dancewithall applicable codesandstandards, including fire-ratedconstructioncodes
andstandards.
4. Sufficientairisneededforpropercombustionandexhaustingofgasesthroughtheflue
(chimney)offuelburningequipmentto prevent backdrafting. Follow theheatingequip-
mentmanufacturer’s guidelines and safety standards such as those publishedby the
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating,
RefrigerationandAirConditioningEngineers(ASHRAE),and thelocalcodeauthorities.
5. When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other
hiddenutilities.
6. Ductedfans must alwaysbe vented tothe outdoors.
7. Donot use thisunit with any separatesolid-state speed controldevice.
8. Toreduce the risk of fire, use only steel ductwork.
9. Thisunit must be grounded.
TOREDUCETHERISK OF A RANGETOPGREASE FIRE:
A. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and
greasyspilloversthat may ignite. Heatoilsslowlyon low ormediumsettings.
B. Alwaysturn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when flambeing food(i.e. Crepes
Suzette,Cherries Jubilee, PeppercornBeef Flambe’).
C. Cleanventilatingfans frequently. Greaseshouldnotbeallowedto accumulate onfanor
filter.
D. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface
element.
