USB-to-Serial Adapter Cable (Sabrent)
The USB-to-Serial Adapter Cable (Sabrent) converts data sent from currency devices to
the Terminal Display through its USB port. Using this cable can help improve
communication between the devices. This publication provides procedures for routing
the USB-to-Serial Adapter Cable in the NCRSelfServ™ Checkout (7707) unit.

Routing USB-to-Serial Adapter Cable
To route the USB-to-Serial Adapter Cable, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the NCR SelfServ™ Checkout (7707) R6-Japan software and hardware
systems.
2. Detach the back panel from the Tower Frame by removing two (2) screws.

3. Detach the back panel of the Lower Core (Cabinet) Module by removing six (6)
screws to access the devices and cable routing.

4. Disconnect the currency device connector from the KIO board by doing the
following:
a. Access the KIO Board.
b. Disconnect the RS232 DB9 connector from the COM1 port of the KIO Board, as
shown in the image below.
Note: For units where the currency device cable is connected to the RJ50 serial
adapter of the Terminal Display, disconnect the cable as shown in the image below.
Warning: Ensure that the system is turned off before disconnecting or
connecting cables to avoid damaging the internal chip of the Terminal Display
and making the adapter unusable.
5. Remove the cable from the P-loops until the cable reaches the Upper Enclosure
assembly.

6. Unlock the Tower frame from the back using a key.
7. Raise the Terminal Display.

8. Detach the cable guide by removing one (1) screw, as shown in the image below.
9. Connect the USB-to-Serial adapter cable to the USB Port B of the Terminal Display.
Warning: Ensure that the system is turned off before disconnecting or
connecting cables to avoid damaging the internal chip of the Terminal Display
and making the adapter unusable.
10. Route the USB-to-Serial adapter cable along with the other cables from the Upper
Enclosure going down to the Lower Cabinet.

11. Attach the cable guide using one (1) screw.
12. Connect the currency device cable to the USB-to-Serial adapter cable and then
secure the connection by tightening the two (2) screws.

13. Route the excess cable length on the rear left side of the lower cabinet by doing the
following:
a. Create a large loop.
b. Insert the excess cable through the P-loop, as shown in the image below.
14. Do the following:
• Attach the upper back panel back to the Tower Frame using two (2)screws.

• Attach the lower back panel to the lower cabinet using six (6) screws.
15. Lower the Terminal Display and then lock the Tower frame using a key.

Installing USB-to-Serial Adapter Driver
To install the USB-to-Serial Adapter Driver, follow these steps:
! Important: Ensure that the Glory cable is firmly connected to the USB-to-Serial
adapter cable, and the USB Type A end is connected to theTerminal Display (Port B).
The driver will not successfully install if these cables are not connected.
Note: The unit must have an internet connection to download the driver file/s.

Note: For more information, refer to HF1803_Prolific_Driver_Update_v1.0 - Release
Notes.
2. Download the HF1803_Prolific_Driver_Update_v1.0.exe file.
3. Install the HF1803_Prolific_Driver_Update_v1.0.exe file. The User Account
Control prompt appears.
4. Select Yes. The application automatically installs.

5. Once the installation process is completed, do the following:
a. Go to C:\scot\config\.
b. Update the CADD.001 with the following data below:

c. Go to C:\scot\logs.
d. Delete CADDRuntime.dat
6. Restart the SelfServ Checkout unit.

7. After restarting the system, do the following:
a. Run add.bat. The application automatically detects and reinstalls the drivers.
b. Exercise the recycler devices using the Profile Manager Lite (PML) tool test
utilities and verify that the devices are functioning as expected. For instructions
on how to use the PML tool, refer to the NCRFastLane SelfServ™ Checkout Profile
Manager Lite User Guide (B005-0000-2279).
