1Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the BriteLight™switch, powered by Nuro™.
Terminologies:
•BriteLight: BriteLight refers to:
The dimmer switch (model SDS-100)
The relay switch (model SRS-100)
Premium switch (SDS-100-IAQ or SRS-100-IAQ)
•BriteHome: BriteHome refers to the mobile app and is available for both iOS and Android.
•BriteCloud: Cloud services associated with BriteLight.
•Premises: Premises refers to the dwelling in which one or more BriteLight switches are located. In
most cases, your first Premises will be your home. If you are using BriteLight switches in multiple
dwellings, you can create as many Premises as needed.
•Room: Room refers to the physical or logical area within a dwelling in which BriteLight is located.
You can create as many Rooms as needed for each Premises.
•Profile: A profile defines the behavior of the light for one or more BriteLight switches. Profiles
configure the environmental parameters used by sensors for lighting and are associated to a
schedule that follows time. For example, daylight harvesting will activate if enabled and if there is
enough ambient light.
•Schedule: Schedule refers to a timetable on when a profile is applicable on one or more
BriteLight switches. Schedules can also be tied to sunrise and sunset with an offset. BriteCloud
takes care of auto adjusting sunrise/sunset times related to seasonal shifts.
•Group: Group refers to combining the operation of multiple switches to work in tandem, such as to
provide manual or touchless 3-way or multi-way functionality.
•Scenes: Scene refers to setting the dimming level of multiple switches simultaneously and
independently in one or more Rooms to create a specific mood or atmosphere —such as dimming
the lights to watch TV.
BriteLight delivers a new level of automation for your home’s lighting. It works like a regular dimmer
(SDS-100) or ON/OFF (SRS-100) switch right out of the box, and the BriteHome™app enables
touchless intelligent features.
In addition to enabling new features on the BriteLight switch, the BriteHome app makes it easy to
monitor, control and configure any switch whenever you are internet connected.
In this manual, we will cover the following:
•How to set up and use the BriteHome app
•How to install the BriteLight switch

BriteLight Installation and Operation Manual Page 10 of 84
•Once verified successfully, the app will ask you to set a password. Once you’ve set a
new password, click on Proceed.
At this point, the app may ask you to turn on Location Services.
Why do we ask for your personal information?
•Your email address is needed to protect your account and provide alerts and/or
updates when necessary.
•We ask for Location Services to be enabled while the app is in use to determine
the sunrise and sunset times for your location.
Protecting Your Information
Here at Nuro, we take the issue of personal privacy very seriously.
•Other than storing your email address for account purposes, we do not store any
personally identifiable information (PII) on the cloud.
•All Nuro-enabled switches and services use end-to-end encryption to protect all
personal information, including passwords.
•All Nuro authentication processes use public key infrastructure (PKI) certificates.
3.3 Adding Your Home
In pairing your first switch, you must first create the premises (e.g., your home) and later in the
process designate the room or area in which it is installed
The app will display the Add Premises screen. This will let you set the details for your home:
Verification Code Screen
Password Confirmation Screen

•Enter a name for your home in Premises Name.
•Tip:
Provide a simple name for your home so you can easily identify it, e.g., “Our Home” or
“Smith Residence” or “123 Main St.”
•Select the appropriate time zone.
•Click on Get Current Location. Click on Fetch to get the sunrise and sunset times for your
location (based on latitude and longitude).
•These times will be automatically adjusted throughout the year.
•Once the app has connected to your BriteLight switch, the sunrise and sunset times will
automatically be uploaded to the switch.
•Click on Proceed.

Pairing First Switch Screen

•The app will display the Configure Switch screen.
•Enter a name for your switch.
Tip:
In the BriteHome app, switches are listed under the room (area) they are
associated with, and rooms are listed in alphabetical order.
In naming your switch, you'll want to include the room or area name and what type of
lighting it's controlling.
If you have a lot of rooms, to keep your room list shorter you might want to consider a
name that describes an area (i.e., a group of rooms).
For example, three rooms (a bedroom with its own bathroom and a walk-in closet with one
light) might be named after the person using them (e.g., Tom).

Where “G-“ is for guest house, “M-“ is for main house, “D-“is for downstairs and “U-“is for
upstairs. For single story home you can directly use room names without any affix.
•Click on Start.
•The app will begin the process for connecting (or “provisioning”) the BriteLight switch. Follow
the instructions on the screen.

•The app will display a list of nearby Wi-Fi networks.
•Select the Wi-Fi network to which the BriteLight switch should be connected (usually your home
Wi-Fi), enter the password for this network, and click on Select.
Note:
If you can’t see the Wi-Fi that you intend to use, the Wi-Fi may be hidden or does not
support 2.4GHz. (BriteLight does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.)
BriteLight does not support Wi-Fi names or passwords that include spaces.
•Click on Proceed.
•The app will pair with the BriteLight and automatically configure it for your Wi-Fi network.
•The BriteLight will connect to the Internet and automatically configure itself with the latest
features and may perform a software upgrade, if necessary. This process may take a few
minutes, during which time the app will display a “wait screen.”

BriteLight Installation and Operation Manual Page 17 of 84
•When the switch is ready, the app will let you know that the switch has been successfully
paired.
•Click on Complete.
A Note about Wi-Fi and Smart Phones
•Occasionally, a smart phone may switch its Wi-Fi settings during the connection
process. This can happen on either iOS or Android.
•If this happens, the BriteHome app will provide the appropriate instructions to
continue.
•Upon completion of the provisioning process, you can configure BriteLight’s behavior based on
existing configurations or can create a new configuration using “The Wizard”.
•If you are a pro user and want to begin using your switch without any configuration, click on
the “Skip”button and go to section 3.5.

BriteLight Installation and Operation Manual Page 18 of 84
•Configure Switch screen displays information about three configurations for your switch:
oStart the Wizard
oCopy Configuration
oAssign existing Schedules

3.4.1 Start the Wizard (Ideal for first time users)
You'll be assigning a new behavior to your switch using one of three options:
oFollow day schedule
•Ideal for rooms with windows where the level of natural light varies throughout the
day.
•Select this if you want to define the lighting behavior across four different periods of
the day.
•You’re provided with four schedules with default names: Morning, Day (after dawn),
Evening (after dusk), and Night.
•In each schedule, you’re creating the profile specifying the start of each schedule
and the preferred level of light during that period.
oTurn on light at Fixed Time
•Ideal for outdoor patio and/or garden lights where you want the light to
automatically turn on and off within a specific period of the day.
•It creates two schedules that will again have default names - one for that period and
a second for the rest-of-day when the light is not on.
•For the period when it’s on, you specify the start time, the preferred light level, and
the end time (the profile).
oTurn on light based on Activity every time.
•Ideal for areas that are always dark due to a lack of windows (e.g., interior
corridors and or a powder room without windows).
•It creates one schedule and one profile representing the entire day with a Light level
and Activity Timeout.
Within each of these three options, a Skip button is provided on every screen in case you
want to skip the wizard at any point.

3.4.1.1 Follow a Day Schedule (4 schedules throughout the day)
•Select “Follow day schedule” when you can want to define complete day behavior. You
can define different behavior for morning, day (after dawn), evening (after dusk), and
late night.
•You can specify a preferred light level and time for each schedule.
•Click Save. Four profiles will be created, and four schedules will be assigned to your
switch with default names. Default names are displayed on the Summary screen as
shown below.
