2. CONSULT WITH A PHYSICIAN PRIOR TO OPERATION
IF YOU HAVE A PACEMAKER. Plasma Cutters create
an Electromagnetic Field (EMF) which can interfere with
pacemakers. These High Frequency (HF) waves may
disturb other sensitive electronic equipment.
3. DO NOT attempt to perform repairs on this product.
WARNING:PLASMA CUTTING PRODUCES ARC
AND UV RAYS THAT CAN BURN SKIN AND CAUSE
EYE DAMAGE.
1. Signs should be posted within the workspace stating
hazards and precautions associated with plasma
cutting and related protection.
2. The operator and nearby personnel located in the
workspace should wear protective shields conforming
to ANSI standards, with the proper filter and cover
plates to protect eyes from sparks and arc rays.
3. The operator and nearby personnel located in the
welding workspace should wear protective clothing
made with flame-resistant material to protect skin from
sparks, metal and arc rays.
WARNING:PLASMA CUTTING PRODUCES
ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELDS. THESE FIELDS ARE
DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR
DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT FOLLOWED.
1. Plasma Cutting current creates an Electromagnetic
Field (EMF) around the machine, leads and cords.
EM fields interfere with some pacemakers (as stated
previously), and prolonged exposure to EM fields may
have other health effects that are undetermined. Before
operating this product, the operator and personnel
located within the workspace should understand that
there are health risks (determined and undetermined)
associated with arc rays and EM fields.
2. MINIMIZE EXPOSURE TO EM FIELDS BY EMPLOYING
THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS:
a. DO NOT place your body between the electrode
and the work cables.
b. DO NOT coil or wrap the leads around any part of
the body.
c. DO NOT SEPARATE work cables and leads. Route
and secure the cables together.
d. DO NOT work/cut directly beside the power source.
e. Ensure the ground cable is connected to the
workpiece as close to the cut as possible.
WARNING:SPARKS CAN CAUSE FIRE AND
EXPLOSION, WHICH CAN LEAD TO INJURY, DEATH
AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. ALWAYS HAVE A FIRE
EXTINGUISHER WITHIN THE WORK AREA AND
IMPLEMENT A FIRE ESCAPE PLAN.
1. Remove all flammable items and potential fire hazards
from the workspace. If there are fire hazards that
cannot be removed, these should be covered with a
fire-resistant cover.
2. DO NOT operate near hydraulic, fuel or natural gas lines.
3. DO NOT operate near flammable gases, residue or
greases. Take proper steps to ventilate and clean
workspace prior to use.
4. DO NOT operate near compressed gases. DO NOT
heat, cut or weld tanks, drums or other containers that
may have stored flammable gases or liquids. While
these tanks may be “empty”, residue will remain that
could lead to fire or explosion.
5. It is imperative that the operator and personnel located
within the workspace wear oil-free, flame-resistant
clothing. Clothing should provide full coverage: heavy
leather gloves, long-sleeve shirt, full length pants (no
cuff), high protective leather boots and a welding cap
that covers all hair. Clothing should be well fitted;
loose fitting clothing may create a fire hazard. When
operating in confined spaces, flame-resistant earplugs
or earmuffs should be worn.
6. DO NOT connect the work cable to building
framework. Connect the Ground Clamp to work as
close the cut as possible.
7. All cylinders should be securely stored in an upright
position away from workspace. Plasma cutting can
project sparks and debris that may strike cylinders.
DO NOT allow the machine, Ground Cable or Torch to
contact a cylinder. Prior to cutting, ensure the valves on
all cylinders in the vicinity are closed.
8. ALWAYS check the workpiece and surrounding work
area for smoke, flame, sparks or evidence of fire.
WARNING:ELECTRIC SHOCK CAN KILL. DO NOT
TOUCH Torch, WORK OR GROUND WHILE THE PLASMA
CUTTER IS PLUGGED INTO A POWER SOURCE.
1. DO NOT wear wet clothing or gloves.
2. DO NOT place the electrode in water.
3. DO NOT allow components of (2) Plasma Cutters to
come into contact while either machine is plugged into
a power source.
4. ALWAYS connect to a grounded, GFCI-protected
power supply.
5. ALWAYS insulate yourself from the workpiece and
ground. Non-flammable, dry insulating material is
recommended.
6. Install and ground equipment in accordance with the
US National Electrical Code, local codes and according
to this instruction/installation manual.
7. Ensure the Ground Clamp is properly connected to the
metal being cut.
8. Ensure that all welding equipment and leads are well
maintained and in safe operating condition prior to
each use.
WARNING:PLASMA CUTTING MAY PRODUCE
FUMES AND GASES THAT ARE HAZARDOUS TO THE
HEALTH OF THE OPERATOR AND PERSONNEL LOCATED
WITHIN THE WELDING WORKSPACE. EXPOSURE
TO THESE FUMES CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF
DEVELOPING CANCER, HEART DISEASE, EARLY ONSET
PARKINSON’S DISEASE AND VARIOUS REPRODUCTIVE,
RESPIRATORY AND DIGESTIVE DISEASES.
1. DO NOT place your head near the cutting arc; avoid
breathing fumes while cutting. Ensure proper ventilation.

2. Cutting hard-facing, galvanized, stainless and other
plated steels or metals produces highly toxic fumes.
Always read the MSDS for the product, metal or work
prior to cutting. Exhaust, mechanical ventilation and
a respirator may be required for minimal exposure to
these fumes.
3. Cylinders and containers that may have held harmful
gases should be properly vented prior to cutting.
Failure to ventilate these containers will produce toxic
gases that are harmful to the operator and all personnel
located within the workspace.
4. DO NOT cut near chlorinated hydrocarbons from
degreasing, cleaning or spraying operations.
5. Read and understand the product instructions and
MSDS sheet for any consumables or products used in

EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY A
QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN IN ACCORDANCE WITH
FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL CODES.
INTRODUCTION TO PLASMA CUTTING
Plasma – Channel of superheated, electrically ionized gas.
Plasma Arc Cutting – Compressed air is pushed
through a focused nozzle directed toward an electrically
conductive workpiece. An electrical arc is formed within
the gas, between an integrated electrode (within the
nozzle of the Torch) and the workpiece. Electricity from
the Torch travels through the plasma to heat and melt
the workpiece. The plasma blows the melted metal away
from the workpiece, creating separation.
NOTE: Plasma cutting is used to create controlled
separation of material, at a specified/focused depth
and width.
