2. Getting Started
To unbox your OATI GridPort, remove the GridPort, AC power adapter, and network cable (if
applicable) from the packaging. Please be sure to read all instructions and safety information
prior to powering up your GridPort.
The first step to setting up your GridPort is to select an install location. Depending on the
purchased model, your Gridport may have Wi-Fi®, Ethernet, or both. Please select the
connection method that is appropriate for your GridPort model and installation location (See
Section 2.1 Establish Internet Connection). Please see sections 6 and 7 for installation
restrictions.
After the location has been selected, use the included AC power adapter to power your
GridPort. Plug the AC power adapter into a 120v wall outlet and the device-end connector
into the GridPort. The Power Light (refer to Status Indicator section) will turn green
indicating the GridPort has powered up. The Status Light will blink red in a heartbeat rhythm
during system startup. Once the system has completed its startup, the Network Light will
blink red indicating the GridPort is ready for a network connection.
2.1 Establish Internet Connection
An Internet connection is required in most models to support cloud communication.
Establishing the Internet connection allows the GridPort to activate. Follow one of the two
methods below to connect your GridPort to the Internet.
2.1.1 Ethernet Network
Connect the included Ethernet cable to the GridPort Ethernet port (Item 6 in “Know your
GridPort”). Connect the other end to an available port on your router. During power up, refer
to the “Status Indicator” section of the User Manual to monitor startup process and any
errors.
2.1.2 Wireless Network
Wireless connection gives you the freedom to connect the GridPort anywhere in the home
that is covered by your wireless router.

Connecting to a Wireless Access Point can be done two ways:
1. On routers with a wireless settings button, you may connect your GridPort by quickly and
easily following these steps:
a. Press the wireless settings button on the wireless router.
b. Press the wireless settings button on the GridPort within 60 seconds of Step a.
c. The Network Light (see Table 1) will change from flashing red to solid red after
approximately 10 seconds.
d. If the Network Light turns green, the cloud connection was successful. If the light
does not turn green, verify your local internet connection is functioning properly. If
your local internet connection is functioning, refer to the troubleshooting guide
located at <insert URL>.
2. Download OATI’s webSmartView application from the application store for your mobile
device. Follow the instructions on-screen to complete the setup and connection process.

3. GridPort Features
3.1 Connecting End Devices
GridPort is able to connect to a wide variety of devices.
If you are participating in utility “Energy Savings”programs, supported devices will show up
in the list of available devices on the webSmartViewMobile application. Refer to the available
end device’s User Manual for pairing instructions.
3.2 Shut Down
To shut down the GridPort, press the power button on the back of the GridPort momentarily.
The Network, Status and HAN Lgihts will turn amber indicating that shutdown has started.
When all Lights are off, the GridPort is shut down and can be safely unplugged.
3.3 Network Reset
A network reset feature is available on the GridPort. This will reset only the network settings,
leaving all other device data intact. To reset the network settings use a paperclip or other
small object to press and hold the reset button for approximately 3 seconds. The Network
Lights will flash rapidly for a few seconds to indicate the network settings were cleared. DO
NOT hold the reset button for over five seconds or a factory reset will result!
3.4 Factory Reset
To perform a factory reset, using a straightened end of a paperclip, press and hold the reset
button for five seconds. The factory reset will perform the same steps as the Network Reset
and, in addition, will clear all user configuration settings including paired devices.

4. Cautions
1. Do not plug the GridPort into a power strip or extension cord; always plug the GridPort
directly into a wall outlet.
2. Avoid using this product during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electric
shock from lightning.
3. This product contains lead, known to the State of California to cause cancer, and birth
defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.
4. Do not attempt to disassemble the GridPort beyond accessing the user-accessible panel.
Disassembling the GridPort will damage the product, requiring replacement at your
expense.
5. The GridPort is meant to be operated indoors. Do not expose the GridPort to extremely
high or low temperatures.
6. Use only the power source that has been provided with your GridPort.
7. Do not use this product near water, for example, in a wet basement or near a swimming
pool.

5. Federal Communications Commission
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment
generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in
accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If
this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be
determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try and correct
the interference by one or more of the following measures:
Reorient or locate the receiving antenna.
Increase the distance between the equipment and receiver.
Connect the equipment into an outlet on a different circuit than that to which the
receiver is connected.
Consult the radio/television dealer or an experienced radio/television technician for help.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two
conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must
accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an uncontrolled

20cm between the radiator and your body.

contained module may be accessed by removing the cover panel to the user-accessible
compartment.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by SmartGuard, LLC could void the user’s
