable (not included) into the SDI input jack on
an SDI display or other device.
7. (Optional) Plug the other end of the SDI cable into the SDI Out jack (2) on the
converter.
8. Plug one end of an SDI cable (not included) into the SDI In jack (1) on the
converter.
9. Plug the other end of the SDI cable into the SDI video output of your SDI video
source device.
10.Plug the DC connector on the AC adapter into the DC Power Jack (3) on the
video converter.
11.Plug the AC adapter into a nearby power outlet.
12.Power on your display(s) or other device(s).
13.Power on your SDI video source device and start playback of your audio/video
source.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Q1: The converter is connected, but there is no video on the connected display.
A1: Double-check all connections. Try using different video cables. Ensure that the AC
adapter is plugged into the converter and into an AC power source. Verify that you
are using a DVI-D cable.
Q2: The SDI output has video, but no audio can be heard.
A2: Double-check the audio connections. Verify that your source material contains
audio. Try using different audio cables. Ensure that you are using a digital coaxial
audio input on your amp and not an ordinary analog audio input.
