Bezel width has been reduced drastically from one generation to the next to improve tiling performace
and esthetics
BEZEL WIDTH EVOLUTION
The natural changes in brightness in many environments also suggest a brightness adjustment of video
walls. Since it would be very inconvenient to adjust brightness levels manually, the MultiSync X461UN
features an external ambient light sensor the position of which the user can freely determine.
The displays in the wall are daisy chained with a supplied cable to adjust the brightness of the entire wall
evenly through the ambient light sensor.
The automatic brightness control of the video wall helps reduce power consumption and avoids blinding
brightness levels seen with LED walls.

CALIBRATION FEATURES
NEC MultiSync®X461UN
Only pefect looking screens are able to communicate a strong and clear message. In order to secure perfect color
and brightness uniformity, MultiSync X461UN products are calibrated by the factory at 500 cd/m2. Furthermore
the products are „aged“ to make sure the calibration remains stable and the uniformity will not change after a
few ours of operation.
Depending on what color temperature or brightness level is desired, the X461UN
enables the user to do his own calibration.
It is crucial in many installations to control the products remotely. Sometimes inputs are changed, some-
times the user simply requires a confirmation the displays are running perfectly and don‘t experience any
problems. While this was done in the past and will be possible in the future with NEC public displays, the
X461UN offers these features not only through RS232 but also via Ethernet.
The product is supplied with an Ethernet port which enables certain controls over the network and alarm
emails in the unlikely event of product problems such as back light failures or overheating.

There a many ways to drive a video wall with X461UN depending on size and budget of the installation.
A cost efficient way NEC recommends for walls of 3x3 or smaller is to use the NEC Built-In PC together
with NEC DVI daisy chain boards.
The advantage of this solution is that all hardware components including the required DVI cables are sup-
plied by a single vendor. This secures compatibility of all components, service from a single source and 3
years of warranty for all hardware products in the in the solution.

HEAT CONTROL
Public displays emit a certain amount of heat during operation as not all energy is converted to light. While
this is not a major concern in stand alone installations, it is something that needs to be considered when
building a video wall. Good ventilation is crucial because very often the termperatures rise from row to row
In order to verify the temperature of the wall, the user can check the thermal status of each screen thanks
to the integrated temperature sensors of the X461UN. Furthermore the user can not only activate the fans
of the product but determine fan speed and temperature thesholds for their activation.
Due to the sensors and the normally inactive fans, the X461UN enables the user to secure perfect operating
environment with unparalleled longevity and reliability of a wall built with NEC MultiSync X461UN.
