1. PURPOSE
The purpose of the device is the detection of ultraviolet radiation released by every flame.
These detectors are not sensitive to detect infrared radiations nor other artificial sources.
2. CONSTRUCTION
2.1 Mechanics
The detector is made up by a plastic box with alluminium silk screen front end and by a fiber glass printed
circuit for the mounting of electronic components.
On the front box there are:
•a power supply green LED;
•an alarm red LED;
•an UV lamp protected by a quartz glass.
2.2 Electronics
The electronics part is made up by:
•a power supply circuit;
•a control circuit;
•an alarm circuit.
3. FUNCTIONING
The GL91AMP detector is provided by a sensitive valve that at the presence of UV wave-lenght in the range 185-
260 nm. hoods and allawds the passage of current.
The functioning is managed by a programmable micro-processor.
At start-up there is first test of CPU and connected devices and then the function cycle begins.
On the board there are 4 jumpers. The jumpers T0, T1 and T2 dermine the answer time of the detector in
accordance with the following table:
T0 T1 T2 ALARM DELAY
yes yes yes 1 second
no yes yes 2 seconds

yes no yes 4 seconds
no no yes 6 seconds
yes yes no 8 seconds
no yes no 10 seconds
yes no no 12 seconds
no no no 14 seconds
Besides the above delays the alarm status is generated following an algorithm granting the filtering of false
alarms caused by any interference, air agent or casual short lasting flame.
The fourth jumper (MODE jumper) selects the functioning mode in accordance with the following table:
MODE FUNCTIONING MODE
yes with alarm storing (normal)
no without alarm storing (ON-OFF)
With the detector set on the normal functioning mode, the dector must be connected to a conventional
detection control panel.
When an alarm is detected, it will pulse. The supervided output line and always will activate the alarm relay to
reset the detector, operate a reset on the connected control panel
Resetting the corresponding detection board will reset the detector.
Setting the ON-OFF functioning mode the supervised output line is never activated (terminal block 3-4-5-6) and
when an alarm is detected the relay output is activated until the alarm condition is cleared.
When the alarm condition is cleared the detector will reset automatically until the next event. With this
functioning mode the iterated alarm output follows the detector status in an ON-OFF fashion.
When installing in non protected areas, given the high impendance of the sensitive device, the box must be
waterproof by waterproof wire pressing and a grommet under the front panel.

5.1 Installation
The detector installation is made on a revolving clamp and its location is the one set on the project.
Electric connections and end of line resistors must meet drawing and connection schemes.
5.2 Working test
The working test shall be performed after checking that the system and detectors have been installed in
accordance with drawings and project.
ATTENTION: in the event that the detector has been installed on a line coupled to an extinguishing
system, set the release control board on RESET.
The test is performed with a flame generator.
The detector’s LED lighting confirms that it has been activated and will transmit to the zone board the alarm
status.
Reset the detector (by pressing the corresponding key on the control panel) or through the reset key of the
board.
5.3 Intervention
When there is a flame-fire in the protected room it is detected by one or more detectors that will signal to the
control panel the alarm status.
The detector’s red LED latching on indicates its alarm status.
6. MAINTENANCE
6.1 Semi-annual maintenance
1. Exclude any extinguishing system coupled to the detection line.
2. Test detector by zone to verify proper working.
3. During test verify that the alarm is transimitted and the red LED lights on.
7. TERMINAL BLOCK
•M1 = 22/30 Vdc positive.
•M2 = 22/30 Vdc negative.
•M3 = positive input line (balanced line).
•M4 = positive output line l(balanced line).
•M5 = negative input line (balanced line).
•M6 = negative output line (balanced line).
•M7 = common alarm relay.
•M8 = N.O. or N.C. alarm relay.
