1. Introduction
This tool is the software to configure the settings and get information of LP440/ LP441/ LP470/ LP480.
*This manual describes for LP470 as a reference.
*LP440/LP441 don't support USB interface.
*Setting of LED interval of blinking is not applied for LP470/ LP480.

•Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack4
•Microsoft Windows XP Home/Professional Service Pack2 or later
•Microsoft Windows Server2003 Standard Edition Service Pack1 or later
•Microsoft Windows Vista
*Microsoft Windows XP/Server2003/Vista does not support 64bit.

2. Before use
Before using the software, set the printer to the download mode by following steps.
1. Power off the printer.
2. Set the SIP Switch (DSW) of the printer according to the interface.

3. Connect the printer and PC by RS-232C cable or USB cable.
4. *Though cable connection is not required for Wireless LAN, the network connection setting
needs to be set in the printer before start communication.
5. Power on the printer.
Printer is ready.

3. How to use Printer configuration tool
1. Please select the printer in this screen and click "OK".

2. Printer configuration screen appears. For more details of setting value, see the following table.

3. Click "Apply" after configured.

4. Following screen is displayed when setting is complete.

5. Click "Default" and setting values are reset to default.

6. Click "Test print" or "Factory test" to start printing.

4. Communication Setting
Circuit setting function of wireless LAN is as follows.
By using this function, the basic operation setting can be set for all the printers which are registered
as wireless printer in the printer setting tool.
1. Check "All basic operation setup" in "Communication", and click "Apply".

2. Following screen is displayed, and click "All set".

3. Following screen is displayed when setting is complete.
*The printer name which failed setting will remain in the list. After checked the network setting,
click "All basic operation setup" again.

5. File
How to save/load the setting information on the printer configuration tool is described.
Restrictions
•Following setting information is saved; basic setting information of the main screen,
communication system with the printer, tool setting information (except selecting RS-232C
COM port) in the menu, and printer setting information (except Wireless LAN security
information).
•Other printer's setting files are not supported.
•Operation by edited setting files is not warranted.
•Running setting files on the older printer’s configuration tool is not warranted.
5.1Open setting files
1. Select "Open" in "File" menu.
*When file has been already opened and the value has been changed, the dialog which is
asking for saving the changes is displayed.

2. Select the setup file and click "Open".

3. The file information is set in the printer configuration tool.

5.2 Save Setting files
5.2.1Save new setting files
1. Select “File (F)” Æ“Save as (A)”.

2. Enter the file name and click "Save".

3. Set file is created in the specified location.
5.2.2Overwrite settings
1. Select "Save(S)" in "File(F)" menu.

2. The current set value is saved in loaded setting file
*When file is not loaded, the procedure is the same as for "Saving new setting files".

6. Tool setting
Before starting communication with the printer, the printer setting tool needs to be set for enabling
communication with the printer. Settings for enabling communication with the printer are follows.
6.1RS-232C setting
1. Select "RS-232C(R)" in "Tool settings(T)" menu.

2. Select COM port connected by RS-232C cable, and set communication setting value such as
baud rate to the same value of printer communication setting.

3. Click "OK".
4. Select RS-232C in "Communication" in the main screen.

6.2Wireless LAN setting
1. Select "Wireless LAN (W)" in "Tool Settings(T)" menu.

2. Enter printer name for identification on printer setting tool, IP address and port number of the
printer connected to network, and click "Add".

3. When IP address already exists in the list, overwrite caution is displayed.

4. Select Wireless LAN in "Communication” in the main screen, and select printer in the Select
printer.

6.3USB Setting
1. Select "USB(U)" in "Tool settings(T)" menu.

2. Click "Search USB device".

3. Click "OK" after select device.
*1.All the printers are searched which were recognized by PC as USB devices at start up.
*2.Different device name is displayed for Windows Vista/Server2008 and for Windows
2000/XP/Server2003 because the values written in registry are different.

4. Select USB in "Communication" in the main screen.

6.4Protocol setting
Before starting communication with the printer, the printer setting tool needs to be set for
enabling communication with the printer.
1. Select "Protocol (P)" in "Tool settings(T)" menu.

2. Change setting value, and click “Apply”.

7. Printer setting
How to change the printer communication setting is as follows.
7.1RS-232C setting
1. Select "RS-232C(R)" in "Printer settings (P)" menu.

2. Select the values of “Baud rate”, “Parity” and “Flow control”.

3. Click "Set" to set setting the value to printer.
4. Following screen is displayed when setting is complete. Click "OK" and restart the printer to
enable the setting.

3. Click "Set" to set the values to the printer.
* When DHCP is not used for IP address settings, IP Address and port number by checking
the box of "Register this printer after setting", IP address and port number that is set after
setting is complete are registered in the printer setting tool. In this case printer name is
registered as "Auto added printer".

4. Following screen is displayed when setting is complete. Click "OK" and restart printer to
enable setting value.
