self-contained MINI-MON providesstereoloudspeakers,currentlimited
Headphoneamplifier,PeakProgrammeMeters,PeakoverloadLEDs,stereophase
verificationandaudiopresence confirmation,togetherwithtouch-latchselection
between4analogueStereoGroups.
TruePPM scalingtogetherwiththeclassicfastattackandslowdecay
timesareensuredbythehighspecificationprecisionmeterdriveamplifier.The
miniaturemovementsthat arefittedinthis1Uheightunit haveaslightlyrelaxed
specification, butverycloselyemulatethefull-sizedBS6840 meters. Internal, white
LEDilluminationisprovidedtoensurefull visibilityof themetersunderall
operational conditions.
PEAKLEVEL INDICATOR
Independentultra-brightredLEDs indicatepeakinputsignal levelsin
excess of +8.15dBU(+0.15dB)foreachchannel. TheseLEDs conformwiththefull
PPM specification,andarenotsubjecttotheballisticconsiderationsof meter
movements.
ForLoudness monitoring,toconfirmconformance withITU-RBS.1770-1,
thePeakthresholdmaybereducedfrom+8.15 to+2.15dB, ifdesired.

PHASEVERIFICATION
CorrectA1:A2phasingisindicatedbygreenilluminationof the f
indicator. Incorrect phasing isimmediatelyobviousasthe PPM findicator
changescolour to red.Relyingonthebasicalgebraicfunctionsof (L+R)&(L-R),
thephaseindicationisextremelyreliable,andisvital inaneditingenvironment
wherethehighlyvisual GO~~NO-GO indicatorprovidethisvital information
instantly,preventingexpensivemistakeswhichmayonlybecomeapparentmuch
later! Thephaseindicatorextinguisheswhen both A1andA2signalsarebelow
approximately-25dBU, preventingnuisance triggeringonverylowlevelsignals.
AUDIOINPUTS &OUTPUTS
Audioinputs,as4StereoGroups,areloopedacross complimentaryD25s,
andloopingXLR-3 connectors(Gp1and2only).Selectionbetweengroupsisby
frontpanelswitch. Gp3&4 maybefedwithanalogaudiofroman externalDAC.
+2dBadditional gainmaybeappliedtoGp3 &4via thefrontpanelswitch,
normalisingthe-20dBFS SMPTE Reference Levelto-18dBFS,forconventional
PPM monitoring.
Theselectedsource Group isfedvia thevolumecontroltoastereo
balancedlinedriver,andisavailableontherearpanelXLR3-Mtofeedexternal
amplifiersandloudspeakers. Aninternal linkmutestheinternal loudspeakers.
ADJUSTMENTS
Thereare no operational adjustmentswithintheMINI-MON2. Gainof thePPM
channelsaresetbythemultiturn potsR37 &R38, AFTERcheckingthat themeters
accuratelyread“PPM 4”whenthelinkLK1isremoved. R47 &R48 setthe
electrical calibrationof theindividual metermovementstocompensatefor
manufacturingtolerancesinabsolutesensitivity, theyare NOT intendedtoadjust
SystemGain.. Thetriggerpointof thepeakLEDindicatorsissetby“P2”to
+8.15dBU(+0.15dB)ontest.
DANGEROFELECTRICSHOCK &MAINSSAFETY
This“Class 1”equipmentrequiresanelectrical safetyearthat all times,
andis not specifiedformainspowereduseunderconditionsof atmospheric
precipitation,damporcondensinghumidity. Fusedat 3.15ATHRC.Ifa13Amp
plug topisused,Murrayprorecommendthat a5Afuseisfitted.Underno
circumstancesshouldthefuseratingbeincreased.
MainspowertotheMini-Monisnormallyprovidedbymeansof afused,
rearpanelmounted,IECinputconnector.TheMini-Monismountedwithinan
earthedmetal framedcase,andissafeunderoperational conditionswhenfusedas
specified.Howeverattentionisdrawntothefactthat ELECTRICALHAZARD
couldexistifthecaseisopenedbytechnicallynaivepersonsandtheinternal wiring
isexposedtointerference.Disturbance ormodificationtothemainswiringmustbe
avoidedorsafetymaybecompromised.
Engineeringadjustments,asdescribedinanearlierpassage,arenot
consideredtobehazardouswhenundertakenbyacompetentpersonexercisingdue
care.Murrayproalwaysrecommendthat themainsleadisunpluggedbeforethe
caseisopened.
MurrayproEquipmentistestedforelectrical safetyusingaSeaward
PAT1000stester. Earthcontinuityisalwayscheckedandwill notexceed0.1ohmat
8Amps, includingtheresistance of theexternal mainscableusedfortesting.
Access tothecasewill requiretheremoval of 3mm topcoverscrews.
Thesescrewsmustalwaysbereplaced,andtightened,beforetheUnit isreturnedto
service.Removal of thesescrewssignifiesunderstandingandacceptance of this
warning.Donotremoveanyof thecoverscrewsifyouhavedoubtsconcerningthe
aboveadvice.
