connections or using this product. By following these
instructions, you’ll get the best audio performance
and the most listening pleasure from your Onkyo
product. Keep this manual for future reference.

unused for long periods of time.
9. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
Servicing is required when the apparatus has been
damaged in any way, such as connection cord is
damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen
into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to
rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been
dropped.
The UWF-1 adapter allows you to connect Onkyo’s
audio components to a wireless LAN.
The adapter can only be used with the
components listed in the “Compatible models”
section (➔En-8). (It cannot be used with
computers, for example.)

10. Damage Requiring Service
Unplug the apparatus from the AV receiver/amplifier and
refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the
following conditions:
A. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into
the apparatus,
B. If the apparatus has been exposed to rain or water,
C. If the apparatus does not operate normally by
following the operating instructions. Adjust only
those controls that are covered by the operating
instructions as an improper adjustment of other
controls may result in damage and will often require
extensive work by a qualified technician to restore
the apparatus to its normal operation,
D. If the apparatus has been dropped or damaged in
any way, and
E. When the apparatus exhibits a distinct change in
performance this indicates a need for service.
Precautions
1. Care—Occasionally you should dust the unit all over
with a soft cloth. For stubborn stains, use a soft cloth
dampened with a weak solution of mild detergent and
water. Dry the unit immediately afterwards with a clean
cloth. Don’t use abrasive cloths, thinners, alcohol, or
other chemical solvents, because they may damage the
finish or remove the panel lettering.
2. Never Touch this Unit with Wet Hands—Never handle
this unit while your hands are wet or damp. If water or
any other liquid gets inside this unit, have it checked by
your Onkyo dealer.

Using the UWF-1
A wireless LAN (WLAN) is a local area network that
relies on wireless communication.
To achieve a wireless network connection, you will
need the following components:
❑Access point
Also known as the base station, it links your network-
capable AV receiver (wireless client) with a PC or
network. Access points fall into two categories: the
bridge type that only performs data relay in a local
area network, or the router type that has a built-in
router functionality.
❑Wireless adapters
Sometimes known as dongles, wireless adapters are
extension devices that provide wireless network
functionality when connected to a PC. There are
several types of adapters, including PC cards and USB
adapters. Connecting the UWF-1 wireless adapter to
the USB port of a network-capable AV receiver lets
you use your AV receiver as a wireless client (wireless
terminal) and connect it to a PC or to the Internet.
Compatible with new-series (TX-NRxx9 and higher)
Onkyo AV receivers. For further details, visit the
Onkyo web site. You can find the home page address
on the back of this manual.
To achieve a wireless network connection, it is
necessary to perform the wireless LAN setup. The
setup can be done either automatically or manually.
Note
• Do not connect any other wireless adapter than the UWF-
1 to the USB port of your network-capable AV receiver, as
other wireless USB adapters are not supported.
• Depending on your connection and the AV
receiver’s functionality, menus won’t be displayed
on screen. In this case, use the AV receiver’s display
to make the settings.
• The wording of displayed items varies according to
the AV receiver’s functionality.

Automatic wireless LAN setup
1Connect the UWF-1 to the USB port on your
network-capable AV receiver.
2Press USB to select the USB input.
The “Wireless Setup” menu is displayed on
screen.
3Use q/wto select “Auto Setup” and then press
ENTER.
The WPS selection screen is displayed, providing
the following two options:
■Push Button method
3.1 Use q/wto select “Push Button” and
then press ENTER.
3.2 Press the WPS button on your Access
Point device.
■PIN code method
3.1 Use q/wto select “PIN Code” and then
press ENTER.
An 8-digit PIN code is displayed. The PIN
code is displayed scrolling on the AV
receiver’s display.
3.2 Input the provided code in your Access
Point.
For information on the registration
process, please refer to the instruction
manual provided with your Access Point
device.
4Press ENTER to confirm.
After the connection to your Access Point is
completed, the connection status is displayed on
screen. This completes the wireless LAN setup.
You can review your setup with the “Status”
option on the “Wireless Setup” menu.

1Connect the UWF-1 to the USB port on your
network-capable AV receiver.
2Press USB to select the USB input.
The “Wireless Setup” menu is displayed on
screen.
3Use q/wto select “Manual Setup” and then
press ENTER.
A list of available Access Points is displayed.
4Use q/wto select the Access Point you wish to
connect to, and then press ENTER.
Depending on your encryption settings, the
security of your Access Point will provide one of
the following patterns:
■WEP method
4.1 Use q/wto select “Default KeyID” and
then press ENTER.
4.2 Use q/wto choose an ID between 1 and
4, and then press ENTER.
4.3 Use q/wto select “Key” and then press
ENTER.
4.4 Use the keyboard on screen to enter the
secret key and confirm with “OK”.
■WPA/WPA2 method
4.1 Use q/wto select “Key” and then press
ENTER.
4.2 Use the keyboard on screen to enter the
secret key and confirm with “OK”.
■No encryption
If your Access Point device is not secured by
encryption, there is no need to input any
secret key.
5Select “OK” and press ENTER.
After the connection to your Access Point is
completed, the connection status is displayed on
screen. This completes the wireless LAN setup.
You can review your setup with the “Status”
option on the “Wireless Setup” menu.

L’adaptateur UWF-1 vous permet de connecter les
composants audio d’Onkyo à un LAN sans fil.
L’adaptateur peut uniquement être utilisé avec les
composants figurant dans la section « Modèles
compatibles » (➔Fr-7). (Il ne peut pas être utilisé
avec les ordinateurs, par exemple.)

10. Dommages nécessitant réparation
Débranchez le produit de l’ampli-tuner AV et confiez-le à
un service de réparation qualifié dans les cas suivants:
A. Des objets sont tombés dans l’appareil ou du liquide
a été renversé et a pénétré ce dernier.
B. L’appareil a été exposé à la pluie.
C. L’appareil ne semble pas fonctionner normalement
lorsque vous l’utilisez en respectant les instructions
données. N’effectuez que les réglages préconisés
dans le manuel car un mauvais réglage d’autres
commandes risque d’endommager l’appareil et
nécessitera un long travail de remise en état par un
technicien qualifié.
D. L’appareil est tombé ou son boîtier est endommagé.
E. Ses performances semblent nettement affectées.
Précautions
1. Entretien—Essuyez régulièrement le boîtier de
l’appareil avec un chiffon doux et sec. Vous pouvez
éliminer les taches rebelles avec un chiffon légèrement
imbibé d’eau et de détergent doux. Essuyez ensuite
l’appareil avec un chiffon propre et sec. N’utilisez jamais
de chiffons rêches, de dissolvant, d’alcool ou d’autres
solvants chimiques car ceux-ci pourraient endommager
la finition ou faire disparaître la sérigraphie du boîtier.
2. Ne touchez jamais cet appareil avec des mains
mouillées—Ne maniez jamais ce produit ou le câble de
connexion avec les mains mouillées ou humides. Si de
l’eau ou tout autre liquide pénètre à l’intérieur du
produit, veuillez le faire examiner par votre revendeur
Onkyo.

Utilisation de l’UWF-1
Un LAN sans fil (WLAN) est un réseau local qui repose
sur la communication sans fil.
Pour réaliser une connexion à un réseau sans fil, vous
aurez besoin des composants suivants :
❑Point d’accès
Également connu comme station de base, il relie
votre ampli-tuner AV avec connectivité réseau (client
sans fil) à un PC ou un réseau. Les points d’accès se
rangent dans deux catégories : le type de raccord qui
effectue seulement le relais de données dans un
réseau local, ou le type de routeur qui a une
fonctionnalité de routeur intégrée.
❑Adaptateurs sans fil
Parfois connu comme fiches, les adaptateurs sans fil
sont des dispositifs d’extension qui fournissent la
fonctionnalité réseau sans fil une fois reliés à un PC. Il
y a plusieurs types d’adaptateurs, y compris les cartes
de PC et les adaptateurs USB. Connecter l’adaptateur
UWF-1 sans fil au port USB d’un ampli-tuner AV avec
connectivité réseau vous permet d’employer votre
ampli-tuner AV comme client sans fil (borne sans fil)
et de le relier à un PC ou à Internet.
Compatible avec les nouvelles séries (TX-NRxx9 etmodèles
au-dessus) d’ampli-tuner AV Onkyo. Consultez le site Web

Pour réaliser une connexion réseau sans fil, il est
nécessaire d'effectuer la configuration réseau local
sans fil. La configuration peut être faite
automatiquement ou manuellement.
Remarque
•
Ne connectez aucun autre adaptateur sans fil que l’UWF-1 au
port USB de votre ampli-tuner AV avec connectivité réseau,
car les autres adaptateurs USB sans fil ne sont pris en charge.
•
Selon votre connexion et la fonctionnalité de l’ampli-tuner
AV, les menus ne seront pas affichés sur l'écran. Dans ce cas,
utilisez l’afficheur de l’Ampli-tuner AVpour faire les réglages.
• Le libellé des articles affichés varient selon la
fonctionnalité de l’Ampli-tuner AV.

Configuration réseau local sans fil

1Connectez l’UWF-1 au port USB de votre
ampli-tuner AV avec connectivité réseau.
2Appuyez sur USB pour sélectionner l’entrée
USB.
Le menu « Wireless Setup » est affiché à l'écran.
3Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner « Auto Setup »,
puis appuyez sur ENTER.
L’écran de sélection WPS s’affiche, fournissant les
deux options suivantes :
■Méthode de bouton poussoir
3.1 Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner « Push
Button », puis appuyez sur ENTER.
3.2 Appuyez sur le bouton WPS sur votre
dispositif de point d’accès.
■Méthode code PIN
3.1 Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner « PIN
Code », puis appuyez sur ENTER.
Un code PIN à 8 chiffres s’affiche. Le code
de PIN s’affiche en défilant sur l’affichage
de l’ampli-tuner AV.
3.2 Entrez le code fourni dans votre point
d'accès.
Pour des informations sur la procédure
d’enregistrement, veuillez vous référer au
manuel d’instructions fourni avec votre
dispositif de point d’accès.
4Appuyez sur ENTER pour confirmer.
Une fois le branchement à votre point d’accès
accompli, l’état du branchement est affiché sur
l’écran. Cela termine la configuration réseau local
sans fil.
Vous pouvez passer en revue votre configuration
avec l’option « Status » sur le menu « Wireless
Setup ».

Configuration réseau local sans fil manuelle
1Connectez l’UWF-1 au port USB de votre
ampli-tuner AV avec connectivité réseau.
2Appuyez sur USB pour sélectionner l’entrée
USB.
Le menu « Wireless Setup » est affiché à l’écran.
3Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner « Manual
Setup », puis appuyez sur ENTER.
Une liste des points d’accès disponible s’affiche.
4Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner le point d’accès
auquel vous souhaitez vous connecter, puis
appuyez sur ENTER.
Selon vos réglages de cryptage, la sécurité de
votre point d’accès fournira un des motifs
suivants :
■Méthode WEP
4.1 Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner « Default
KeyID », puis appuyez sur ENTER.
4.2 Utilisez q/wpour choisir un identifiant
entre 1 et 4, puis appuyez sur ENTER.
4.3 Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner « Key »,
puis appuyez sur ENTER.
4.4 Utilisez le clavier sur l’écran pour entrer la
clé secrète et confirmez-la avec « OK ».
■Méthode WPA/WPA2
4.1 Utilisez q/wpour sélectionner « Key »,
puis appuyez sur ENTER.
4.2 Utilisez le clavier sur l’écran pour entrer la
clé secrète et confirmez-la avec « OK ».
■Pas de cryptage
Si votre dispositif de point d’accès n’est pas
sécurisé par cryptage, il n’est pas nécessaire
d’entrer une clé secrète.
5Sélectionnez « OK » et appuyez sur ENTER.
Une fois le branchement à votre point d’accès
accompli, l’état du branchement est affiché sur
l’écran. Cela termine la configuration réseau local
sans fil.
Vous pouvez passer en revue votre configuration
avec l’option « Status » sur le menu « Wireless
Setup ».
