Veryversatile,this printercan alsobe used inPublicAdministration front-office
environmentsand inpost offices.It canbeequippedwithahorizontalmagnetic

Theuppermechanicalassemblylifting lever(1)is locatedon theleft-handsideof
the printerandisusedto liftthe upperpartof the mechanicalassemblysothat you
canaccessthe internalpaperpathsothatpaperjamscan beclearedandthe
ribbon cartridge replacedwithoutneeding topowerofftheprinter.
Toaccessthislever,lift the printercoverabout 45degreesuntil it stops.

2.INSTALLATION
2.1GENERALINSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS
Toensureoptimalprinterfunctionalityand toavoidmakingservicecallsfor
problemsthatarenot directlycausedbytheproduct itself,bearinmindthe
informationprovidedinthe followingsections.
2.1.1ELECTRICALPOWER SUPPLY
Makesurethattheelectricalwalloutlettowhichtheprinterisconnectedhasavalid
groundandthat it is abletosupplythe powerneeded bythe machine.Awalloutlet
without ground cancausefunctionalproblemsandcan beasafetyhazard.
Donotplugtheprintertoelectricalwall outletsthatarealreadybeingused by
equipmentthatcouldcauseelectricalnoiseandexcessive voltage fluctuations
(fansandairconditioners,largephotocopiers,lift motors,TVradiotransmittersand
signalgenerators,high frequencysafetydevices, andsoon).
Common officeequipment (calculatingmachines, typewriters,terminalsand
personalcomputers)cansharethesameoutletaslongastheydo notcause
excessiveelectricalnoiseorvoltagefluctuations.
2.1.2ENVIRONMENTALCONDITIONS
Environmentaltemperature: 15to35D
Relativehumidity: 15to85%
During machinestorageandoperation, makesurethatcondensation doesnot form
asthe resultof extremeenvironmentalvariations.Dust,dirt and smokecancause
thepartsinmotiontowearexcessively, short circuits(inthe presenceof ahigh
degreeofhumidity)andread/writeerrorsduringoperation.High temperaturesand
lowhumiditycan causeproblemsdue tostaticelectricity.
2.1.3LOCATINGTHEMACHINE
Theprintermustbe installed on aflat, vibration-free surface.
Donot position the machine nearairconditioningsystems, heat sourcesorindirect
sunlight.
Donot obstructtheprinter'sventilationslots.
Ifthe printerisinstalled inacabinet,makesurethatithasgoodventilationsoasto
avoidoverheating. Installthe printerinapositionsothatpaperjamscan be cleared
easily.

Aprinttestcanbe runto makesurethat the printerworks correctlybeforeactually
connecting ittothe system.
2.3.1STARTINGAND STOPPINGTHEPRINTTEST
Proceedasfollowstoactivatetheprint test:
Poweronthe printer, afterinitialization,itwillentertheon-line operation
- Pressing downthe"STATION2"and"COMPRESS"keyssimultaneouslyon
the console, theprinterwill entertheoff-lineoperation.
- PressingCOMPRESS keyuntil theLCDshows"MENU PRINTING",pressing
STOPkeytoaccept.
