THE ULTIMATUM XL10 LOUDSPEAKER
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Congratulations on choosing the ULTIMATUM XL10 loudspeakers. Used correctly, they will pro ide a lifetime of
beautiful music. Please read the following notes in order to get the best from them.
RUNNING IN
A 'running in' perio of at least 200 hours is necessary to stabilise performance. After this perio , a
further gra ual improvement will occur over a perio of several weeks.
ASSEMBLY
The XL10s are packed in two separate crates, with the plinth located abo e the main enclosure.
Place the XL10 upside-down on a clean, non-abrasi e surface. Place the plinth on the bottom of the cabinet
(with the arrow mark facing the front) and line up the screw-holes with those on the cabinet. (The countersunk
holes on the plinth should be facing towards you.) Fit the countersunk screws with the supplied 4mm allen key.
Return to upright, place the XL10 in required position, loosen the locking rings, then le el the speaker by turning
the spikes with the supplied 6mm allen key. When le el, tighten the locking rings by hand.
YOUR SYSTEM
It is important to extract the maximum of recorded information from your chosen source components. This
means using the ery best turntable/cd player, etc. that your budget will allow. Amplification and cabling should
be of appropriate quality as the ULTIMATUM XL10 will re eal deficiencies here also.
CONNECTIONS
For normal single-wired operation, connect the cables from the amplifier to the terminals on the rear of the
enclosure. The upper or lower set may be used, and a small difference in sound may be heard between the two
sets. Take care to ensure correct phasing (i.e. red + and black - connections maintained at amplifier and
speaker).
The ULTIMATUM XL10 is also configured for 'bi-amping' or 'bi-wiring'. Bi-wiring is effected by running two sets of
cable from the amplifier output terminals. First, remo e the metal bridging links from the terminals and then
tighten the terminal cups. Connect one set of cables to the lower set of terminals and one set to the upper
terminals on the rear of the speaker.
Where bi-amplification is being considered, it is ad isable to consult a dealer, or Neat Acoustics, for ad ice.
