POWER SUPPLY
The controller is powered using a 24V external power supply through banana plugs U6, U7.
CONFIGURATION TAB
In the Configuration tab, the USB Instance dropdown list is used to select the desired host if you have
many controllers connected to your PC. The Module Index indicates the module of the selected USB
instance that needs to be configured.
1. The Configuration tab is used to configure the power spots for all modules at once or for each
module alone. It depends if the user wants to set the same configuration for all modules or set a
different configuration for each module. If the Apply for all modules checkbox in the Connection
window is checked the same configuration will be set for all modules, and if it’s unchecked, the user
chooses which module he wants to configure from Module index list in the Connection window.
2. The user can toggle the buttons that are on the module to turn ON/OFF the corresponding power
spot:
a. The power spot is RED when it is ON.
b. The power spot is GRAY when it is OFF.
The power spots values are represented by different shapes:

= 1.21 W

= 2.01 W
The textboxes values are always updated each time the user clicks a power spot to show the
accumulated power values. Each textbox corresponds to a region in the module. The maximum
power that can be set for each region is shown in the figure below:
3. Also, the user can enter the desired power for a specific region in the corresponding textbox and
click Enter; the closest value to a valid power will be set and the corresponding toggle buttons will
illuminate.
MONITORING TAB
This tab displays the temperature values, the voltage sense, the controller VCC and current sense of all
the modules and each of their spots.

Mod Volt sense: Measured voltage sense of the module.
Controller current sense: Measured current sense on the controller.
MPD: Measured power dissipation (Mod Volt sense * Controller current sense).
Controller VCC: Measured voltage on the controller.
Temperature: The temperature values can be logged for each module. The Interval indicates the time
spent between consecutive temperature measurements. And the Total duration indicates the total time
of logging temperature values.
After the logging is done, you can view the graph that shows the temperature, voltage and power in
function of time, cf. figure below.
Note that the logging can be done for all modules at the same time and saved to a file, cf. figure below.

From this tab you can read and write specific registers from the selected page in the memory map.

EEPROM TAB
This tab allows user to Load or Save his custom MSA configuration.
Refresh Page button: Read MSA Registers, and refresh values.
Write MSA to HW button: Write the current MSA configuration to QSFP module.
Save MSA to file button: saves the current MSA memory to a file using Comma separated values
(CSV) format.
Load MSA from file button: Loads MSA values from file and map it to MSA memory.
