On/O Switch
On: Slide the switch to the left to turn the NUU Splash on. When powered on, the Splash says“Power On!”to indicate this.
O: Slide the switch to the right to turn the NUU Splash o. When powered o.
NOTE: Do not ip the power switch on/o rapidly. Wait for the sound before moving the switch again.
Bluetooth Status Light
This is a small light above the Action Button that illuminates to show the current status of the Splash’s Bluetooth connection.
• (Blue)Flashing Slowly: The Splash is on and is not in pairing mode. This is also the indicator for“auto-reconnect”, where the
Splash attempts to connect with the last paired Bluetooth device immediately after it is powered on.
• (Blue)Flashing Quickly: Pairing mode (you will hear the word“Waiting for connection”from the Splash)
• (Blue)Solidly Lit: Paired and connected.

Action Button
The Action button controls:
• Switching Modes • FM auto-scanning • Bluetooth pairing
• Play/Pause • Re-connect • Mute/Unmute
TO SWITCH BETWEEN BLUETOOTH, FM, AND LINE-IN MODES:
Every time you power on your Splash, it starts in Bluetooth mode. Use the Action button to switch to FM and Line-in modes.
1. Power on the Splash

• (Green)Flashing Slowly: FM Mode active.
• (Green)Flashing Quickly: FM automatic channel scan in progress.
• (Green)Solidly Lit: Line-in mode active.

2. Wait for the Splash to fully enter Bluetooth mode. You will hear either“Bluetooth connected”if you previously connected a phone to
your Splash, OR you will hear“Waiting for connection”if you did not. When you hear one of those phrases, you may go to step #3.
3. Press and HOLD the Action button to switch to the next mode in sequence
4. After switching to a new mode, you must release and then press and HOLD the Action button to go to the next mode
5. You will hear“Radio”when the Splash switches to FM Radio mode
6. You will hear“Line-in”when the Splash switches to Line-in mode
7. You will hear“Bluetooth”when the Splash switches to Bluetooth mode
TO SCAN FOR FM STATIONS:
1. Switch to FM Radio mode as above. You will hear either static or an FM station
2. Adjust the volume as needed, using the volume +/- buttons

3. Click the Action button one time. The Splash will then scan the FM band for stations it can receive
TO START BLUETOOTH PAIRING:
1. Power on the Splash
2. The Splash will say“Power On”, then“Bluetooth”, and“Waiting for connection”
3. When you hear“Waiting for connection”, the Splash is in pairing mode and can be found by nearby devices
4. If your Splash is already paired with a device and you want to pair it to a dierent device, double-click the Action button .
You will hear“Waiting for connection”as in Step #3
TO PAIR THE SPLASH WITH YOUR BLUETOOTH DEVICE:
1. Enter Bluetooth pairing mode as above
2. Enable Bluetooth on your phone or other device, then select“NUU Splash”from the list of discoverable devices

3. If prompted for a PIN code, enter“0000”(4 zeros)
4. It will take between 10-15 seconds for the Splash to pair with your device. When pairing is successful, you will hear the Splash
say“Bluetooth connected!”and the Bluetooth status light will remain steadily lit
NOTE: Procedures for activating Bluetooth will vary across devices. Consult the documentation that came with your phone or other device
for further information.
PLAY/PAUSE (in Bluetooth mode):
While paired, the Action button controls the play/pause functions. Click the Action button once to pause, click it again to resume playback.
RECONNECT (in Bluetooth mode):
If the Splash was previously paired with a device but has not reconnected to that device, you can click the Action button once to start a
re-connection attempt. Usually this is not necessary, but you may need to do this if your device goes out of range of the Splash and comes
back into range later.

MUTE (in Line-in mode):
While in Line-in mode, clicking the Action button once mutes the sound. Clicking it again un-mutes the sound.
Volume Up Volume Down
CONTROLLING VOLUME
Press or hold the volume keys / to adjust the volume. When you reach maximum volume, the Splash will say
“Maximum volume!”. There is no voice prompt for minimum volume.
3.5mm AUX-IN – Plug & Play
The Splash can connect to any device with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Use the supplied 3.5mm input cable to plug and play, no Bluetooth
required. You must rst switch to Line-in mode in order to hear playback.
NOTE: Accessories supplied do not meet waterproof and dustproof specications.

Micro-USB Charging Port
CHARGING THE SPLASH’S BATTERY:
For best results, ensure the Splash is fully charged before use.
Connect the supplied Micro-USB cable into the charging port , and plug the USB side into your computer or a USB AC adapter (adapter
not supplied). The red charging indicator will remain illuminated while the Splash is charging. The indicator will go dark when the unit is
fully charged. The indicator ashes red when the battery is low. Allow 2.5 hours for the battery to fully charge.The Splash may be used
while it is charging.
NOTE: If you intend to use the Splash while charging, audio output quality may suer during playback while charging via computer.
Charging Indicator
A ashing red light indicates that the battery is low and should be recharged soon.When charging, this light shows red until the Splash is
fully charged, at which point it goes dark.

Built-in Microphone – Making and Taking Calls
The Splash may be used as a wireless speakerphone when paired with your phone via Bluetooth. Use your phone to dial as usual, and
speak toward the built-in microphone located at the top of the unit. The built-in microphone only works when your phone/device is
connected via Bluetooth.
Incoming and outgoing calls are given priority over all audio playback (Bluetooth, FM, and Line-in). When a call comes in, playback will
pause. Playback will resume once the call has ended and the Splash switches back to the mode it was in (if not in Bluetooth mode).
Action Button : Click the Action button to answer an incoming call. Click it again to disconnect the call.
Next Track : Press and HOLD to dial the last outgoing phone number again.
Previous Track : During a call, press and HOLD to switch the call between the Splash and your phone. When an incoming call is
ringing, press and HOLD to send the call to voicemail.

Listening to the FM Radio:
The SplashTrail+ comes with an integrated FM antenna that allows it to pick up FM radio stations. This antenna is inside the
Splash and there is no external antenna port or the like; this is so you can seal up the Splash and still have an FM radio that’s
waterproof. To use the FM radio:
1. Place the Splash where you want it to be
2. Switch to FM mode as above
3. Click the Action button one time to make the Splash scan for available FM stations. This will take about a minute or two,
depending on how many can be received clearly
4. The Splash is done scanning for stations when it stays on one station
Previous Track Next Track
When you are streaming audio via Bluetooth, you may press the button to skip forward to the next track in your playlist. Press the
button to skip back to the previous track in your playlist, or to the beginning of your current track.

5. Use the Previous/Next Track buttons to switch between stations that showed up clearly during the scan in Step #2
EXAMPLE: While scanning for stations, the Splash turns up stations A, B, and C. Starting on station A, pressing the Next
Track button would switch the Splash to station B, and pressing it again would then switch it to station C. Pressing one
more time would cycle back around to station A.
You may need to reorient or reposition the Splash to improve reception. Use the auto-scan feature after moving the Splash
in order to refresh the list of stations it can receive.
USB SPEAKER MODE:
The Splash can be used as a USB speaker when connected to your computer’s USB port. Once connected, you may control
playback with the Action button and Prev/Next Track buttons. You must adjust the volume on the computer and the Splash
separately.
If the Splash does not automatically connect, you may have to manually select Splash as your output device. Consult your com-
puter’s documentation to learn how to do so.

WATERPROOF & DUSTPROOF PERFORMANCE
The Splash is designed to be waterproof and dustproof. Damage caused from misuse, abuse or failure to properly maintain the Splash is not
covered by the limited warranty.
• The Splash is IP57 certied and will operate at a water depth of 3 feet for up to 30 minutes.
• Use the Splash in the recommended operating water temperature range of –10°C to +40°C (14°F to 104°F). Do not use in hot springs.
• As for dustproof performance, there is no guarantee that the Splash will not become scratched or dented.
• Accessories supplied do not meet waterproof and dustproof specications.
NOTES BEFORE USING SPLASH UNDER/NEAR WATER
• Always conrm that the cover over the charging and AUX-IN port has been securely sealed. Splash will only meet IP57 standards when
cover has been securely closed.To securely close the cover, follow these steps:
Ensure the Splash is fully charged before using as a USB speaker. Your computer’s USB port may not be able to supply enough
power to charge and play music at the same time.

1. Firmly seat the inside edge of the cover in place
2. Using both thumbs, press down at both ends of the cover at the same time to ensure it is in place, ush, and sealed
• If dirt or sand gets on the power charging port(s), wipe the area clean with a soft cloth that will not leave behind any bers.
• Do not open or close the charging port cover with wet or sandy hands or near water.
• Make sure the Splash is completely dry before opening the charging port cover.

IP57 Denition:
Solid particle protection level 5 - Ingress of dust is not entirely prevented, but it must not enter in sucient quantity to interfere
with the satisfactory operation of the equipment; complete protection against contact.
Liquid ingress protection level 7 - Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in
water under dened conditions of pressure and time (up to 3 feet of submersion for 30 minutes).
Drop Testing - NUU Splash drop testing meets or exceeds 1M drop test standards.
TROUBLESHOOTING
• Unable to pair with your Bluetooth device?
1. Ensure that your phone/device is Bluetooth compatible, and that Bluetooth has been correctly enabled on your device.
(Check the documentation that came with your phone/device for further instructions).
2. Ensure that your phone/device is within a few feet the NUU Splash.

3. If your phone/device is connected to a number of other Bluetooth devices, disconnect some of them before pairing with the
NUU Splash.
4. Turn Bluetooth o and then on again on your phone/device. If the NUU Splash still won’t pair, remove it from the list of
discoverable devices and retry the pairing process from the start.
5. Ensure that both devices are suciently charged.
• Problems with the sound?
1. For sound distortion, try lowering the volume on the NUU Splash and/or your phone/device.
2. Move the NUU Splash closer to your phone/device.
3. Connect your phone/device to the NUU Splash via the 3.5mm input cable rather than Bluetooth. Ensure that the cable is
fully inserted at both ends.
4. Ensure that both devices are suciently charged.

• NUU Splash not responding to commands such as volume change, play/pause, pair, etc.?
1. Switch the NUU Splash o and then on again.
2. If there is still no response after step 1, connect the unit to the supplied power adapter and repeat step 1.
3. Check that your phone or other device is suciently charged.

WARNINGS

• Do not expose this product to excessive impact or other physical abuse. Do not insert anything into this product unless otherwise
specied in the user manual.
• Do not use abrasive cleaners on this product. Wipe it with a soft, water-dampened cloth.
• Only charge the battery in accordance with the user manual supplied. Use only the manufacturer supplied charger. Using other
chargers could result in electric shock and/or damage the NUU Splash. Using other chargers will void the warranty.
